    Grind off the tire nobbs and make them slicks. Saves moving weight and rolling resistance. Total bike weight doesn't do much for top speed, only acceleration so for land speed it doesn't really matter, adding weight with a big fairing could therefore be a win as wind resistance has way more effect.

    • @Paulman50
      @Paulman50 9 месяцев назад +1

      Yea, above 60 the wind drag, front and rear, gets multiplied more and more as the speed increases. Just sticking your elbows out can cost 5mph. Years ago I could get 70 out of my Yamaha RD50, mostly by eliminating drag. They also need a 6 stone test pilot.

    The "Heavy Spot" on the front wheel is the VALVE STEM, you have the yellow Circle printed on the tire which is the LIGHTEST part of the tire which is supposed to be mounted on the rim by the valve stem, you have it 180 degrees away which is exactly the opposite of what it needs- You should have let the air out and popped the tire off the bead of the rim and clocked it, and you MAY have needed no weight

      When I was a kid I had velocity stacks on a cb750, at wot I could spread my knees away from the motor and gain big power compared to squeezing the bike with my knees. The latter caused the air flow to cause a vacuum at the stacks.

    I have faith in yall, yall will get there. Its gonna be tough, but its not far out of reach. I built a bike and engine for someone awhile back and let me tell you it was tough hitting 60mph. The engine was a stage 3 212, all off the shelf parts which claimed 22+ hp. Idk if thats our end result or not. It had a big aftermarket Mikuni on it built and tuned by me. The frame was a junk Coleman frame that we built as best as possible, with whats available in the aftermarket world. We had 4 or 5 diffrent gear sets. We ran it on Shell V-Power 93 octane pump gas. I can tell you, the built engine was rowdy, but with a 200lbs man on it i think the fastest we ever went was 57mph. I couldnt imagine trying to hit 100+ even with the big boy 236cc. Like you said power and weight isnt everything, you gotta be able to slice through the air resistance with the least amout of drag as possible. I know yall will get there, we will be watching!!

  • @460Tang
    @460Tang 9 месяцев назад +2

    I did some calculations for you.
    Assuming overall tire growth, 10,000 rpm and a speed of 111 mph.
    I know you have a 11 and 13 tooth gear.
    The gear ratio I came up with is either 11/65 or 13/77
    Without taking consideration of tire growth the ratios came out to
    11/56 or 13/67.
    Tire growth was estimated at 1.5 in increase in radius.
    Personally, i feel a 13/72 gear combination would guarantee a triple digit speed, probably about 105mph.

    With the amount of tire growth I'm not surprised the gear ratio calculations were off by a bit. That tire grows quite a lot.

    Are you accounting for the tire growth when running the numbers for top speed gearing?

    Awesome work guys! Try a full face helmet for less drag and put some foot pegs at the very rear of the frame to get laid out and tucked better.

    Do you guys Change the oil every time you run the bike as you should when running methanol? Also a good idea the run the engine on gasoline after each run to get the engine up to temp which will help remove the corrosive methanol from the crankcase. Methanol eats valve springs while the engine sits if you don't change oil enough.
