I've ridden them both now too many times to count, and I'd say Leviathan is my favourite. Especially a warmed up night ride of Leviathan is something else. DC Rivals has more aggressive elements for sure. But it needs to warm up.
Both rides are amazing. Pacing and theming obviously go to Leviathan (the worst moments of Rivals may be worse than the worst moments on Steel Taipan), and in the evening that double down slaps! Pure ejector. But DC Rivals has some amazing sustained ejector moments with it's first three and last three elements. I'd say my favourite moments on each coaster is the drop, which on DC Rivals stomps over the non-inverting loop (in my opinion), but DC Rivals' drop hits so hard. And the visual in back, combined with life-changing airtime, is unforgettable. Easily the best coaster in Australia is DC Rivals. But it is not my favourite. I seem to prefer Superman Escape, for some strange reason. It's not as long as DC Rivals and the restraints kinda suck, but the pre-show, launch and three hills are pure perfection. Launch has breathtaking anticipation, top hat gives great ejector if you're sitting in car 1 or 5, second hill hauls giving amazing sustained ejector, and the final hill throws you so hard when you thought the coaster couldn't get better. And it's the best front row ride in Australia, for the way it holds it's speed and that epic launch. Infuse the ride with old-school Intamin intensity, you have an amazing ride that I always run to when I step through the gates of Movie World.
I rode DC Rivals 6 times tonight during White Christmas and one of the trains is really showing some age, was such a shaky ride. Also can I just say $30 for the backwards seat is not at all worth it. Makes the $25 for the spinning seat on Steel Taipan seem almost reasonable.
Great video, mate. I've loved watching this channel grow. I love your documentary series and have learent alot about Australian theme park history that I never knew before. Keep up the great work! In terms of this video, I would personally go with Leviathan. I am a sucker for themeing and will always sacrifice more intense thrills for better themeing. That being said, Leviathan does still have some really good moments and is still pretty thrilling in parts. Apart from Wild West Falls at Movie World, I would say that Leviathan has to be the best themed ride in Australia.
i personally like dc rivals more, just because it’s smoother. i’ve been on both, leviathan was bumpy and made my neck hurt, but rivals was so smooth and extremely fun!
My only gripe here is that the preshow does not slowdown operations on leviathan. And by that i mean the operations dont feel slow as your mind is otherwise occupied by the show going on, the wait doesnt detract from the experience as the show adds so much, if you're marathoning it yeah i get it, but id much rather sit at the gates watching the screens than waiting at movieworld on any other roller coaster having laughable station waits. But thats mostly an issue with both aussie safety standards being more strict and the poor implementation of those stricter standards by village roadshow. Rant over, happy vibes, leviathan is a beast, dc's backwards is the better experience. I can go on 😂
I see what you mean, but the novelty dies after the first ride for me. After that, Leviathan is all 6-7 minute cycle times on a 1-minute ride for a video clip and some lighting effects we've all seen before
@MaloneysCoasters i definitely see that point, i just feel for myself anywY that the queue and show are part of the whole experience so therefore that 6-7 mins while not prime ride time is still time in the experience. But hey im just glad to have my ride on my first and for now only woodie. P.s. perth needs more parks and coasters 🥲
I’ve experienced both terrible Rivals’ ops and fantastic ops, though it’s usually more the former. The number of time the park is getting smashed with crowds but runs only one train (on Superman too) is infuriating. As for Leviathan, when Sea World announced they were building a woodie my immediate thought was “that’s a courageous decision” (as Sir Humphrey would say to Jim Hacker). I’d enjoy that more if it wasn’t so rough. They should have gone with an RMC.
Dude, I was literally going to comment today and ask you which one I should aim for, cos I'm coming back to visit family in February. If I get a chance to sneak any coasters in, it'll probably be Aussie World and mayyyyyyybe one of the Goldie parks, so this is especially timely.
“Two coasters, both alike in dignity, in fair Gold Coast where we lay our scene.”
HAHAHA

woah you're pumping out so much quality content in such a short time! im a big fan and keep up the good work :D

I'm sad to hear that, I'll be going back in January so I'll see how it's running.
I also agree with the backwards seats prices, they're much too high
You need to do a Superman Escape Vs Leviathan

I definitely love Leviathan's theming! I agree it's one of the best themed attractions we've ever had.
Thanks for the support!
Leviathan sounds cool DC Rivals is Significantly better. DC Rivals is by far the best roller coaster I have ever been on
I didn’t realise that DC Rivals didn’t have any inversions 😮😅
DC Rivals is my favourite in the whole of Australia
I’ve never ridden either but I’m going to both parks later this year and I definitely plan on riding them both. It’s really exciting
I love both, but I'd have to go with Rivals, too!

I can't pick a favourite child.

The DC rivals is definitely more scary than the leviathan
