  • In this video I am restoring the front leaf spring from the little Fiat. Also I am building the preload tool needed when installing the spring back in the car.

    Great tutorial. How many centimeters is the distance from the leaf-spring to the tool for the proper assembly? Thanks

      Thank you. I did not measure, but I did tighten it more under the car, until the center rubber tip on top of the spring did not touch the body.

    Oddly satisfying... Crăcănel has been permanently replaced by the new fluff ball?

    Just swapped out mine for a lower one with the special brackets. Do you perhaps now how long it usual will take for it to settle to it's normal height?

      @AircooledProject  Год назад

      If you used the compressor tool, I think it should be at the right height immediately. I didn't notice any lowering on mine after installation. Maybe ~1cm, not really noticeable.

      I did just restore my old spring. If you fit a new one, it may need some time to settle.

      @@AircooledProjectYes, it will not be the same as a new one I guess.

      Most of fiat 500 parts stores has it. I got it from passione500.

    Great work, how much did new parts cost? where did you buy them?
    Thank you in advance

      Thank you! I got most of the parts from Axel Gerstl in Germany and a few from Passione500 in Italy. Axel is usually on the expensive side, but service is very good, fast shipping. Also check out Fdricambi, I plan on buying some parts from them also. All the new parts until now were about 3000 eur, including some non essential ones, accessories and a 123ignition electronic distributor that I didn't film. If you were asking only about the parts for the leaf spring, those are very cheap, maybe 30-40 eur from Axel Gerstl.

      @@AircooledProject great thank you for the info. Did you buy those plastic things also from him?

      The ones that go around the leafspring? Yes, it comes as a kit with the metal bands, it should be available in all 3 webstores I mentioned previously.
