Speedrun I made with my character mod. I was inspired by several people doing this exact level with Mario and wanted to not only try my hand at it, but also to show off N64 Mario's massive speedrun potential.

I have an absurdly annoying glitch where mario has a mind of his own and starts moving in one direction and when I try to move in the opposite direction its like playing tug of war but we both have the same strength

Rueven fused the dive and long jump which gives Mario a lunge jump so I don't think the long jump need to be added.
Or you could get the other Mario mod for this game

He won't and never will as the long jump and dive has been fused together, creating a lunge jump. Tho there's an alternate way of BLJing with this Mario mod except you're lunge jumping forward (FLJ if you get it). Just type 'rkysuperman on' in the command and repeatedly mash that jump button right after you touched a horizontal spring

But if you do want a *proper BLJ*, there's an alternative Mario mod on the message board created by SMS Alfredo that has accurate Mario movesets, it also includes Luigi and a power-ups from the Mario games.
Anyway, back to the BLJ with the other Mario mod topic. Search for a hill (more notably on Green Flower Zone Act 2), align Mario properly, then crouch + mash the jump button while going backwards like how you did in SM64
