We didn't vote for abortion, we voted to remove the constitutional ban on elective abortion to allow the government to legislate without restriction and that could mean a lot of abortion (as was introduced in 2019 by the government) or a little abortion (like we had before the referendum). Many Irish people have since regretted voting "yes" in 2018 as we now have the most liberal abortion laws in Europe allowing for abortion up to birth in some cases and more extreme than the "yes" advocates had claimed it would be.
@johnobrien7860 the Savita lies is what won it for the "yes" side, I campaigned for a "no" vote and I was sure from the response at the doors that we would win, then for the last week the "yes" side and their media cheerleaders blitzed the country with Savita posters and news stories. Savita died from undiagnosed sepsis, an abortion would not have saved her life.
What you must recognize here is that there no such thing as a "secular" person and ultimately it all boils down a clash of religion and values. To woke materialists, sex is what is most important. Cutting off a persons right to sex is the greatest sin for them, because sex is not just something you do, its a massive part of your identity according to woke metaphysics. All people must have an unrestricted right to sex, which is the greatest sacrament and the thing that gives life value. Everything else must come second, including the value of life or the good of the society as a whole. Its the religion folks - its what they believe. You must understand it in those terms. Where the commentator say 12 weeks, he really doesn't offer any solid reasoning for that point - its simply what feels right to him. Its not a reasoned argument. He's simply acting under years of largely unchallenged, liberal materialist programming which is drilled into us all, day and night by the culture we live in. That is why traditional catholic teaching appears "strange". Thats not a criticism of him: airing the video and raising the question was courageous and I wish him all the best and hope that he continues to question the liberal materialist religious outlook.
I find it ironic, how you preach not to erase our culture/language etc…yet you insist on erasing your own accent with that ridiculous half baked pseudo American twang. It’s nonsensical.

The Clarke side of my family came from Ireland shortly before WW2 popped off, I’m not sure when the Dourghty side came to America. They dropped the E from the Clark, my great grandparents were ridiculed for their accent growing up and all trace of it is gone now. I really wish I could bring my kids to Ireland and show them where we came from and listen to people speak how our ancestors spoke. The American schools try to tell them we’re “White” and all White people have no culture, so I’ve made sure to teach them we’re Irish descendants, not just the tint of our skin.
