  • Jeff Hardy is one of the most beloved performers of all time. But in his career he's faced a ton of personal and professional demons. The charismatic enigma is a star who's story isn't perfect by any means but one that should be used as inspiration for many. However countless times Jeff Hardy had chance after chance and squandered it and it's a career that no one wanted him to have this way.

As a recovering alcoholic over four years sober now, I probably root for Jeff more than most. Hell, I can remember taking pictures of his action figures holding my 1 year sobriety chip and tweeting it to him. The thing about addiction is that you have to want to stop. Nobody can tell you to stop, nobody can force you to stop. You cannot put anything else before your sobriety. Jeff may learn that, he may not. Not everybody makes it out. I hope he does. Not for his wrestling career, but for his family, and for himself.

His match with undertaker in 2008 on smackdown in an extreme rules match was one of my favorite matches of all time, up there with John cena vs Punk on raw in 2013 I believe. Some of the best free matches we’ve ever been given. TNA was when I had to turn my back on Jeff, especially after Victory Road. Matt was never on my radar for entertainment, not until he became broken. The sheer amount of main event pushes, prominent runs and title wins he has, not to mention multiple second chance after second chance, not just in WWE but in other prominent wrestling companies as well. Any other underutilized wrestlers would KILL for the type of favor Jeff had. While I genuinely feel sad for his personal problems and the pain he went through, there's only so much sympathy I can garner from someone who's been given multiple and I mean, MULTIPLE second chances that very few have ever had the privilege of having. The way he's wasted all those opportunities away feels donwright insulting to every other wrestler who's worked an equally grueling schedule, gone through just as much physical and mental anguish, whether in the indies or the big promotions, but have tried their best to stay out of trouble but barely get so much as even a crumb of what Jeff Hardy was given.

He won three world championships in major promotions, Ric Flair and RVD, two Hall of Famers, agree that Jeff Hardy should be in the HoF. WWE offered Jeff a HoF spot but he turned it down because his brother wasn't included in the spot. Your post implies Jeff never accomplished anything in life and is absolute bullshit.
And if that makes Ric Flair and RVD the 'new enablers', I quite frankly don't give a damn. Had enough of hearing that NPC-ass garbage.

@@tarheelenigma "Your post implies Jeff never accomplished anything in life and is absolute bullshit." - Please, read my post again. I literally mentioned the sheer number of title wins (including WWE, WHC, TNA title runs), several main event spots, opportunities he's been given over the course of his entire career. He's literally given so many chance after chance despite screwing up so badly, especially in TNA. Any other talent would've been shown the door and immediately blacklisted on top of getting shoved down the card permanently . But not Jeff. THAT"S PRIVILEGE.

Jeff is one of my all times favs. The dude has been INSANELY over his entire career. Without even being extremely muscular or doing great promos he was still very popular. He was just, cool. I root for him everytime he goes to rehab and hope his comebacks are better than before, but this time as a fan I'm just tired. I just want him to do it for his family and himself and retire in peace. He doesn't need to come back to the ring (which he probably will) and put his body on the line again and again and numb the pain with whatever substance works at the time.
