Dear sweet Melissa ~ I can tell you that this American does not mind at all when you say trainer or jumper. It's adorable and it is suited to your spot on the map. Just like anyone in England wouldn't expect Americans to use English terms when they're doing their RUclips videos or blogs. You are very kind to comment 'or sneakers (sweaters) as you say in America' ~ but again also not expected. Sure hope there aren't fellow Americans making you feel like you should. Hi, I just wanted to tell you how much you’ve helped me. As a 59-year-old woman I never really knew how to dress, I don’t like to shop, but I do like to look good or at least put together when I go out. Your videos have helped immensely, and I’m now building a wardrobe that is functional and focuses on neutral colors which I tend to love anyway. No more bright crazy prints or patterns for me. Please keep your videos coming. They have been a lifesaver for me and my sisters by the way!

Thank you for mentioning the sizing! OMG I have been trying to buy from Amazon a pair of linen pants with an stretch waist. I tried the small, then the med, then the large - finally the large worked. I'm a size 8 to 10. In stretch waist usually can do a small. Then I ordered a different color and the large just fit. so very inconsistent in sizing. I would have laughed but these days with my older figure I feel a bit sensitive that my fit / trim self has changed. So I wasn't very amused. Nice video - I love the ones for older ( over 60 ladies ) but it is fun to see what the younger crowd is wearing too.
I really do love your videos. They are by far the most relatable I've found. Your advice along with the reasons why is so helpful. Thank you for all you do.
Melissa thank you for the brilliant advice about shoe style. You have helped me enormously as I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t warm to Mary Jane or the two tone styles. Now I have it🙏🏻❤Also buy the similar colour in different styles is another great idea.

Love your videos Melissa! Would be great to see one teaching how to style Birkenstocks, as they are so on trend and so comfortable but somehow can be tricky to make good outfits.

Loving that gray jumper on you! I need to get in the habit of wearing a tee underneath sweaters more often, it really adds such depth and contrast to an outfit. Thanks as always for taking us along! 🥰
Really enjoy your videos and appreciate the amount of effort and information you include in each of them. Your attention to the details…collar, sleeves, fabric individuals body shape and style to consider before purchasing is very helpful!
Hello Melissa from America. love your channel love all the great information on how to dress so much better. I enjoy all of your English terms you stay true to your nationality I love it
I would appreciate a video on trends....what's on it's way in, what's going out, what seems to be staying. Knowing this helps with making more thoughtful purchases. For example, I like the chunky loafers; and now I know that if I'm going to participate in that trend, I should do it sooner than later and not invest a lot into it. As always, your insight and knowledge is truly appreciated!!
I've had a pair of Chanel ballet flats in the colors you have for a few years. They are totally not my style, but when I wear them with a matching Gabrielle bag I feel like a princess!
Great video and great styling tips for an EVERYday woman! Also very thankful you showed grey (and not beige which is v difficult for someone 60+ and grey hair) as a neutral. Thank you.
Hello, I love your videos and learn so much from them that I have put into practice. I enjoy hearing jumper and trainer. I am a from Southern Californian and we always referred to trainers as tennis shoes. It didn’t matter if the shoes were specifically designed for tennis or the person never even played tennis. Once in a while I heard sneakers. Personally I enjoy the variety, it makes things fun and interesting for me. 😊
So funny! Myself, too! I grew up in Monterey CA from 1974 through 1984 (ages 10-20); exactly...*everyone called {them} "Tennis-shoes," all the time. Never heard them referred to as ""Sneakers"" except for when I lived on the east coast. It's still a funny word to me, "sneakers." I still call them "Tennis-shoes"LOL Obviously, for fashion purposes, I do now use/understand the need (of most fashion gurus) wanting to say 'Trainers'/'Athletic-shoes' (when suggesting ideal footwear for certain outfits) OR 'Sneaker'/Court-shoe/Low-profile shoe. It helps. But the *most-comfortable shoe truly is an actual 'Athletic shoe''/Running-shoe, in my opinion. 🤪 Guess I've been out of style for way too long..
I saw an older masterclass video you did for someone with a figure very similar to mine. I love my style but still have insecurities. You not only said it was ok but said it was best tucked in on my shape which I always do. You don’t know what that means getting that reassurance! Thank you SO much! ❤
I have been trying for so long to find a trench coat that is totally water proof, good quality and also really stylish, and yes, a hood would be really helpful too...! I like that you acknowledge the difficulty of that 😂
Thank you so much Melissa (and Sarah and team)!!! This was a great mix! I watch all of your videos and love a masterclass, but this was really helpful too. So again thanks for all the work, time and effort you put into this. (And don't excuse for discussing leg lengths in the dressing room ....it's like being there with a friend 😊). Love Sabine 😘
Hello Melissa and team, I am a South African and I have watched many of your videos, love your guidance and insight. I am an interior architect and have just had a thought about your videos, while watching so messaging quick. Have you tried moving the plant and chair to the opposite side, away from the corner. It would possibly give you another foot depth if you use your corner, we can then see your feet better. You could move the mirror back a bit, so in the video we can see the look from behind without you having to turn. Just a thought …. Love what you do and building up to reaching out to you in person. 😊
I really enjoyed today's video looking at this year's Spring fashion. I know they're not very glamorous but I like to wear track suit bottoms rather than leggings mostly as I suffer with cold but as someone in their 70s (UK 10) other than when I'm actually exercising I steer clear. Finding an attractive enough pair of track suit bottoms in a modest price range is really tricky. I agree with so many other comments your videos are really, really helpful and fun....love it when I see your notification pop up! 🤩
I am new to your channel but so enjoy your smart tips and knowledge!!! I am in my mid 50’s and although I’ve learned invaluable info about styling my Apple🍎shape, I also have a flat bottom. Hoping you would do a video on styling an Apple🍎shape with a flat bottom! 😊 Thanks for your amazing content.
Hello and welcome! I’ve done loads of Apple shaped styling as part of my body shape masterclasses where I dress women of all different shapes and sizes live on the channel so have a look at any of those x
Thank you for providing such valuable content that has significantly aided me in revamping my wardrobe. This particular video has prompted me to reconsider my choice of shoes. As someone with very pale skin, I've realized that a stark white hue may not complement me as well. Do you think substituting white kitten heels and loafers with an off-white cream color would be a suitable alternative?
Hi Melissa and team, i really like your video’s and knowledge. Been to uniqlo yesterday trying all your outfits on 😂 and was quite surprised how nice it all looked. I am binge watching and taking everything in. Keep on going!!!! Greetings from Amsterdam
I just discovered this channel! I love what you're doing with clothing. BTW, I'm from California and know what you mean with jumper, trainers, etc. If I said vacation or truck, I know you know what I'm talking about!
Melissa, just be you and don't change how you present or speak! I'm American and have no trouble "interpreting" your word choices! Your information is invaluable to me as I'm near your age and have always struggled with how to style myself. I'm switching from a career in which I could wear t-shirts, jeans and trainers every day to working in an office (real estate). I really need your help! Videos specifically about styling with shoes would be appreciated, as would videos about how to balance the hips for strawberry shaped women. Thank you so much for all your actionable advice!
Hi Melissa, Im bigger busted and find a halter neck or cutaway neck can work well. The problem can be finding a comfortable strapless or convertible bra to wear underneath though.
Great video Melissa. I’m always looking for a very long trench coat. They always feel a it frumpy to me when mid calf on me. They are hard to find, M&s often don’t do long in these but will check them out. 😊
Brilliant video, as always 🎉. I'm learning so much from you. Thank you so much 😊 Not sure if more women would have the same issue, but after breastfeeding two lovely boys, I struggled to find a bra that looks good on me 😢. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. A great thank you for the whole team🎉
We’re filming with a lovely new mum in a few weeks time so we’ll address that then but finding the time to go and get yourself ready-fitted is the best place to start. X
I've just deleted my message as it read too sycophantic but I've learnt such a lot from your videos and I really appreciate what you're doing - thank you 😊
Great video! Suggestions ... bras esp for bigger busts....cami tops with support ..nice cami tops to wear under wrap around dresses etc lily silk idea but more affordable and also wrap around dresses if possible. I'm big busted and short so last master class was v helpful. keep up the super work team x
I'm wandering if you lean towards white boots over black because your hair is light Melissa? My hair is dark and when I put white footwear on, I feel like it looks odd. I can get away with nude heals or white trainers, but white loafers and boots just look a bit strange on me when I pair them with darker colours x
I think you're on to something. I like to wear a white/bone headband or hat if I wear white shoes other than trainers or anything lighter than taupe because my hair is dark. A bookend effect always looks less disconnected.
Well black will certainly link in with your hair and we know in styling that if you wear two items of the same colour then it always look better. Your ‘hair’ and ‘boots’ would be classed as two items together so they’d definitely work. That said, we often use white on our dark haired clients too so both would work x
Please could you add a variety of ivory (not cream) T shirt recommendations to your list. It's easy to find cool white but some people don't suit cool white and it is harder to find good ivory T shirts.
I agree. Just finding nice T shirts is a challenge let alone ivory. @mmpersonalstyling you could probably do a whole video just on classic T shirts lol.
This comment is partially selfish because I’d love a weekly video, but I’m wondering if you DID make a weekly video your followers would increase faster. I think you are at a nice pace, but I love a good experiment;). You and your team are the absolute BEST!!!!!!! I’m trying to talk my husband into a trip to London, so I can set up a day with you😆
Hi Melissa.i have real problems with shoes. I have two ‘fused ankles’ which means that I have no movement in either ankle. I can do a trainer if it has a bit of a heel and not totally flat. I can’t wear ballet pumps (too flat). Generally loafers are too flat. The current kitten heels are too high as I am best in 1”-1.5” heels and no more or less! It’s a real challenge to find something nice that looks good with dresses without it always being trainers. In the winter I can find ankle and knee high boots with the right heel height but summer is a nightmare! Diana
I saw some great tan coloured low cork wedge sandals in Dune. Also, New Balance 327 trainers I'm told are really comfortable for painful/ problem feet x
Another great video thank you. Would you consider filming a video for a holiday capsule wardrobe in the next couple of weeks. I know you did one a couple of years ago but would love one now to be able to shop current pieces before they sell out. I am particularly struggling to find shorts as I am 5’ 10 with long legs but don’t want shorts too long or short.
Absolutely!! It won’t be in the next few weeks though as our holiday summer clothes aren’t quite in the shops yet but it will be in the next few months.
I so look forward to your videos each Sunday and feeling more put together. I was wondering, do you have Lands End in the UK? They are my go-to for Supima cotton jersey t-shirts and pajamas.
We do, I always thought that were named after Lands End in Cornwall, England. I see that they have an outlet store in Rutland, England, which I think is quite close to where Melissa is, I wonder if she goes there. I have never bought from them, but thanks to you I see I can get 25% off for signing up to their mailing list.
Question/request below. - *Love* your content. REALLY appreciate that you read all the comments & respond when necessary. I’ll add my hat to the ring… Keep using the Brit lingo. It’s endearing & hopefully broadens some world views. We tend to get culture-centric. Question/request - Would you please discuss how to decide on the most flattering shorts length for different bodies? I’m just not sure how short length fits w recreating the hourglass shape. Thanks!!
Thank you and welcome to the comments section!! Yes, absolutely I’ll talk about shorts length. As soon as the weather changes here and shorts are available to buy (and therefore I can show them). Generally speaking though always go shorter than you think as the more of the leg on show (within reason for age, event etc.) the better the leg will look. I really don’t like my legs but they look better in shorter shorts than knee length ones. Also, if your legs are shapely then make sure they’re not tight as it’ll make your legs look chunky!
It would be a very short video - stay away from patterns if you want longevity in your wardrobe expect for stripes that suit everyone as long as the neckline is right for your shape!!
Hi from Canada. I love your videos! My Dad was from the UK so I am used to your word choices for clothing. Thanks for putting out such great content. It's very helpful and informative with putting together a wardrobe. I am wondering what I should do with my leather jacket. Its not current in style. Should I just hang onto it hoping it will come back in style? I'm glad I learned on here to not go too expensive with a trench since the styles change.
If it has sentimental value then hold on to it but if not then no, I wouldn’t as even when they come back round again there’s always subtle changes which make them ‘not quite right’.
Another great video. I have a request though, I often look at on line sites and I am increasingly finding that the models are being placed into odd shapes and wearing strange shoes, also some of the models are extremely thin and the clothes actually don't fit them (the clothes are too big). Anyway the point is using your basic principle of getting the hour glass figure how do you see beyond the photos to decide which clothes are right when ordering on-line?
I would add that usually I don’t like the pieces shown online until Melissa and other people show them 😂… I’m not sure if they really want to sell clothes…
It’s not easy to be honest! I think that’s where my experience of styles, fabrics and women’s bodies come together. At the basic level I look at the length of the garment on the model and I assess that against the height of my client. Then, if I can see the item is pulling anywhere on a slim model then that’s a red flag for anyone who is bigger. I look at shoulder seam placement. Seams on the shoulder are more flattering than raglan shoulders on women with curves and big boobs. Then it’s just gut feel after that I’m afraid! Hope that helps in someway!
Hi Melissa- I ran across your channel while starting to research capsule wardrobes and it has been so helpful! I have been loosely following the capsule wardrobe for a several months and loved it during the Spring. Where I live we have been having a very hot summer. Due to the weather, I find I often have to wash a top almost every time I wear it and I am not layering pieces which makes it harder to create different looks. I have bought multiple staples like white t shirts, etc. Do you have any other tips for making a capsule work during really warm weather?
I tend to focus on more singular items like easy to wear dresses for hotter climates or co-ordinated sets which when paired with a white top make multiple different outfits. X
I do love your videos so much! Learning that jumpers and trainers are sweaters and sneakers is bonus content lol. I do have a question regarding the white T's in your video. Which T in the links is the heavier material? I prefer a heavier weight and can't tell by the links. Also, you could probably do a video just dedicated to the classic T! It is so hard to find quality, nice fitting classic T shirts that layer well and don't lose shape at the neck line. Thank you for all that you do!

Loving that gray jumper on you! I need to get in the habit of wearing a tee underneath sweaters more often, it really adds such depth and contrast to an outfit. Thanks as always for taking us along! 🥰
Yes it does, I agree, always a white one too (or maybe a white stripe) but never any other colour! X
Your videos are extremely helpful and enjoyable to watch! Thank you for sharing with us!
Glad you like them!
Really enjoy your videos and appreciate the amount of effort and information you include in each of them. Your attention to the details…collar, sleeves, fabric individuals body shape and style to consider before purchasing is very helpful!
Glad you like them!
Hello Melissa from America. love your channel love all the great information on how to dress so much better. I enjoy all of your English terms you stay true to your nationality I love it
Thank you so much!

Dear Melissa you are so inspiring having lost my way fashion wise at 67 sorry 57 I will be following your ideas for spring 😊
Thank you, glad to have you along for the journey!
I've had a pair of Chanel ballet flats in the colors you have for a few years. They are totally not my style, but when I wear them with a matching Gabrielle bag I feel like a princess!
So helpful as always xx
Glad you think so!
Great video and great styling tips for an EVERYday woman! Also very thankful you showed grey (and not beige which is v difficult for someone 60+ and grey hair) as a neutral. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Wonderful to hear, thank you x
Great show, Love the linen bomber ❤
I saw an older masterclass video you did for someone with a figure very similar to mine. I love my style but still have insecurities. You not only said it was ok but said it was best tucked in on my shape which I always do. You don’t know what that means getting that reassurance! Thank you SO much! ❤
You’re very welcome x
Love your posts, great fashion. ❤❤
Thank you so much!
Loved this video - thank you so much for showing us the best way to wear the Spring garments. 😘
Thank you so much!
Great Spring haul video with great ideas and variety . Thank you Melissa and the team for all your efforts to put all this together 🙌🙌
You are so welcome!

Yet another great informative video 😊
Thanks again for helping me make the right decisions. 👍
Happy to help!
If your budget can stretch to it have a look at the ones from Varley - they’re super comfy and stylish at the same time x
@@mmpersonalstyling gosh thank you for taking the time to reply, I’ll start saving! 😍
She has some good ones! (from another flat bottomed natural apple shape).
Hello and welcome! I’ve done loads of Apple shaped styling as part of my body shape masterclasses where I dress women of all different shapes and sizes live on the channel so have a look at any of those x
Excellent video. Great outfits. Watching you is like being with a good friend trying things on and enjoying myself. 🌺🌺🌺
Love that!
Great video! Love hearing your British words! 💖🚀💫✨💖
Yay, thank you!
In the M&S coat try on what jeans are you wearing please x

Thank you for providing such valuable content that has significantly aided me in revamping my wardrobe. This particular video has prompted me to reconsider my choice of shoes. As someone with very pale skin, I've realized that a stark white hue may not complement me as well. Do you think substituting white kitten heels and loafers with an off-white cream color would be a suitable alternative?
Absolutely 👍
Amazing video!! 👏🏻
Thank you!! 😁
Welcome!! Thank you for following us and really hope you enjoy the content x
Love your channel & all your styling tips! Would love for you to expand on work wear for a hot climate if you can work it in!
I’ll add it to the request list x
Melissa, just be you and don't change how you present or speak! I'm American and have no trouble "interpreting" your word choices! Your information is invaluable to me as I'm near your age and have always struggled with how to style myself. I'm switching from a career in which I could wear t-shirts, jeans and trainers every day to working in an office (real estate). I really need your help! Videos specifically about styling with shoes would be appreciated, as would videos about how to balance the hips for strawberry shaped women. Thank you so much for all your actionable advice!

Thanks😄. I really enjoyed this one especially. I just wish I could buy these clothes in Australia 😢
Thank excellent video. All the styles are great
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Melissa, Im bigger busted and find a halter neck or cutaway neck can work well. The problem can be finding a comfortable strapless or convertible bra to wear underneath though.
Thanks for sharing, thats great to know. Try Bravissimo for a good strapless bra for larger busts, they can even fit you online these days!
@@mmpersonalstyling yes, I do love Bravissimo!
In love with the greys and you looked very pretty ❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Thanks for all your styling and buying tips regarding trends and classics in this video
You are so welcome!🤗
Thank you so much, all good sound advice ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Melissa. I’m always looking for a very long trench coat. They always feel a it frumpy to me when mid calf on me. They are hard to find, M&s often don’t do long in these but will check them out. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Yay! I clicked on this video so fast. 😀
Me, too😆
Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching x
Brilliant video, as always 🎉.
I'm learning so much from you. Thank you so much 😊
Not sure if more women would have the same issue, but after breastfeeding two lovely boys, I struggled to find a bra that looks good on me 😢.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
A great thank you for the whole team🎉
We’re filming with a lovely new mum in a few weeks time so we’ll address that then but finding the time to go and get yourself ready-fitted is the best place to start. X
I've just deleted my message as it read too sycophantic but I've learnt such a lot from your videos and I really appreciate what you're doing - thank you 😊
You are so welcome
That crochet skirt is gorgeous!
Thanks so much really loved your vlog ❤
Great video!
Suggestions ... bras esp for bigger busts....cami tops with support ..nice cami tops to wear under wrap around dresses etc lily silk idea but more affordable and also wrap around dresses if possible. I'm big busted and short so last master class was v helpful. keep up the super work team x
Bras - bravissimo, supportive cami tops. M&S.
@meghanthomaston-kornegay8702 great tip! I'll try that, thanks x
@@mmpersonalstyling everyone needs a friend, lol x
Please could you add a variety of ivory (not cream) T shirt recommendations to your list. It's easy to find cool white but some people don't suit cool white and it is harder to find good ivory T shirts.
I agree. Just finding nice T shirts is a challenge let alone ivory. @mmpersonalstyling you could probably do a whole video just on classic T shirts lol.
Love this Melissa - lots of good advice and also confirmation that I’m on the right track x
This comment is partially selfish because I’d love a weekly video, but I’m wondering if you DID make a weekly video your followers would increase faster. I think you are at a nice pace, but I love a good experiment;). You and your team are the absolute BEST!!!!!!! I’m trying to talk my husband into a trip to London, so I can set up a day with you😆
That's a great idea!!!
Happy Easter 🐥🐥🐥
You too 🐣
Hi Melissa.i have real problems with shoes. Diana
We could always help you source shoes if that’s of interest. Details are on our website at www.mmpersonalstyling.co.uk
I saw some great tan coloured low cork wedge sandals in Dune. Also, New Balance 327 trainers I'm told are really comfortable for painful/ problem feet x
@@debrawright9195 do you mean the Linnie’s tan sandals? They are not cork - couldn’t see any cork ones on the website that had a low heel.
I think those ballet pumps that have a 1" heel and one or two straps look pretty for summer if you can't wear sandals.
@@physioontheriver7325 I saw them in store in England, but Linnie's are very similar. x
Yes we do but I don’t the brand very well, I’ll look into them .
I love all you content, thank you for another great upload ❤x
Really good advice as always ❤
Glad you think so, thanks for your support x
Hi Melissa, what about a video on patterns and which ones will suit different body types?
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you

Hi Melissa. Loved the video - can you please share a link to the grey woollen vest. Thank you.

Stunning video! Thx Melissa. Can I ask for a “colour” video? Not sure what colours suit me 😢
We have a colour course coming out!
such great content from beginning to end. thank you Melissa!
You're so welcome!
It seems like our spring time in GA. Isn't as cool, winter to summer weather is what we usually gets ,but nice ideas for cooler places.
It’s the one labelled ‘100% Supima Cotton Crew Neck Short Sleeved T-Shirt
GBP 14.90’.
