1994 that's crazy! I was 14 years old when this album was released, remember it like yesterday and loved it! So much so I also bought the guitar tab book and learnt all the songs. Mustaine, Ellefson, Friedman and Menza R.I.P. in my eyes the most solid Megadeth that ever was. Keep it rocking!
@@wewlad2917 ? It’s not “drop d” it’s standard d tuning , lots of songs and bands play in this tuning and it certainly doesn’t lack melody or sound generic !
I think the riff in Never Walk Alone is actually the original version of the Vortex riff but they changed it for the album. It's not the Vortex riff from Cryptic Writings he's playing if you listen closely. Dave has been known to use riffs and variations he wrote years ago in newer albums.

I'm sure RIP Nick Menza is playing drums everyday now and all the time, making drum rolls which he couldn't make on earth, limitless drumming he is involved now- who really knows, may be we're the dead, and the passed away are lively now
The cool thing about this album in particular is that every backing track except for a few overdubs are recorded live and that is just mind blowing especially playing the kind of music megadeth played.
This is why most bands were broke even they sold millions. Their demands before even producing anything were ridiculous. Studio rent was roughly $100-$500 per HOUR. Now imagine, building in up from scratch. Not just a recording studio/room, but basically a recording camp!! All in one WAREHOUSE...live there, play there, recreations. Then...the machines..??!
No es ningun Dios, es un ser humano mortal con talento que lo supo aprovechar. Dios es el creador de todo lo que ves y le dio el talento a Dave de tocar la guitarra e inteligencia así como a los demás talentos diferentes.
this album was plagued by the "scooped" mixing and later on even worse on the remaster... you can actually hear the guitar solos loud and clear on the studio demos and even on the Cassette release (some kind soul shared the audio recording of it here on youtub)
a studio inside a warehouse !?! But how can such a thing beeeee ? How can they fit in such a space, all their POWWWERRRR !? forgive me i am but an ignorant klingon
The best album of this band was, Rust in piece, while the best album of Metallica was Master of puppets. Both bands could never reproduce the brilliance of those compositions...
@@GIOO-M it's definitely not Blood of Heroes. I think it's either a section of a song that was cut, or maybe even an entire song that didn't make it. It's such a great solo.
ahora entiendo porque no me gustaron las fotos del disco en la papeleta esperaba ver algo mas metalero mas genuino algo a Megadeth, parecian poperos jeje.... uno de mis discos favoritos de toda la vida.
Man it's funny I learned holy wars way back in 1990 I think I thought what difficult song but just genius still isn't easy to play a friend of mine told me he new a bunch of megadeth years later he was a blues rock older guy could not play fast ge hated the speeds I played at I thought no way he can play megadeth he started playing all these like super cool rock riffs I ask what it was he said megadeth I was like no way thats megadeth had a augment then he put on the c.d and sure enough it was fucking megadeth this very lol I was extremely disappointed being hardcore thrash teenager but I decided to learn the songs and I was just so amazed how great the riffs were and the solos fit so perfectly doing 2 different keys in a solo it totally took my playing in a new direction instead of just being extremely fast and aggressive in every song I played this album helped me understand music on a totally different level
10:47 He wanted to reach 60, but he left us early at 51...He was supposed to have a birthday on 23 of july.Rust in peace Nick Menza, Legend!
Im just listening to this now and that part at around 10:50 is sad.
R.I.P
And he was playing jazz or something like that. Ironic
R.I.P NICK
just commented the same, these time vault docs blow my mind.
"I don´t want to play anything heavier because I want to live to be 60" - Nick Menza R.I.P he was 52
poor nick, at 10:52 he assured he wanted to live at least up to 60 and didnt make it.. how sad.
Youthanasia is one of my favourite albums
Botram Duuze Yes finally the love this album deserves, its in my top 3 Megadeth albums.
Youthanasia is an epic album. Obviously its not thrash but who cares. The music is great. RIP Nick
I agree with you
it is an prog thrash album definitly in some songs... BUT it's an heavy metal album with great influences of hard rock and speed metal
@@kryptoniana9489 i saw dave in a interview blaming Max Norman about the speed of the allbym

I love the solos on this record, they don't make em' this good anymore!
Not sure if you have but give dystopia a good listen. It is a masterpiece.

Don't know if anyone noticed but at 6:38 Marty is playing a riff from Never Walk Alone. It was on a Megadeth album that came out in 2007.
It could be Vortex , which came out in 1997
It is "Vortex". I've always thought that the main riff of "Never Walk Alone" sounded very similar to the main riff from "Vortex".
I think the riff in Never Walk Alone is actually the original version of the Vortex riff but they changed it for the album. It's not the Vortex riff from Cryptic Writings he's playing if you listen closely. Dave has been known to use riffs and variations he wrote years ago in newer albums.
14:06 they used that riff in their next album in Vortex song and in 24:14 it's the Fff song
Yup, absolutely! And 7:23, does anyone recognizes that? I think they have never used it on any song...
Javier Ignacio Lazzarino Sucunza That riff came out in Thirteen album, listen to the backing track of We the people and you can hear the exact pattern
what about 4:24?
And fight for freedom riff based on motorbreath riff
damn, Nick loved Megadeth, great documentary and album
15:35 I feel like Dave is a better teacher than most of us get. "And mistakes...and mistakes...and mistakes". That's actually what it takes to succeed at anything.

I’ve still got this on vhs! Haven’t seen this in years🤘
30 years later, this is one of the best Megadeth albums and one of the most forgotten by the band without any apparent reason.
This documentary is AWESOME!

Thx for posting! I'd loose the dvd^^. Cant wait for 2022 album.
7:21 Early version of "We The People" from Th1rt3en perhaps?!
at least the drum beats were used
Damn really
It is
It’s all at 120bpm, which is a bit weird for a whole album to be at the same tempo front to back.
the part in between 4:24 - 5:13 i´d love to get out on record
Hard to believe that no one could have predicted everything that happened from those days until today.
Good old times in 90s i miss
47:10 Elysian Fields demo?
yes they even end by singing Elysian Fields
yes they even end by singing Elysian Fields
It's a shame they did not add those pieces. Marty's solo was annihilating.
@@rallyivan1234 one should ask Dave Mustaine to release a new version of Elysian Fields, why it was left out, somebody has to inquire about that
Megadeth wanted to make a very commercial proposition at that time, as this docummentary shows.
24:16, literally Motorbreath

why not just go to a studio instead of building one in a warehouse?
'Cause nobody wanted to rent a studio for a band called Megadeth. They said it in interview.

so studios can discriminate based on a bands name? sounds like bad business
