    every form has a different punch, the siu nim tao is a straight punch, in chum kiu you turn your elbow outwards and cross your left arm with the right punch, and the biu jee punch is different too, though i havent learned it. im aware of the momentum in a round punch, therefore u got to nose-to-nose him when doing a straight attack, meaning turning with him like you were dancing walzer. Doing the palm strike you turn your elbow outwards and raise your arm to protect yourself with this same arm.

      Let me put that in a better way wing chun dosent deal with high kicks were your more of balance but everything is low it would be great to learn it for self defense.this world isn't safe anymore ..

    Never-ending old story -good master but closed bubble system -they practice continously against opponent who is attacking with wc strikes, they dont train seriously with attacks in western manner (body is not upstraight, head is moving, straight punches are mainly for deceiving, first strike is never real but second/third, no still standing). All angles are then different from historical/traditional, but they cling to their comfortable but rigid closed bubble. The same for aikido, taiji, karate

    my sifu is dealing great with round punches and hooks, these aspects are treated very late/too late in the wc system, and most people who mastered it are old and wont fancy entering any ring^^

    Здравствуйте. Как сделать ногу у деревянного манекена, чтобы она не ломалась от ударов?

    But what i wanted to say is, round attacks never happen two times the same way, everyone is slightly diffrent in angle and pressure, therefore you got to develop a good feeling for the opponents body and his momentum. To me its advanced stuff.

    Hook, cross,etc. all these attacks are round attacks. depending on the angle u got to decide wether u do bong and step to his outside gate, or tan and nose-to-nose him, or do a cham kiu punch, or a palm strike with wide elbow, or bong and step back (not recommended because of the loss of forward pressure) etc. there are drills designed to work on these details. they really are details because the diffrence between the angle of the punch are very subtle. So u didnt treat this at all up to now?

    To say that the Wing Chun system does not have an answer to punches, the most basic of attacks, would mean that it would not pass the first test of a fighting system. In regards to rotating kicks Wing Chun recommends that the best response is to close the distance so that the power of the kick is deminished, however I do not believe that Wing Chun is alone in this technique and insists on this approach to maintain fighting distance.

    Ah, so you're with Kernspecht? You've got to watch if you're learning his system. Keep in mind that the dude is a Goliath. He takes advantage of his size quite a bit and uses a lot of shortcuts from what the traditional style is. Again, I was told that if you run into someone larger or much stronger then you will be left at a disadvantage. Any time you leave your center you are cutting into both your power and structure. I use the Chum Kiu 1 as training to put my momentum behind my punch.

    身催足動(body urge the feet to move) that’s how your power explode. Look at the athletes see how they explode their speed. If you move your foot first, you are half step behind. Sex points half staff(六點 半棍、又名天地乾坤棍、那只打一半就停在那任人宰割) there’s another name call Heaven and Earth-Universal Staff. Therefore there is no reason only post stark as a dummy lets be slaughtered. Please Sir, don’t shoot the arrow first than draw the target.

    Leung ting lineage in Germany. Nose-to-nose is no force thing, bong + step neither. Its actually not force vs force when your feeling and timing is right, and the chum kiu punch is a structure thing.

    Actually wing chun is weaker against hooks. If you just throw punches out there wildly (as 90% of practitioners seem to do) they won't counter a hook like they would a normal straight punch or other more linear attacks, you have to establish contact and gain control of your opponent otherwise the momentum will carry the hook the rest of the way and it will still connect.
    You can see plenty of evidence of this in the full contact fights with wing chun vs other styles.

    Really? Because we never had this issue at all from the start of our training with the way that our teacher taught us. How were you taught to handle it?

  • @Ankoku15
    @Ankoku15 12 лет назад

    We don't seem to be of the same lineage. If my teacher saw me cross my arms he would smack me upside the head. The only different punch in my Chum Kiu is the one that looks like an uppercut. I was taught that doing things as you have explained them that will be your muscle vs his, and against a stronger opponent this can be a problem. You wouldn't happen to be affiliated with Wong Shun Lueng or Gary Lam would you?

  • @Ankoku15
    @Ankoku15 12 лет назад

    Cham Kiu is the 2nd form.. what do you mean Cham Kiu punch? Why wouldn't you just use tan da?
    If you use a straight punch or a palm strike then your opponents momentum is just going to carry the blow the rest of the way, and I would never take my elbow out of position, that negates all of my power and makes the arm weak as a defensive tool.
    We've never had to focus on hooks because no one in my class has ever had a problem with them. I'm commenting on the WC you see on youtube.

    1. This is Kali footwork you are showing here...
    2. NEVER, I repeat NNNEEEVVVEEERR drop foot first, HEEL first, HEEL. I cannot stress the importance of this enough, you can seriously injure yourself if you do not follow this guideline. Not only will you stop your momentum, if you land wrong you can get some nasty hyper extensions and put yourself seriously off balance.

    do more research you are 100% wrong
    We use foot work with Quan or Guan Sau against mid to high rotating kicks.
    Leg checks(chi gerk) against low rotating kicks.
    Very similar to Muay Thai.
    I teach WC and Muay Thai
    I` will admit at least 90% of WC practitioners are sissys but this one is not!
