I'm watching the video ON your birthday :D
    Happy birthday mate.
Even thought I've been living in London for 4 years now and have been studying English for most of my life, your videos help me so much to communicate effectively and bring me closer everyday to being able to express myself the way I'm able to in Portuguese.
I can't say thank you enough!
And do visit my home country (Brazil) this year.
    You won't regret!!!

    5) It's already 4:00 *IN* the morning. So, I'm going to wake up *AT* 2:00 *IN* the afternoon. And that's what I always do *AT/ON* the weekends.

Great class Papa! Very useful tips and examples. However, as a Brazilian , I would like to recommend you to visit São Paulo and the Brazilian northeast, in summer - there are a lot of great events happening there, besides the beauty sites you will find. But be careful about some places you may want to go - see if it’s dangerous at night. Wish you a great time!

All in all, I will try to answer your question about American English using "on" the weekend. My lecturer from US said it's because we are in the middle of the weekend, so we are using "on". I have ever asked the same question as yours.

English is my third language (can speak in both American and British accent.) I can also speak a fourth language, Arabic. I can also understand 80% and speak 40% of a couple of local languages in my country. And the fun part is that I'm not an Art student.
I also know a few computer programming languages, i.e. HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, and C++.
I'm still learning these computer languages, but I can pretty much be called a software engineer.

Maybe because in India we are taught a mix of English and the American English, but I’m so confused about the usage of at and on for “the weekend”.. why is it “at the weekend”? So if I have this particular sentence: “what did you do at/on the weekend”, wouldn’t “on the weekend” sound better? Also, why isn’t “in” used here?

My birthday is on the 28th of January.
    Her birthday is in May.
I would like to live in the 30s.
Definitely in the summer or spring if you are visiting the south of Chile.
Probably at 10 in the morning.
I guess I'll never be in London.

Thank you PapaTeachMe. I was confused before but now it's quite clearly for me. But, I get confuse when you say 'at Christmas' and 'on new year's eve'. 🤷
I don't really understand about it.

You mentioned " in the class" in preposition of place. In/at the school will be correct, right?

Aly, please what's the difference between " at night" and "by night"? Thanks 💖
Happily your hand is almost ok!

    • @cloudsgamezz
      @cloudsgamezz 5 лет назад

“At” is used for specific times on the clock or points of time in the day.
“by” is used specifically with an endpoint of time and it means no later than (specific time.)
      For example,
He doesn’t like driving *at* night.
we need to be there *by* night.
And this is the only place where *"by"* is used as a preposition of time.

My birthday is on August 11th, my best friend's birthday is in January, I would live in the 80s, the best time to visit Colombia is in Summer, but really there is no proper seasons there, so... I'd like to wake up tomorrow at 5 am to practice yoga, but I'm going to the Christmas market this evening so I'll probably wake up with a hangover in the afternoon, I'm going to London in January 2020. Thanks for the videos.
