Add on the experience points... No one ever asked how he knew about how the TV will work without parts or how much better with parts. I personally STILL cant figure it out-huge learning curve watching these vids.
I felt like i was back to the electronics classes at university. I love this type of explanation, asking questions about the solution, trying to attract attention in every single moment of this video. Great teaching.
U can learn for all your life and still not understand. But when somebody shows you that the way to understanding is simplicity. Thank you My Friend....its a pleasure to watch you work..
Hi, sorin I saw older video from 2017(Jvc tv lt-22dg52 no power repair) on this video you have a problem with 3 diode parallel on PSW, and to identify which one shorted you cut each time one diode and the end u are finding the faulty one. but now u are more expriance and teach us better way
Thank you so much for showing what failed and just how easy it was to trouble shoot. I have a house with no less than 5 Samsungs in it. I'm sure they might end up like this one. You're the best.
Took me a couple of times to watch this to understand how you found which set of diodes was at fault. Great video Sorin ! Love the diagnostic methods, and how you explain how it works.
you can install sr5100 in this node too. these diodes differ in their operating voltage - 100 and 150 volts, respectively. but at this point the output voltage is only 5 volts, so the reverse voltage for the diode will be 40-50 volts maximum.
Love your videos Sorin, you explain it pretty good and for a person like me who is not electrically minded it makes some sort of sense if you know what I mean. Thanks for for your time..Good luck mate.
Thank you sir, you remind me my old work, as a repair technician. Nice method to find the shorted diode. I did not think that. But I have to notice that you must replace all the three diodes. They have to be from the same type and same lot also. So they have same characteristics possible. As you mention maybe the technician chooses not to equalize the three diodes so the TV come again for service after a few years.
People who don't understand electronic assume that a partially, or sporadically working unit is easier to fix than a completely dead unit. They couldn't be more wrong.
They don't understand the difference between a simple DC controller on, say, a toy train and a more complex supply - linear, switching, balanced. Or why that matters anyway. In the above that knowledge and methods of isolating the faulty part kept a several hundred (or more) $ (USD) TV out of the dumpster for the cost of a diode that was likely less than $20. I'm in awe of the way you work through problems and remind all of us that everything comes down to Ohm's law, Kirchoff's laws, and so on.
Ha ha I love it, I have been watching your channel for a while. You remind me of my self when I was working on the TV repairs up until early 90’s. I then moved to the computers and network. Recently I am retired. But I will love and watch the electronic repairs. Good luck with your Chanel. Merry Christmas Sorin. By the way I got my training in the Austria and then I moved to the Canada.
Thanks for all your videos and taking the time to teach US. Regarding those diodes, they are schottkey diodes and even though One is marked SB and the new ones SR they are identical components. I have an electronics shop near my house in Portugal and for the SB diode they give me the SR One. Thanks again.
On diode mode, aren’t good diodes supposed to show “OL” one way, and some +/- 0.500 number, the other way? At 12:10 you got a reading of 0.250V and 1.555V the other way. How is that diode not damaged. Please explain, I’m a novice. Thank you
I'm improving I instantly knew to put your finger on those diodes to find out which one gets hot (with power being added). Although given we are working with AC I would just wip out the petrol and stick that on instead.
It gets more difficult when a resistor opens. I just repaired a similar PS where a 2W resistor failed open but it was perfectly fine on the outside (not burnt). Had the PS in the TV fully connected and plugged into mains, and traced voltages with the aid of the PS schematics. The issue was the PS not switching although rectified mains was there.
Hi Sorin! Why didn't replace all the diods with a single more powerfull diod? Like 10 amps or more for example? In this case the tv will never return in service with the same issue! Salutări din România!
Thank you for your videos. I haven’t been able to watch this one yet. I have a question, is that zippo fluid in the zippo fluid bottle? Or are you just reusing the bottle for something else?
Great video.....I have a Samsung 75" Q70R and it went black screen while watching a movie, it flashed blue every 20 seconds, I have some knowledge in electronics so I opened it to see if it had bad capacitors. With the TV energized, I disconnected the ribon cable that goes to the main board and the screen turned blue, so I assumed it was not the damaged screen, I have been looking on ebay and I have found the original power supply parts, do you think that replacing the board will solve the problem?...thanks
I thought the cathode of the diode was the ground side (yes I am a noob) but you put the negative power supply probe on the anode, and the positive on the cathode of the diode when you injected voltage. I am curious to why? (Or am I blind).. Thanks for your videos. :-)
Don't be fooled by diodes showing up short, this does not necessarily mean that they have failed, you can quite easily get false readings from low ohm resistors or even from a local transformer.
Hello could you make a video with ac out door main board troubleshooting - repair and explain how we can troubleshooting the IPM because the most common problems are with this component… thank you in advance. Petros Santorini island Greece….
Not only that, if you get three from the same lot there’s a better chance of them matching each other decently, so the load will get shared a bit better.
one question i have for you... when you inject voltage, can it be dangerous for other components? or it will take the shorter path (shorted diode) only? i mean also... it is applicable to every situation that there is a short no matter what type of circuits?
In order for the defective diode to heat up, it is enough to use, for example, 100mV. This small voltage will not harm the other components if the diode were to break due to the current flowing.
This channel is quite educational. It amazes me how many tv's can be repaired by spending about 50cents on a part! Just need the knowledge and effort.
Add on the experience points... No one ever asked how he knew about how the TV will work without parts or how much better with parts. I personally STILL cant figure it out-huge learning curve watching these vids.

You are one of my best teachers
What a nice way to explain what's going on, how to troubleshoot it using your brain and experience. Thank you!
Thanks Sorin. Always nice watching you do troubleshooting. Have an awesome week.
Sorin for King of the free world.

A master class and no more to say.
Excellent Sorin I have done 3 with the same issue
You always give good troubleshooting tips and methods... that's why we love you big boss
Thank you for your business, see you again in 2 years.
Love your videos Sorin, you explain it pretty good and for a person like me who is not electrically minded it makes some sort of sense if you know what I mean. Thanks for for your time..Good luck mate.

Thank you. I have a very similar year Samsung 40” that’s dead. I’m anxious to look at it now I have an idea what to look for.
Sorin the great fixer 🤔!
Sorin is the Holy Grail for electronic repair😊👌👍
Thanks I always love watching your videos but mainly the tv ones.
my best teacher
Best explaining TV board repair video so far I have watched👍..
Nice step by step explaining 👏.
For me as well, i have a couple of boards to practice on. I cant get 2 channels.
Lots of diodes in that TV!. 😳 Very nice fix. Thank you for the step by step.
Nice trick without desoldering thank you

Best on RUclips !!!
Your videos are always the best sir
your knowledge is always mind blowing.
how i like learning
from you. robert young
Thank you , I just check and my tv have same problem with diode, Amazing is working now 👍👍😀
Excellent video. Great for putting voltage meter in corner and nice view of meter on components. I subscribed!
Thank your Sorin! Pls put value from hot air station on screen. Your are génius.
Another day another lesson learned from the MASTER teacher, Thank you and God bless you. Oh and Liked and subscribed.
Thank u so much ,you are great .

Thanks for this video :) this board has nice look color :D
Send1NStefan I was thinking the same thing. Why aren't all boards like this where everything is so clear to see.
you are very clever :)
I have a model tv just like that and I know what to definitely check if and when it stops working. Thank you for the repair tutorial.
Amazing Maestro Sorin 👍
Been doing some of these myself! It's usually the large 420v caps..... usually.
please continue to teach and educate, thank youuu
You are Great , i need these videos like air
How you got to the fault that fast, amazes me.
very comprehensive explanation. 😎 hats off. 😎😎😎
My master, very good teacher.
Hi Sorin, thank you, you are the best.
Love watching ur videos very experienced guy right here 👌👌
you are using good method!
Amazing as ever Sorin.

Sir what is the voltage applied to the diod thank you
Thank you very much for your vídeos and for sharinhg your knowledge.
That’s the 8 series. I have the same one and it’s badass
thank you Sorin

he wants the tv to come back but only after 3months warranty, it isn't his tv...
Sir, you are amazing!
Thank you that was good fun
Your "he he he" in 7:00 is so good 😅😁
Very usefull lessons! thx Sorin

great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
U r my teacher ❤
Great lesson.
Oh very good more depth here and tricks - well done, subbed. Do more TV boards. :-)

great explonation
Good job thank.s a lot i like you sir

Otherwise the good diodes are forward biased and conducting so will get hot too. Reverse biased only the shorted diode will conduct and get hot.
That´s the trick: No current will flow through the good diodes.
Don't be fooled by diodes showing up short, this does not necessarily mean that they have failed, you can quite easily get false readings from low ohm resistors or even from a local transformer.
He did go through the one set of diodes that seemed to maybe be shorted but upon further inspection he decided they weren’t.
I love sorin he's a fucking legend!

Great job 👍
So do you think monitor with adapter outside are better??
Thank youbfor sharing my friend
well explain
Thank you
bravo! u are da man! thanks
Where is this guy from? Very informative content btw.
good job mate.
Another video , another lesson .
Instead of ordering same exact diode you could replace all 3 with an equivalent. Faster and cheaper.
Not only that, if you get three from the same lot there’s a better chance of them matching each other decently, so the load will get shared a bit better.
I wish you fixed more tvs

Sorin, thanks for the video!!!
what kind of multimeter you use
we can make it better than factory if we put one more diod in parallel and we will have 4x5A instead of 15A
very nice video
