The way I see it is. Metallica are a cool band. Megadeth are a cool band. Case closed. I listen to and enjoy both bands. For what they have contributed to the metal world.
Metallica wouldn't of had the early recognition if it wasn't for Dave's music that he left behind when they kicked him out. But Metallica still rocks to this day.
really digging the mix where the bass is intelligible. jr. is really a giant in the bass world. he mutes during regular play, and lets ring during solo's. love the position of the mic. for a change anyway.
Management - “Hey you guys can have a gigantic painting of anything you can imagine for your backdrop. What’s it gonna be? Evil Wizards? Satan and hot demon chicks in Hell? Post apocalyptic America? Dragons? Aliens?” Dave “no way dude. Boxes.”
Brings back great memories. I was obsessed with Megadeth in this era. Was at this tour in New Haven, CT. Unfortunately shortly after this is when they started losing me. “Countdown” has some solid songs, but the pure menace of previous albums was absent. It was a new, cleaner, nicer Megadeth. Glad they kept soldiering on, but Rust In Peace was the be all, end all for me.
Same here boss. I remember sitting in my bedroom after begging my mother to take me to the Kmart to purchase Rust in Peace after it came out, guitar in my lap trying to figure out Holy Wars The Punishment Due. 30 years later and I still haven't nailed it down completely, though I do a fairly decent reproduction of Dave's ending solo, nor have I found a more perfect metal song. I wanted to be Dave Mustaine when I was a young teenager. Oddly however, I saved up my paper route earnings and bought a Jackson Kelly, like Marty played. Not a king V like Mustaine. To this day, I think that Kelly Standard is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever owned.
@Ira van den Heuvel - Awesome! Yeah I’m a guitar player as well and I bought the book of guitar tabs for Rust In Peace back then, attempting to learn the rhythm parts to a bunch of those songs. I remember Lucretia giving me problems. That solo by Dave at the end of Holy Wars is in my top 3 all-time favorite guitar solos ever. Still gives me goosebumps! I love the aggression and build of it. Marty’s stuff is fantastic on that album as well, and a great contrast to Dave’s meaner, dirtier style. These “Vault” videos have reinvigorated my old Megadeth obsession a bit and as a result I just listened to “Dystopia” this week for the very first time. It’s cool and I’ll listen more, I just gotta realize that Rust In Peace was kind of the end of that particular era for the band. Cheers!
RIP NM!! An awesome drummer!! Love him!! And what I love about MF is that he really thinks on how to build the solos; it's not like throwing notes everywhere, it's a real solo composition. Beautiful!!! Megadeth on its prime!! Tks for sharing!!!
Wow, the concert intro (starting at 21:40) with the "authoritarian" figure listing the martial law rules is SO apropos right now! Megadeth looked 30 years into the future!
For real? I'm in my forties now and I honestly can't remember a time when I hadn't heard people use that expression. Interesting, the variability of people's own experiences when compared to others.

никто из металл-групп не дал мне такого, как они. Megadeth в венах течёт..
Great video!
Camera man is a real hero for switching to Marty's side during hanger 😆
I gotta tell ya..dave ellefson knows how to rock!
Megadeth at their best!
marty boring the women :)
21:38 the show intro reminds me of the current stay at home order during the pandemic.😁
See! Mustaine predicted the pandemic 😉
How eerily accurate that opening monolog is to today's world.
rust in peace Nick Menza
How is this 1990 when they are practicing "Ashes in your Mouth" at 4:28....Maybe they were working on it....And no that's not " Five Magics"......! Interesting!
Definitely the best line up. Everyone was on point. Sad what happened to nick he was troubled but so talented at the same time
Marty is an amazing player always will be despite ellefsons recent drama I still respect the hell out of him an amazing player never gets the credit he deserves
megadeth deserves so much more credit than metallica
The way I see it is. Metallica are a cool band. Megadeth are a cool band. Case closed. I listen to and enjoy both bands. For what they have contributed to the metal world.
+lowjamz828 Yep, I was already tired of people comparing the two in the 80s. Thirty years later, this shit is still going?
Thats damn right.
Metallica wouldn't of had the early recognition if it wasn't for Dave's music that he left behind when they kicked him out. But Metallica still rocks to this day.
yes, and hopefully it´ll never stop
That hook in mouth was insane. Especially the bass
If they only would’ve known how stupid they acted/talked back then but everyone thought it was so cool LOL
They play Hangar 18 so fast, how the hell does Marty manage to keep up?
Answer......
He's GOD
I was thinking the same thing, impossible to play at the recorded tempo, never mind this insanity!!
Mind blowing
really digging the mix where the bass is intelligible. jr. is really a giant in the bass world. he mutes during regular play, and lets ring during solo's. love the position of the mic. for a change anyway.
Megadeth is so out of this world!! I love Megadeth!
48:32 these musicians who could play complex riffs and sing at the same time always amazed me.
34:00 fuckin marty on another planet.. thats what you call bein in the zone
4:07 Sounds like early Ashes in Your Mouth
Management - “Hey you guys can have a gigantic painting of anything you can imagine for your backdrop. What’s it gonna be? Evil Wizards? Satan and hot demon chicks in Hell? Post apocalyptic America? Dragons? Aliens?” Dave “no way dude. Boxes.”
Lmao
And Vic Rattlehead!
Don't leave out Vic.... he's there!
Cheers!
I love the part near the beginning where Marty and David are playing a part to Ashes In Your Mouth.
Nick Menza, Marty Friedman and both Dave!!! A dream line up! 🤘🤘🍻
Testament sounds awesome from what I can hear
Ellefson's tone is just perfect.
RIP NM!! An awesome drummer!! Love him!! And what I love about MF is that he really thinks on how to build the solos; it's not like throwing notes everywhere, it's a real solo composition. Beautiful!!! Megadeth on its prime!! Tks for sharing!!!
Marty is d reason they became bigger then Metallica in 1990's
Bigger than Metallica?
I want what you’re smoking
Mart is incredible - their records were better - but Metallica sold more. Black album outsold Rust in Peace 16 to 1 to the US.
it's not about fuckin business, it's about art, so yea, Marty is God :)
Megadeth was on the same level as Metallica at one point, so yeah....either way Megadeth still reigns over Metallica!
1:00:31
R.I.P For the Jackson King V😂😂
12:47 LOL Okay?
Wow, the concert intro (starting at 21:40) with the "authoritarian" figure listing the martial law rules is SO apropos right now! Megadeth looked 30 years into the future!
Yep, we've never been closer to living that intro for real.
Intro says, among other things, no more than two people may gather....
“Hook In Mouth” is always relevant. Dave’s lyrics transcend time
Especially in 2022 ! The Woke cult overlords are FAR worse then old Tipper and her husband......
6:31 oh god oh god oh god oh god that DAVE
And Nick!!!
They're all super hot here 😍😘❤️
Me trying to learn a megadeth riff 5:14
I didn't know the slang "for days" was that old. I thought it was a newer thing.
For real? I'm in my forties now and I honestly can't remember a time when I hadn't heard people use that expression. Interesting, the variability of people's own experiences when compared to others.
1:16 Nikes for days
1:06:03 the look on Juniors face "don't let dave hear this!"
Best Megadeth lineup of all time.
Ellefson is looking so damn hot in this video. But he's adorable anyway, even today, cos he's so nice :)
Ellefson is like a human metronome...his bass is always just so fucking solid and driving everything.
