I love how the title of the movie pops up right when the pastor says "fornication is a sin."
Wouldn't it have made more sense to show the title a few seconds earlier when the up beat music was playing? This whole trailer is edited weird and I love it.

I dunno, man. I've seen some weird stuff in the Pentecostal churches I've been to. Several of them have actually done stuff like burn incense, so you might be ok in the right one. Just tone down the gold robes to a stole or something with a bunch of crosses and random verses in Hebrew on it and you'll be good. The Latin should be fine as well, so long as you shout it in the middle of the sermon, and as long as people don't realize you're speaking an actual language- which is what actually happened at Pentecost.

Don't know about racism, but yeah, I witnessed plenty of pretentious judgment growing up within the Lutheran Church. The worst one was a young pastor that came to us with his two kids. The man could be funny or deep and frequently connected sermons to real world experiences. The senior members loved him right up until they learned he had divorced years prior. I later learned that ours was the second church that had complained enough to get him reassigned. He eventually found his place in a more contemporary church, but I haven't been able to add my name to a congregation after witnessing such petty ugliness. Also, yes, several members that condemned him had been divorced, but just loooved the rush they got from judging people.

We are all sinners, but there are those that refuse to look inward before judging others That these people cared about superficial appearances is indeed sad, but there were consequences. This series of events was around fifteen years back. I have since learned from my own mother that our old church *still* doesn't have a permanent pastor. They subsist on temporary assignments and new pastors cutting their teeth. The same gaggle of senior busybodies that cared so much about appearances still occupy their old positions, but now preside over a failing church that is hemorrhaging members year after year. Meanwhile, Pastor Ronnie is still at his new post, has remarried, and presumably nobody blames him for daring to be human.

This has nothing to do with a "white savior" as you would suggest, but promoting racial unity in the church instead, and that's beside the fact that it was produced by black people.

This movie has its moments, some very good moments....other times, oh well. The opening scene in my opinion in very weak. An associate Pastor starts running around during worship, 'filled with the spirit'. It would have made more sense if he started running around during a hymn as opposed to what comes across as a a very plodding sermon as I see it. With that being said if you can get through the opening the movie has some very good moments...sometimes the acting is wonderful, other times plodding.
Jon's daughter makes friends with a girl at a new school....and you can almost hear the director telling them 'act like you like one another'. Contrast that with her scene in the trailer where she asks 'why can't he be like other Dad's' which I thought was well acted.
There is a good message in this movie I believe....God will find a place for you.

I am a Christian. I might lift my hands or gyrate a little in the pews but I'm not going to do something to distract others from worshipping. This man is being disruptive. Paul said to be careful that you exercising your freedom doesn't become a stumbling block to those who are weak in their faith (1Cor. 8:9 ) which is what is happening here. Also, God is not the author of confusion which is what you see on everyone else's faces while he is doing it. If someone who is not a Christian were to visit this church and see this activity it would drive them away from Christ.

Michael JoToya Jackson... Why are you full of hate? You do realize that you could've just as easily been born into a white body as black one. I don't care about skin color or bloodlines. I worship alongside Christian brothers ans sisters of all skin colors. You are wrong about those who began Christianity. Christ Himself, the Son of God, started Christianity when He sent the apostles out. Many of those apostles with dark skin. BUT...true Christianity is not about bloodlines its about having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Its not a religion. Its a relationship with God. God initiates this relationship by first sending His Son to die for your sinfulness (your hateful disposition included) and then calling you to repent and accept His mercy extended to you by Christ's death thereby receiving the forgiveness you need and the hope of eternal life. You sir are rejecting that.

    • @rickp9109

Paul said to be careful that you exercising your freedom doesn't become a stumbling block to those who are weak in their faith (1Cor. 8:9 ) which is what is happening here.
Also, God is not the author of confusion which is what you see on everyone else's faces while he is doing it.
If someone who is not a Christian were to visit this church and see this activity it would drive them away from Christ.

Your ads are not welcome on the atheism videos that I watch. Although I did get a good laugh from this but not the one you were wanting. This seems like a parody of Christian movies while still being a christian movie.
