I was so moved by what she said about forgiveness. I came to the same exact conclusion about my abuser.
People sometimes think forgiveness for us means we are forgiving what they’ve done. Forgiveness for us means we get to move on, and can stop letting their actions loom over our lives. We can finally wipe our hands of them.
She is so strong. I’ve been following this for a while and I wish nothing for the best for Shari. I work with children taken by DCF and it’s known in my organization by all my coworkers how useless DCF can be. Someone says “DCF did this” and we all roll our eyes, and have to clean up after their negligence and carelessness.

I mean, I get what you're saying. But the court system in many states does not take fathers' concerns seriously; case in point: Eli Hart in Minnesota. Eli's dad tried to get custody multiple times, and the courts denied him, even with ample evidence that the mother was dangerous. It ended with Eli being murdered, and his mother in prison for life, and the county paying the father a settlement.
Kevin Franke may or may not have tried. This news story doesn't really get into that.

Well, I can tell you that I used to watch her channel. It was called '8 Passenger.' As a bachelor, only child with no kids who's family is all dead now, I actually used to envy them. They were rich, had friends, seemed to have a nice loving family, etc. All the things I do NOT have.
However, being in my 50's at the time, I WAS picking up on things that seemed strange to me. Her way of parenting for one. The kinds of punishments she would hand out for another. I actually didn't know if it was real or fake just for the channel to gain viewers. I now know it's all true. I also knew they were Mormons so I attributed a lot of it to just nutty religious beliefs because her way of parenting DID incorporate a lot of Mormon beliefs into it. As a Catholic, I don't believe in Mormonism because what they believe, namely a 14 year old farm boy in upstate New York finding golden plates where God basically said everyone got it wrong and THIS is how one is supposed to live and that Jesus Christ actually set foot in Jackson County Missouri and he was to not show the plates to anyone makes no sense at all. During Christ's time, the only people here were the American Indians. Plus, even Moses was told by God to show the people the 10 Commandments. So why would God tell some teenager to keep the plates a secret?

    • @kymorgan9775

I used to watch their channel as a teenager, I remember a video of theirs addressing where their oldest son Chad went since he hasn’t been in videos. They sent him to a wilderness boot camp for his behavior, as a teenager myself I thought that was strange because what could he have done so bad to get sent away? Later one they posted about how they took away Chad’s bed for telling their youngest son that they were going to DisneyWorld when they weren’t. I stopped watching after that, the channel became very dark and the kids always looked scared to be on camera and in front of Ruby.

The father may well have been an abuse survivor at the same time he was 100% enabling the abuse. He was a coward who gave in to everything. And this is what happens when the LDS church takes zero responsibility for the abuse that happens in their midst.

Completely agree. I feel that in these cases media outlets (and the unsuspecting public in general) really latches onto success stories. It’s a lot of unfair pressure on the victims to “move their lives forward” and “be the bigger person”. For some of us, those things just aren’t possible to do for a long time or even at all. Abusers aren’t entitled to forgiveness in the first place. It’s so twisted that that’s a responsibility which is societally pushed onto a victim on top of all the other mistreatment and loss of freedom they’ve had to endure.

Why do people interviewing victims of abuse insist on asking if they forgive their abusers? *Why should they?*
I'm a survivor of adult domestic abuse, perpetrated by a romantic partner. My day-to-day life involves finding ways to push aside memories of the abuse and live a decent, happy life despite the effect it has had on me. I absolutely do not forgive my abuser, who knew what he was doing and made a _choice_ to do so every time he hurt me. Victims have to find a way to move forward despite the lasting effects of abuse - and those effects are lasting enough that they'll probably be with them for their entire lifetime. It's an insult to what survivors have suffered to ask them to forgive their abusers, and I don't think anyone who properly understood and empathised with their experience would do so.

So don't talk to me about abuse or what God wants. Seems to me He's not holding up His end of the bargain and just letting children get raped. If God can't forgive because a victim's anus tore and needed reconstructive surgery, that's a miserable, crappy God.
Should ALL of those child rapists be forgiven?
      I didn't think so.
Also, you haven't been abused, so you have no business telling abuse survivors how they need to behave.

@@tatis6109 "We have to forgive that's God's commandments." And you will jump all over an abuse survivor for not behaving the way they're supposed to without saying a word about the abuser. Why do Christian churches aid and abet child molesting priests again? Oh, that's right, because forgiveness is on the victim, not the abuser. The first thing out of your mouth was how a victim needs to behave without any mention of churches looking the other way when children are abused, or what the abuser is supposed to do to repent. God will forgive child molesters who forgive their victims but NOT the victim of the abuse if they don't forgive their abuser, am I hearing that right?
Risk child rape to hear the gospel or go to Hell. Christianity hasn't gotten any saner since the Salem Witch Trials. God gives children cancer, but He specifically needs abuse victims to forgive or He won't forgive you, guys!

She had such a superiority complex over Kevin and the kids, he does not deserve to be prosecuted. Didn't take her long to follow in her mother's footsteps. Something is really wrong with this family.

Exactly! I don't think the apple fell far from Ruby to Shari. She used to go right along and treat her siblings just like their mother did at times. Never liked her, Chad, or their parents. The youngest four are victims.

Heartbreaking damage to the children, sanctioned by Mormon Church (author, in Polygamy’s Shadow)

Are you saying the LDS church actually teaches it's members to engage in sexual, emotional, psychological, and physical abuse with family and children?? Are you nuts?? If that is what you are saying, then please provide references for such teachings. (They don't exist)

As someone who used to watched them when I was younger (now in my 20s) the abuse was SO obvious but because Ruby was targeting towards children it was seen as 'okay' even though everyone who did watch them at a younger age like I did, knew what was happening and have been waiting for them all to get justice! I remember loving the channel so much, I still remember all their names and have many videos still stuck in my mind from how sad, even as a child like me, knew their situations were (one I remember was the classic sad case of when Chad got his BED AND DOOR taken from him.❤‍🩹)
