HOW TO HAND CATCH YOUR FPV DRONE | Hand Launch and Hand Catch FPV Tutorial

  • This was one skill that I find incredibly valuable as an FPV drone pilot. There are a lot of instances where it is hard to find a good landing for your drone. Being able to hand launch and hand catch your drone can save you in those scenarios. When I wanted to learn how, I looked to RUclips. But, unfortunately, I couldn't find any videos on the topic. So I wanted to make a quick tutorial for anyone interested in learning!

    This video should have a giant red flashing warning that this WILL seriously harm you if you're not extremely careful and experienced. Not worth the risk for me

    Super helpful, I didn’t even know about angle mode. Thanks for the tip!

    Hmmm... teaching people that don't know what angle mode is how "easy" it is to fly a flying buzzsaw at yourself line of sight... Is that a good idea?

      @@DrDepth89might should atleast mention how dangerous this actually is if you're gunna take the time to explain what angle mode is 😂
      My favorite part was when he hovered that 7inch beast about 2ft infront of his face as if it couldn't give him a life long make over with a simple gusting wind 😮

    Thanks for this! Hand catching is so practical when you are in difficult terrain! 👏 You just need to make sure you disarm before catching!

    I just switch air mode off and go 0 throttle right before I land. As cool as that looks and helpful...eh I think I'll stick to what works :) not getting my fingers cut off lol

    It's easy when you have a battery at the bottom of the drone ,I'm waiting for a video with the 5 inch drone ,especially the hand launch 😉 thank for tutorial 😊

    You gotta share those Pids and tune for your quads for the next video. The way you launch your drone out is butter.

    Very cool! I think the tough part is removing the goggles from our head. I should try this. Thanks! Also, am I right in Iceland, we don't need a permit?

    Hi thanks for this video
    What is the advantage of Pre-arm mode?

    • @rookery_
      @rookery_ 8 месяцев назад +1

      Pre-arm is implemented via an additional aux channel. Betaflight requires the pre-arm aux to be active before it will permit the arm channel to actually arm the quad. This basically provides an additional layer of protection against user error - i.e. the arm switch being active when the pilot thinks it isn't! In this video the pre-arm appears to be on a two-position switch, but I personally prefer to use a momentary switch.

    • @richardruckert7954
      @richardruckert7954 8 месяцев назад

      @@rookery_ thank you
      Being that you hold the quad with the right hand, you must use a left hand momentary switch.
      Ever have any close calls hand launching?

    • @rookery_
      @rookery_ 8 месяцев назад

      @@richardruckert7954 Ha, very boring answer: I have pre-arm on right momentary, and arm on left 2-pos. This means both hands are required to arm, providing additional protection, but kinda ruling out hand-launching. It also means I will never look as cool as Parker Sheppard (but I may finish up with a higher finger count!)

    Not great, what happens if a beginner has put on props in the wrong direction when launching? I would advise against this at all costs. What would come of a fumble of the controller or if the angle mode was not properly calibrated when coming in for a hand catch?
    (Great video quality and location)

    • @williamlosch

      I respect the pre-arm acknowledgement though

      an easy solution is to never hand launch a maiden flight which i imagine no one who hand launches ever does because its stupid (myself included)

    Hi I got question,
    When u hand catch, u said turn on angle mode, but is your airmode still activate ? With means both angle and airmode are turn on ?

  • @scottgivens27

    Everyone and I mean EVERYONE, who is interested in hand catching, already has enough flight time experience and realizes the risk and dangers of FPV no matter what you do.
    I’m so tired of Karen’s requesting red flag warnings for stupid people. Hell every time you fly, you run the risk of hurting others if electronic failure happens to your quad, while flying safely…that’s facts! So by these Karen’s standards, every single FPV flight video should have a red flag warning for stupid people not not attempt FPV flying period.
    If you fly FPV, you’ve already learned common sense the hard way, before watching this video
    Great video…Great instructions!! Keep it up, us non Karen’s approve! Whimps, don’t fly FPV
