Those stainless cars are very rare and they look cool, but you know what is even more rare? I worked at a dealer that sold DeLorean, there was a dealer option in the 3rd and 4th years of them where for about an extra $5000 they would color coat them in 3 "approoved" colors. Red, maroon, and black. Very few customers opted for this treatment but there are a few.

Also another thing.. you were talking about the purple on the rear louvres. What’s not to like you have achieved so much in such a short period of time. Look to the uk for help and advice on that Renault V6 engine it was very common in the uk there will be wealth of tuning knowledge here if you need it. Please try and keep it as original as possible. It already looks stunning.
Hey LSC, re: heatgun restore of plastics. I have found that if you apply the armor all plastic trim restore/conditioner first, you end up with an even better result. (I think it has something to do with locking in the chemicals that keep the plastics from drying up), this has been my go-to for old plastics for AGES, and it works great. The oldest piece I have around was restored this way 20 years ago, has never seen a garage, and still looks brand new after 20 years of weather. Give it a try sometime on a spare piece, you won't be disappointed! (note: I only ever use a heat gun.)
36:41 wait a minute, I recgonize that part, they used it on the Dune buggy in the third movie, so they just took a part of the car and put it on the exterior lol also alec with the decall, get another D, a piece of wood, a ruler and a razor, messure what is missing, and cut it on the wood, without the slants, just the basic amount that is missing from the edge to the inside of the decal, then messure the cuts you need to do on it, trace it on the back of the decal since its white, flip it upside down against it till it matches, then cut ' and then very carefully apply it, if you do it right it should line up perfectly given the edge of the D should be perfectly symetrical with your cut
Just a word of advice for future decals I would've done it the same way you did before I worked at a sign/wrap and decal shop including striping police cars. The easiest way to go about lining up stripes by just taping the decal to the car in a few inch spots along the top of each decal to line the decal is positioned exactly where you want it WITH THE BACKING STILL ON. Then once you go and get them lined up you can run a line of masking tape along the whole length of the decal. Then peel your backing as much as you want to work with working there edge just in case you need to fix a bubble/ wrinkle. you almost always will get a small bubble but a small pop with an exacto knife and a day in the sun you'll be set! you can use this method with any decal.
This was one of the most rewarding car restorations I've ever watched. Just the attention to detail, the fact that you didn't cut out the small mistakes / learning experiences, etc. One of the greatest movie trilogies ever, one of the most iconic cars. Great to see people still taking care of these cars. I'm sure you'll have the engine running perfectly before Halloween. Subbed! ;)
@@leed7951 I'm up to Part 5 of Ronnie Finger, and it's great, thanks. I used to enjoy watching things like Wheeler Dealers (Edd China), but some of the stuff on RUclips now is really great. I never thought I'd enjoy watching things like re-upholstery so much. lol I really want to restore a car one day, but having never taken a driving test, and not having a garage, it's tricky.
That restoration reveal has been one of the most iconic ones of the channel. That car is beautifully, imperfectly perfect. You kicked butt, Alex! Max - the reveal edit was awesome! Thank you!
I absolutely love RUclips. Not only are there tutorials on just about anything you'd like to do or build, but there's a lot of entertainment in there as well. It blows my mind when I run across a person who did not make a RUclips account. It's like, you're missing it! lol.
Alex, Everything is looking SOOO MUCH better. I'm surprised with how meticulous you are that you are not using dielectric grease in all your light connections. It is good to use in any 12 volt electrical connection actually, more so in abrasive climates. It truly eliminates future conductivity issues. As Always, May God Bless you and yours!
When the car is lowered in the front it's going to be a SHOW STOPPER... what a transformation Alex. You are the ONLY channel I can see for an hour straight and still enjoy the whole show. (I actually saw that missing decal part in the DMC) so you know I actually saw the whole video lol
So my takeaway, is that you really are loving the fit and finish on the Delorean. It absolutely compliments the performance of the car. It does look beautiful after your restoration though. Well done!
Has to be "LSCBTF"! LOL at no brake caliper! As a 48 year old man who saw all three Back to the Future films on their first release, had Matchbox DeLorean's and plaid Back to the Future with them for hours as a kid, & even had a ride in a DeLorean when I was 15 (at the local observatory to boot - & before they became nostalgia icons - but for me even at 15, it was something I'll never forget) - all the nostalgia feels here! Really can't tell you how great this series has been! Thanks so much! I love how much you appreciate this car even though you are the "next generation" of BTTF fan - and also how much you appreciate the oddball history of DeLorean. Really wish I could take my kids trick-or-treating in your neighborhood this Halloween - but I'm a world away - and sadly, my kids are too old for it now anyway.
You can tell he LOVES LOVES LOVES this car. I wish you would restore mine with the passion you did this. I know it would last a lifetime. Thanks for all the content Alex
Alex what a blast from the past..you took me back in time, in 1983 I was 16 just got my license. Living in SoCal about a few miles from my house was a warehouse holding area for DeLoreans, I had to stop by to dream at what looked to me was a never-ending rows of new DeLoreans. Thank you again for taking me back in time Keep up the great content
Your attention to detail is astounding!!! Can’t wait to see the engine fixed and watch it run under its own power!!!! The 80’s kid in me is going wild!!! I love seeing your passion shine as bight as the stainless steel!!! Keep up the great work!!!
This car looks absolutely amazing! I wasn't sure about the black stripe at first, but it looks good. The paint shop did an amazing job and the headlights from Holley in modern white are perfect! Your hard work and dedication has made this car look better than when it left the factory.
Man, did you not make me nervous when you stuck those black stripes stickers. I was literally holding my breath for you not to mess it up. Suspense better than an action movie. Worth all the watching time. Great job Alex!
I have always LOVED the delorean and this has been amazing to see restored. But your excitement, like a kid in a candy shop, makes this all the better! You’re talent is incredible. I’m so happy I stumbled across your Chanel last year!
Speechless. Such a phenomenal restoration. And no one deserves this car more than you Alex you really did the Car justice not only that the videos will be a great guide for more Delorean enthusiasts that want to restore this car. Thank you for all your hard work
1:04:20 Thank you for finally addressing the ride height. One of the first things I did with my 1981 was to have the front end lowered by 3 inches at DMC Houston. That's how they were supposed to be and it changes the look dramatically. I feel it handles better as well. Ones you address the engine and lower the front end this will be perfect. Good job.
Alex, it looks absolutely incredible. I've loved following your journey with this restoration and just how excited and happy you've been at every step of the way. Great job!
There's a reason why people like the Hyundai Vision 74. It's because the DMC-12 is so iconic. Its a look that'll never go stale. Incredible restoration. It looks almost brand new, heck, better than new with how much work you put in to dialing in the panel gaps
Totally amazing restoration!, love the fact that you have kept it as near to factory as possible. The level of care and attention is second to none, looks absolutely amazing Alex, cannot wait to see it drive again..👍🇮🇪
I know I'm number 3.011 in leaving a comment, but I must say that you've done a phenomenal job Alex. The car looks stunning! Absolutely magnificant!!! Greets from Madrid, Spain.
I've watched all the other videos about this car and looking at the end result seems like you just cleaned the interior and exterior. It's crazy how much effort goes into all the litte details that no one sees like cleaning under all the coversand carpets and removing little bits of rust and all. That's something only a true car lover would do and i admire that!
Hey Alex, yes, this is the video I've been waiting for!!! You do such a great job of explaining every step you take in the restoration, you could easily be a college professor!!! (Or the professor from Gilligan's Island) lol. Great Scott!!! 👍👍🙂
What an incredible restoration. Kudos to you for addressing every detail and bringing this gem back from the dead. Super impressive! It's an OCD thing for me but if there's one thing I'd change, it would be to color match (as close as if feasible) the front & rear bumpers to the stainless. I have no doubt you brought it back to factory spec, but color matching that paint is a better aesthetic FOR ME. I know folks will flame me for that take - I get that authenticity rules in a resto project. Just my personal opinion. Fantastic vid as usual!
Oops, I already posted the exact same comment before finding yours. I saw a lot of them when new, and it was clearly the designer's intent to have the car be all the same color. The bumpers matched the stainless steel quite well at certain angles, to where, from a distance, you might think the car was 100% stainless steel. These are nice but way too dark.
Your work is second to none Alex and all you put into your work inspires others. This delorean is really amazing and your work is really apparent in the details which are totally worth it. These videos will pull a ton of new subscribers in. Not to mention the amount of views.
I guess if you took that car in orig. condition to a restoration shop you’d be looking at a $100,000 plus job and 6 months plus and … it would NOT turn out as well. Alex is a smart and dedicated guy. He deserves the success on YT.
I never watch videos this long, but I couldn't turn it off! You knocked it out of the park, Alex. The stripes and the stainless accents you added really take it to the next level, appearance-wise. Once the stance is adjusted, it will be perfect!
If you're new to the channel, it is very easy to watch the longer LSC videos. In fact short ones are kind of a bummer when you get used to the longer ones. 👍
Alex incredible job working your way through the systems! I’m pretty sure with CIS you need to put the air box back over the air plate so it moves based on actual controlled induction air movement. Also before you make adjustments to fuel mixture with the “hidden allen” make sure there are zero vacuum leaks or unmetered air and you have the right control pressures. Knowing you this thing will be running mint in no time! Then you can get to the LS or Tesla swap we’re all really waiting for!👍🏻
The stainless looks amazing after the re-grain process! Back in the day, one of the tool trucks, probably MAC, had a bare metal finished tool box that this reminded me of and how disappointed I was to not pick one up. Great work as always!!
Hi Alex, Been following your DeLorean saga since the beginning of time! I’ll admit that I used to look at DeLorean’s as having visual flair but not much else. Now I’m becoming a bit obsessed and a big fan. Your enthusiasm for the DeLorean is infectious! Big thumbs up!
👏👏👏👏Alex, you are simply the master of attention to detail. We absolutely loved this series and how much time you put into it. My family loves the longer style “feature length” videos you make. I’d watch two hour videos from you regularly. I ALWAYS watch the whole video. I wouldn’t even start a video I wasn’t going to finish. I cannot wait to see the mechanical aspects of this restoration. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us.
"You made me bleed, but i still love you"😂😂 that put a smile on my face. Love this car, thanks for taking the time and posting this video. Love from the UK
Such a beautiful resto....its fascinating seeing it come together and delving so deeply into its guts as you go.....has to be the most in depth resto vid on you tube. amazing work and sure there must be some stresses but you're clearly having the time of your life doing it! only thing to me personally look odd are thse side decals, its such a pure piece of design those detract IMO and also cover up some of the glorious stainless.....but they do have a cool factor I guess.
Man. That car looks amazing. And you're amazing for restoring it! I really appreciate people who will put time, effort and passion into bringing these beauties into their former glory. Once again, excellent work!
huge recommendation for 3M tape: small needlenose pliers. Grip the corner across, get a fold started, then roll. Loving this series, can't wait for engine!!
Unbelievable restoration by such an enthusiastic guy! To see this from beginning to now shows so much dedication to the original detail whilst making changes to make it easier to reassemble and improve the alignment of panels ‘It’s so good!’
I love how excited you are about this car. It makes me excited. You also reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the DeLorean. It's too bad for me he price has exploded. It wasn't that long ago these cars were selling for $5,500.
Hello young man I just finished watching this last video of the DeLorean detail and assembly and I am going to tell you that has been my dream car every since it came out back and I think it was 1980 I was about 17 years old and I dreamed about that car over and over I even went over to Toyota of Irving that was the dealership that sold the DeLorean‘s in Dallas. I dreamed about that car for so many years and ask and pray about it but I know it’s only material things of this world and I know I cannot take it with me when I die but being 60 years old now I don’t think I can ever afford one or even only one but I am so happy for you. I really am very very happy for you congratulations on your fine graduations and having all that money it’s been a very fun series of videos to watch and I truly enjoyed them. Maybe the good Lord and Jesus Christ might give me one later but I don’t know , But I don’t know the Lord works in mysterious ways something tragic happened about a month ago and I gave it to the Lord and in three days it came true the answer I needed because the central air conditioning heating went out in my house and I have no money to replace it but everything worked out perfectly after I gave it to the Lord and he took care of financing awesome. Young man God bless you your family and your friends and all your viewers on this channel I pray to the Lord Jesus Christ to bring you lots of love and your family and peace and prosperity and safety for everyone you know God bless you once again young man. I guess you could say I’m living my dream through you just watching you put it back together. I wish to live near Dallas Texas trust me I love that course so much you have no idea take care young man and stay safe. ✝️✝️✝️🙏🏻🇺🇸😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i’m so happy for you I really am.❤
Hey Alex , When doing decals in the future , you might try the way the factory and professional sign shops do it and that is by using soap and water or glass cleaner methods ! They go on so much easier and straighter without airbubbles , just spray down the panel and the decal ,then place it where you want it with the backing removed , then you lock it in place using a squeegee too remove the water and soap from between the panels and the decals ! It is so easy and makes for a perfect fit and installation ! This method doesn't change the way the decals will stick and infact may even improve its adhesive abilities ! Hope this helps you in the future builds !
Wow. I didnt think there was that much of a difference in the restoration until I saw the comparison at the end. Night and day. The car looks amazing. I'm very happy for you. Cant wait for the engine to be sorted now.
This has been dope. I have gone through every Playlist you have and caught up over the past months and I love your attention to detail. So glad to hear you're lowering it. Great job bro.
You will have the Delorean finished in plenty of time. I have all the confidence in the world that this Delorean will be running and driving. You can do it, Alex!!
You both ARE pros. Experts. This is great revival. Oh, rockin the stash. Keep it and gotta to a small handlebar too. Will help us tell you two apart when shot is side and not full face. Plus you’ll rock it.
I ceramic-coated the stainless on my DeLorean almost 5 years ago and the water still beads like crazy. Makes the car easy to blower-dry. It also makes fingerprints a bit less noticeable but much easier to remove. I gave the car a once-over with Barkeeper’s Friend liquid before the ceramic so the stainless had the bare minimum amount of oxidation before I sealed it. It really held its luster because of that.
I'm brand new to your channel but your child like enthusiasm and hilarious inner monologuing is so refreshing and entertaining. I think I'll be watch more videos. 💯
When installing decals with lots of different pieces, use a heat gun or a small torch before peeling off the paper facing. It helps significantly. Especially with the smaller ones. The car looks amazing! Great work! Loved watching this restoration!
There's no need for heat at all with paper transfer tape. Just wet it with a little water and after a few seconds it will release very easily. And if you have intricate details leave it wet for a minute longer and the paper will just slide right off.
"I always like to tighten these (wipers) by hand" not 10 seconds after using the impact on the passenger wiper lol But great series, the car looks amazing!

Look to the uk for help and advice on that Renault V6 engine it was very common in the uk there will be wealth of tuning knowledge here if you need it. Please try and keep it as original as possible. It already looks stunning.
Your attention to detail and mania for making this car match your childhood dream is inspiring.
The decal stripes cover up some that beautiful brushed aluminum which seems wrong.
36:41 wait a minute, I recgonize that part, they used it on the Dune buggy in the third movie, so they just took a part of the car and put it on the exterior lol also alec with the decall, get another D, a piece of wood, a ruler and a razor, messure what is missing, and cut it on the wood, without the slants, just the basic amount that is missing from the edge to the inside of the decal, then messure the cuts you need to do on it, trace it on the back of the decal since its white, flip it upside down against it till it matches, then cut
'
and then very carefully apply it, if you do it right it should line up perfectly given the edge of the D should be perfectly symetrical with your cut
Subbed! ;)
Yes, this one restoration is great. Another good one is Ronald Finger and his Fiero. I think you may like it and his attention to detail
Totally, agreeing with you.
@@leed7951 Thanks, I'll check that out.
@@leed7951 I'm up to Part 5 of Ronnie Finger, and it's great, thanks.
I used to enjoy watching things like Wheeler Dealers (Edd China), but some of the stuff on RUclips now is really great.
I never thought I'd enjoy watching things like re-upholstery so much. lol
I really want to restore a car one day, but having never taken a driving test, and not having a garage, it's tricky.
Well done!
What an incredible amount of work & passion put into the restoration, but also in video editing. You've earned your DeLorean 100%
Thank you again for taking me back in time
Keep up the great content
That car looks like a miracle. I’ve watched every episode in anticipation and you totally wowed us! Great job Alex!
Your attention to detail is astounding!!! Can’t wait to see the engine fixed and watch it run under its own power!!!! The 80’s kid in me is going wild!!! I love seeing your passion shine as bight as the stainless steel!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Yeah, the creators of Mortal Kombat are from Chicago. Subtle.
Awesome job Alex! Your enthousiam is contagious and the real joy of this show.
Absolutely love this series! Great job on the restore. Your enthusiasm and humor throughout was the chef’s kiss.
This DeLorean look s absolutely MINT!! You can be really proud of yourself (and the team that helped you). What a dream come true.
Alex, this is your best series. I love the work you’ve done to bring it back and can’t wait to see you driving it 👍🏻🫵🏻👊🏻
You’re decal skills are insane! Nice job keeping those all square. This restore is amazing. Love your videos!
Thanks Middle aged dude who grew up with these films. Thanks!
Great job!
this restoration is what it’s all about. incredibly inspiring. fantastic job, alex!
There's a reason why people like the Hyundai Vision 74. It's because the DMC-12 is so iconic. Its a look that'll never go stale. Incredible restoration. It looks almost brand new, heck, better than new with how much work you put in to dialing in the panel gaps
This was one of my favorite LSC videos of all time. Great job Alex! Keep pushing!
Excellent job, Alex! Looking forward to seeing you get this car running and driving! Thanks man!
Second to the party - Alex’s enthusiasm and excitement for this Delorean resto is contagious.
Also vote for TT LS but that’s me…. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is so great you saved this car! Can't wait to see it running. You are living the dream I can't imagine how awesome it must be to own one.
Alex, you are the BEST of automotive RUclipsrs……. Keep kicking ass!
These are nice but way too dark.
totaly agree
cheers
Your work is second to none Alex and all you put into your work inspires others. This delorean is really amazing and your work is really apparent in the details which are totally worth it. These videos will pull a ton of new subscribers in. Not to mention the amount of views.
I guess if you took that car in orig. condition to a restoration shop you’d be looking at a $100,000 plus job and 6 months plus and … it would NOT turn out as well. Alex is a smart and dedicated guy. He deserves the success on YT.
I can't even begin to imagine the work that went into this but you showed us all of it in the process of working on it. Love this series!
Absolutely phenomenal restoration job Alex, your DeLorean is absolutely beautiful great job can't wait to see the remainder of the build
Not a car guy at all, but I've found this riveting from start to finish. Great job! I'll be following for more! \m/
this is how it starts
I’m in the middle of pt 2 here and I had to pause to say Alex, this series has been absolutely fantastic man! Excellent job!!! 🎉
Seeing Alex be so dedicated to doing things the right way motivates me to do things the right way despite the sheer amount of time and effort.
Congrats man! The car looks absolutely amazing and the effort truly shows! :D
You say your not artistic. You rebuilt a damn De Lorean!!! That's artistry.
Need a Barbie hoverboard for the golf bag storage area.
It's a true shame the car isn't still being built. It's such, and Icon of a car!
im 47 and that's the cleanest damn delorean i have ever seen! inside and out just phenomenal!
Run DMC 😂😂
Sorry, I'm going to give a thumbs down for the letters on the rear bumper. I get it to make it stand out but they stand out a little too much.
I think that tone of lights is exatly what they would like to have back in the days BUT there was no technologies for that. SO perfect choiche!
Absolutely wonderful series! Who knew I needed to see this car! Awesome to see you giddy like a kid when completing this project. It's a keeper!
I love your attention to detail. (Getting rid of rust from places people would never see). It satisfies my OCD appetite. 😊
Rear window louvers = absolute magic...can't get enough of cars that have these.
My man this is awesome! I inherited a 1972 C20 Suburban from my father, and watching this has given me the confidence to start on it! Thank you!
My god, the stainless brushed letters on the rear bumper... door jams and the decals. My gosh..Needed upgrades for sure! Great work Alexxxxxx
Amazing Transformation Alex. The Delorean looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the mechanical video!
Thanks Steve!
I have been waiting for so long to see a DeLorean restoration video. This is awesome! Can't wait to see it more on the channel
Hey Alex ,
When doing decals in the future , you might try the way the factory and professional sign shops do it and that is by using soap and water or glass cleaner methods !
Just finished the video. Excellent work on this and congratulations on your amazing De Lorean
Detailing is SOOO satisfying...Its like AMSR. I love all the little stuff you are doing to make her look great!
Alex, you're like a little kid on Christmas day. Love the enthusiasm.
This was my favorite series from you. Keep it going, wish you and your channel the best. Great personality and humor as well.
"I always like to tighten these (wipers) by hand" not 10 seconds after using the impact on the passenger wiper lol
But great series, the car looks amazing!
Im a brand new viewer, sad i just found you today...
i love your dedication and the overall hype you got for that project!!!
i hope i can soon find a barn i can rent to follow your "lifestyle".
This is the way i want to enjoy life like you do!!
Keep up and good luck for your future project - a brand new subscriber!!
Use white vinegar and soak a few days to remove rust. Rinse thoroughly and paint! Great project!!
Sure you will get it done, ready and driving. Your approach to fixing and teaching is spot on and inspiring - at least for me :) :) I am really into old American 60´s 70 ś muscle cars and thanks to you thinking more and more of restoring, fixing, building one with my son one day. He is only two now so I have some time to think and let it sink in how to start. Thanks for your dedicated work and continuous entertainment that really is useful aswell. Best of luck to your family and crew.
