Reason: Naturally our body needs to inspect food in four stages, before allowing it to our stomach. Stage 1 By Looking, 2. By Smelling, 3. By Touching, 4. Testing by tongue. Through these 4 steps our brain decides whether the food is edible or not, whether it is too hot Or too cold, if hard then how much hard accordingly teeth and tongue also gets ready to do their work smoothly, quite before entering the food into mouth.
Now when we eat the food by spoon then the Stage 3 (sensing by touch) get skip and our brain couldn't get some sensing information, which creates problem in secretion of saliva and digestive acid in proper quantity. It's a micro science and thus the Indian culture is. This is why, it's said that Hinduism is not a religion, it's a way of life. From Dawn to Dusk it has science in every step.
