    Really interesting chat, Italy is often overlooked. It’s a real show of the commonwealth forces, Brits, Canucks, Aussies, New Zealanders, Indians, Gurkhas as well as the Americans and Polish
    Often thought of as second rate soldiers compared to the France campaign it was disrespectful to those men to be D-Day dodgers

    I love the then and now comparisons.
    On another note, my maternal grandfather landed at Salerno with the 8th Army having gone through the North African campaign.

      @Mcoaak the sad thing was he died when I was a baby, so never got to talk to him.

    Skorenzy being a bit of a PR man never occurred to me until I listened and you both made good points. In the Gran Sasso footage he really is everywhere Mussolini went. It’s pretty wild actually I never made the connection

      The scar, the way he forced himself into things constantly the guy was a PR machine just look at his autobiography
