I loved this video, it’s helping me so much. Having lost over three stone at age 75 ! I find myself adrift. I’ve never had to buy a new wardrobe at one go before and your videos have been a life saver.
Hey Melissa. This would have to be one of my favourite videos that you've made! I love your style, personality and joy that you bring to fashion and share with us. Thank you!
Editing to add, it's 104 degrees Fahrenheit here today, and I am a bit envious of your jackets and blazers! Since watching you, I've made a list that I keep in my purse. I pretty much always shop thrift stores (charity shops, I believe is the same?) but Im much more focused on high quality items to fill gaps in my wardrobe. Here in the US we have consignment stores, I am sure you have thoses as well, kind of like Vinted, but in person? I found a neutral Michael Kors bag yesterday for $10 and Chanel sunglasses for $25! I was very excited, all inspired by you, so I wanted to share. Great video, as always, especially the tip that skin tan can be a friend to brown and nail polish can be a friend to colors in your outfit! I learn so much every time I watch and truly appreciate you and your team more than words can express! ❤
Consignment stores are slightly different to charity shops (UK) since they specialise in designer/ brand names &, if I remember correctly, they're owned privately instead of the profits going to a charity? Charity shops are more like a smaller version of Goodwill lol.
"Everyone needs a friend" I actually started saying that to myself while picking the OOTD and my sense of style has improved substancially while also spending less time in front of my wardrobe wondering what to wear I think we need MM merchandising with that quote!
this is such a good video! I struggle with shoes and really value comfort over style so it's interesting to see how the different shoes work with the same outfit. Your tip about the rounded Birks looking better with shorter pants is a great!
Happy Sunday, Melissa. I sooooo appreciate your videos ~ each one of them brings fantastic tips. Even when it's something you've mentioned before, sometimes we ( I ) just hear it over and over until it sinks in. Thanks to you, I've slowly been rebuilding my wardrobe with your tips. The brilliant thing is that when I want to wear a particular top or pant, that I can easily mix/match it up with a few things because I've streamlined my colors down to white / tan / blue (navy and denim) / and olive green. They all compliment each other. It's nice to receive compliments on my outfits. YAY!!!! Thank you so very much.
Great variety of looks! I absolutely love to thrift, and you hit the nail on the head. I buy everything with a purpose, but can then feel paralyzed with so many options!
Oh Melissa, that gorgeous white Phase Eight dress ! You absolutely could not wear that to a prom or wedding because YOU would outshine everyone there including a bride ! It is stunning though ❤
So helpful! It’s amazing seeing all the different pieces mixed and matched for a real life. Totally relate to being prepared for cool and hot weather in the same day.
There was DEFINITELY “ a little bit of everything “! And it was excellent, loved this format ! It’s always easiest to learn in a relaxed environment and this video delivered. I was entertained and I’m also now much better informed and prepared for my next shopping trip ❤.
I love the blue off the shoulder h & m dress but here in the states, if I wore that to a BBQ I’d be so out of place. yesterday I wore cropped jeans, a blouse, belt and sandals to go to church and my husband said, “why are you so dressed up?”
Your videos are always full of great tips on how to make ourselves look better. In this particular one, I highly appreciate your communication style: decontracted, honest, real, down to earth .... feels like a friend is sharing her new acquisitions after a shopping spree. Thank you so much!! 💖
Dear Melissa, thank you for this great video, like many many orher of yours! Really enjoy it. I appreciate that you show really good outfits, very practical advices how to wear what and with what, and explaining in a sipmele way basic rules what to do to look better. I'm watching from Warsaw, Poland. Thank you! 😊
Loved this style of video Melissa, it’s so helpful! I have a different body shape to you but I’m just 5’2” so seeing you wear the clothes gives me more confidence that that could work for me too ❤
Hi thank u so much for all your amazing videos u are so beautiful u look lovely in everything u r so lucky to have such brilliant style u always make sense in what u r telling us thanks for all your help have a good week take care 😊
Great outfits and tips, something for everyone. The only thing I didn't like was the blue and white patterned shirt dress at the end for all the reasons you mentioned pattern can look frumpy and dated so easily!
That Phase Eight white blouse fits so elegantly & has a beautiful back detail.. I should know because I bought it last month too, with a discount which was nice😊
Brilliant video. You definitely hit the nail on the head regarding charity shop shopping. I agree that making a list of items needed will save buying unnecessary items. I often shop in charity shops because I have a small budget for clothes but realise I have wasted money over the years as all those cheap purchases add up and I often still feel like I have nothing to wear that I really love. I’d have been better buying less clothing including some new items but with more of an emphasis on quality that’ll last. I’m learning slowly! Thanks for all your great advice. I love all your videos. 😊
Hi Melissa, thank you again for such a fantastic video. I loved all of your looks 😍. I recently wore a blue and white dress in a new way, i added a blue belt that matches the dress perfectly, simple white leather sandals a little bit of jewellery. A french friend of ours popped into our house to pick up something and commented on how much he liked my outfit 😊. I had not thought to add a belt until I watched your videos, i need to just find the time to watch more of them 😂😂😂. Those one shoulder dresses are amazing and you look amazing in them❤
Great video Melissa 🤩 love the fact that there was a bit of everything in this video, it makes it quite versatile with great options 🙌 really enjoyed it , many thanks ☺️
Love a good jumpsuit myself. I have a lovely one by sweaty Betty, very flattering and I always get loads of nice comments even from strangers when I wear it 😃
Like others who commented -- your videos are so engaging and educational. Thank you for being a trusted fashion advisor to so many of us. Oddly, I'm one of the few women who has broad (boney) shoulders that are slightly wider than my hips when measured. Although this is an uncommon body type or feature, it would be great to see a video, or portion of a video, on how to style broad shoulders, because every feature can have challenges (lol).
@@mmpersonalstyling Hello back. Thank you so much for the invitation, but I live far away (Seattle, WA), plus I'm rather old. While age should not make a difference, it might not show up so well on camera (lol). However, I absolutely love your channel and message. Our weather is so much like England.
Such clear and classy advice with explanations for how to adapt the outfits seamlessly. Btw, thank you for introducing Monica Vinader's excellent products; I made my first order and it was here in 5 days & I live in the middle of nowhere in west central Canada! Impressive.
I agree with you re jumpsuits when sitting on the loo!I do exactly the same also with my trousers and pants. I hold them on my lap not hanging around my ankles😂😂
Love your videos and I follow a few UK fashion RUclipsrs. Unfortunately I live in South Carolina where it is already 35C all this week, so while I love dressing your style - not possible til ending October at this point. Will still watch! I get headaches from the sun and heat - would be happier in the UK weather. 😊
Wow Melissa, that was action packed and full of great content😊sooo interesting to hear you talk about thrifting. Everything you said was true..I have been thrifting for years and my wardrobe is bulging…I’m learning thanks to you to invest in more expensive key pieces….hard on a budget…but can be done….although it would have been great to see what you managed to find in the thrift stores…now there is a challenge for you and the team….is it possible to buy key items while thrifting 😊❤
Really nice video with so many great looks. I hope you daughters prom goes well, I wonder which dress you will wear, you had some beautiful dresses to choose from. I remember my daughters so well. They grow up so fast.
So many beautiful outfits ! I really loved the glam look ( mother of the bride/groom) with the fish tail look & fluted sleeves. You looked like a film star of the early 1930's ( a la Carole Lombard) in it! Wonderful to see Monty again, he seemed quite excited for his walk ;)
Hi Melissa OMG what a wonderful long video with so many great styles. I have learned even more today. I love that everything was thrown in. Some of the prices are unbelievably reasonable. I love the v neck white ruffled top, but not sure if I would wear a large or a medium. I have lost twenty two pounds and for some reason I don’t see the weight lost like friends and family do. I am a d but hope to be a c cup again. I can wear either medium tops if good brands or large if less expensive. I can wear a ten in pants in better stores. I do thrift since we are paying off what insurance did not cover on my husband’s knee replacements. I have learned not to bring home everything. The last estate sale I found a one hundred percent cotton v neck poet’s white blouse, a long sleeve white linen with silk shirt, and a white denim cropped jacket, cropped denim jeans and a tank ..all high end items and looking new for twelve dollars and fifty cents for all. I have gotten rid of five bags of clothes thanks to you I now know what suits me. As always Melissa, I just think you are a wonder…so amazing, and such a good teacher of style, and so beautiful. It is extremely hot here..almost one hundred degrees 😮. Thank you Melissa. Of course ,I wish all your videos this long..but oh the work that must go into them. I truly appreciate your time and expertise. ❤❤❤❤❤
Fabulous video, you really do wear clothes so well Melissa. Unfortunately once I've allowed for my extra 5 inches of height most things wouldn't look as nice on me 😔 and anything that is made on the longer side is always out of stock and never comes back in. Would you be able to do a summer office appropriate video, I'm always looking for nice lightweight tops that aren't strappy or cropped or too low for the office! Looking forward to the next video x
Loved this video, thanks for sharing an insight into your life! You mentioned your daughter's prom; I have a 14 year-old-daughter and find it hard to find fashion that is appropriate for her age. The choices seem to be band t-shirts, sports wear or H&M which can be a bit hit and miss, we find. Adult shops have the right sizes (my daughter is 5'8) but the styles are too grown up, and the age range stuff is too baby-ish. It would be amazing to get your advice on dressing for this age group. Just a thought for a future video :) Thanks again for all the tips!
Morning Melissa. Great video as usual! You look beautiful! I was just wondering if you have any plans to produce a video/ edit for holiday evening wear?
As I sit wearing a gingham midi dress I’m trying to decide should I wear my Birkenstocks while straps or nude pointed sling back flat sandals? 🤔 lovely video TY
I love your channel and your style. Would it be possible to number the outfits to your links that you give? Sometimes it’s hard to find and match up the links to what you’re actually wearing. Also, sometimes can’t find a link for the item and I’m not sure if this is because it’s sold out? Thanks, Melissa, for doing a wonderful job and explaining why you style people the way you do. Very helpful 😊
We can't number them i'm afraid as it's an external platform we use and there's no way for us to do this. We have started using LTK a lot more which shows me in the exact item and then links the individual pieces underneath. You can get to our LTK shop with this link: www.shopltk.com/explore/Melissa_Murrell_PersonalStyling As for the missing links - three reasons 1): they've sold out or 2): they are only available in store and not online and 3): they're available in the UK but not in the US. Hope that helps.
Hi Melissa. My friends all love your videos. Can I ask what bust size you are as I’m a 32a and I struggle to create shape when wearing dresses or tops. I think you are a 32b so I was wondering if you had any advice that you could give me. Keep making these brilliant videos😘
It’s linked on the board for you. It’s called the goddess coin and it’s in the accessories section www.moonsift.com/collection/mm_personal_styling2022/VUqZRSDKPVIcqub0WRXN
Another great video. Thank you so much. I love the hoodie can you please tell me what size you bought please as I’m a similar size to you. Currently it’s out of stock in most sizes but I’m hoping it will come back in stock. Thank you.
@@mmpersonalstylingMany thanks for telling me about Vivaia. I find their styling not quite ‘me’ though. I have clicked through all the pointed flat links on the board and afraid that I can’t see any that are wide fit. Sorry to be a pain, but would be grateful of more help! ❤
I think they look great when you've got long legs and terrible if you're shorter and wider (as they make you look even more shorter and wider). I always go for the pointed versions, then anybody shape can wear them.
Thanks, Melissa. I loved so many of the outfits, and you looked great in them! ~I totally agree about all the fabric in that white, belted, dress not being so good on a pear shaped woman, which I am. I couldn't wear it because I wouldn't want to remove the straps due to also needing to cover my arms! It's tricky when there are a few issues to deal with. ~With the patterned dress that has the end of the zip causing the fabric to stick out on the hip.. I'm just wondering if the area is classed as being the hip all the way from the top of the hip bone to the leg break area, please? (I hope that makes sense..) ~Do you have any videos on patterned clothes at all? I would find that Phase 8, block patterned dress a bit much for me personally.. and I just wondered why I should feel like that about it.. Thanks again, Melissa. So much awesome information in this video.
That area you mention covers the hip and the thigh area and we use the terms interchangeably as we focus on which ever one is largest in order to equal them out with the hips. I wouldn’t want to guess where your thoughts around the other dress come from without a personal consultation I’m afraid.
Thank you Melissa, Can you please tell me what is the size of the Beatle tee shirt you were wearing, as it is oversized but I don’t want it to be too big. Also the size of your beige hooded cardigan? Thank you for another great video!!!

You can get to our LTK shop with this link: www.shopltk.com/explore/Melissa_Murrell_PersonalStyling
As for the missing links - three reasons 1): they've sold out or 2): they are only available in store and not online and 3): they're available in the UK but not in the US.
Hope that helps.
Love your videos helped me so much I can't really wear the sling back shoes as I can't keep them on.What would my alternative be thanks
a mule x
Very clever video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
I really liked this insider video. It was fun to see all of your everyday styles for yourself. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Melissa. My friends all love your videos. Can I ask what bust size you are as I’m a 32a and I struggle to create shape when wearing dresses or tops. I think you are a 32b so I was wondering if you had any advice that you could give me. Keep making these brilliant videos😘
I wear a 34C x
Great ideas! I love the cropped trench-would you wear that indoors as well as you would a blazer?
Absolutely!!
Hi Melissa ... loved this video and all the outfits . Can you please send the links for all the necklaces you wore in the video .
Thank you.
I was wearing a size large. They have plenty in store if that helps x
Thank you so much.
Great video, Melissa! Please could you recommend any neutral colour non-frumpy pointed flats for wider, arthritic feet? 😊
Vivaia shoes or there’s some on the board (see the links in the description box). X
@@mmpersonalstylingMany thanks for telling me about Vivaia. I find their styling not quite ‘me’ though. I have clicked through all the pointed flat links on the board and afraid that I can’t see any that are wide fit. Sorry to be a pain, but would be grateful of more help! ❤
Sounds like Melbourne Australia 4 seasons in one day ❤
I feel the same here in NZ!
And isn’t it freezing right now…very British weather…even further up the east coast!😂
At least it’s not just here in uk!!!
What do you think of Mary Jane’s style flats? Are they timeless and do you think there is a way not to style them.
I think they look great when you've got long legs and terrible if you're shorter and wider (as they make you look even more shorter and wider). I always go for the pointed versions, then anybody shape can wear them.
Thank you so much for your response
Great video ! ❤️
Thank you!!
(I hope that makes sense..)
~Do you have any videos on patterned clothes at all? I would find that Phase 8, block patterned dress a bit much for me personally.. and I just wondered why I should feel like that about it..
Thanks again, Melissa. So much awesome information in this video.
That area you mention covers the hip and the thigh area and we use the terms interchangeably as we focus on which ever one is largest in order to equal them out with the hips.
I wouldn’t want to guess where your thoughts around the other dress come from without a personal consultation I’m afraid.
@@mmpersonalstyling Thank you, Melissa. 😊
Love this vidro
Thank you Melissa, Can you please tell me what is the size of the Beatle tee shirt you were wearing, as it is oversized but I don’t want it to be too big. Also the size of your beige hooded cardigan? Thank you for another great video!!!
Size small in the t shirt and large in the hoodie
I would love to see more Monty!
He's always there lurking in the background!!!
