    The visual quality of each o your videos is outstanding. The lighting, the color, the cadrage, composition, and the editing are among the best of RUclips. Of course the projects are outstanding. Keep giving us more of this great quality.

      Indeed, the visual quality is so fine that I don't worry too much about *what it is*, *how it's made* is always a treat to watch...

    🤔 really liking the time jump edits in this … I don’t remember them being some lively and aesthetic. 🥂

    Why take the top off the bolt threads, though?

      @ScaryJ1701 8 месяцев назад +6

      Probably to make sure it wouldn't mar the inner surface of the workpiece.

      @@ScaryJ1701also, maybe to ensure that there was enough room to move the plate around to get it dialed in.

      G'day Herb, It's a watchmaker's faceplate. Mounted on the lathe it will hold watch components ready for machining recesses etc. The one straight and two curved slots are where the holding clamps go (which, themselves, have a thick lower jaw so that the components are kept above the surface of the faceplate); the two curved ones allow large components, say a main plate from a watch, to be radically offset to be able to get whatever location you require perfectly central. Look up 'Watchmaker's Faceplate' for a lot of images and sites for more information. All the Best.

    I appreciate the ridiculous amount of dedication but I think I would have just used a router table and a radius bit with a bearing. You would have to leave a very tiny flat but it would be a lot less work.

      He has a lathe but no router table. He also didn't want a flat.
