Mexico City to Athens through Madrid ( T4s arrival ) and I will have a 55’ layover to change from T4S to T4 ( daparture to Greece ) do you consider enough time ( 55’ ) to pass through the one to terminal to another ????!!! Thank in advance

@@lampros1983 Hi Lampros. In a non-pandemic time, and with everything running on time, you should have enough time. But bear in mind there have been times where we had to stand 40 minutes at the immigration queue at T4S... never mind the fact than COVID checks can slow things down greatly. We would not buy that short connection, but our tolerance to risk is very low. All the best!

I see folks here talking about collecting their bags, but I assume my bags would be checked all the way to my final destination in Bordeaux, no? @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal It was a mess with the airlines as my original flight to Bordeaux was cancelled. My reservation is with Finnair, however I am flying American from PHL to BOS, then Iberia from BOS to MAD, then Iberia from MAD to BOD. Everything is on one reservation so I expect my bags will be checked from PHL through to BOD. So once I get to Madrid T4, I'll have to find my way to the gate for my flight to BOD. I hope that's not an ordeal. I'm debating whether to walk from T4S to T4 or take the shuttle. I'm thinking the shuttle may get me there faster, but that saved time may evaporate since I would then have to go through security again. I am so stressed out about this. And we leave Friday😞

Thanks forth is video, especially for a tourist who may not be aware that anyone going from T4S to T4 need to clear customs/immigration at T4S before going to T4. Sounds like 2 hrs may not be enough time for a USA Passport holder to get from one Iberia flight at T4S, to a BCN bound Iberia flight at T4, especially if he/she has baggage to collect first.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

thanks, Muek. If you fly both legs with Iberia, your baggage should go through to Barcelona, but double check this at the check-in counter. In normal times, 2 hours would be just about enough time, but with the added uncertainty of delays due to Covid checks at the airport, we would allow for slightly more time. All the best!

    - This is an underground automated train that connects T4 and T4S.

Louis, as far as we know, there is only a express line for those passengers flying business. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure enough time for a succesful connection. 1 hour is an extremely risky business, even more so at a time when queues at Madrid airport can be incrdibly slow. Our advice would be, change the second flight if possible.

My parents (Spaniards) will be traveling with Iberia from Barcelona to Los Angeles, with a layover in Madrid. And, a month later, they´ll travel in the opposite direction to return home. The layover for the outbound flight is 1h 20min, arriving at T4 and departing to Los Angeles from T4S. For the return layover, they will arrive at 4S and take their connecting flight to Barcelona from T4. There are 2 layover options: 2 hours or 3.5 hours. I wonder if 2 hours would be enough in this case. Please, let me know if the layover times sound reasonable both ways and if you would recommend the longer layover time for their return flight. Thanks!

Hola Susana. We would never purchase a connection of 1h 20min at Barajas, as it involves a certain degree of risk - but that's us. The good side to that specific connection T4>T4S is that there is no immigration control on arrival, so things tend to be faster. As for the way back, if there are no delays, 2 hours should be enough, but we haven't gone through Barajas in pandemic times and don't know what impact the COVID controls have on the required time to complete the connection.

Thanks for very informative video. I have question. I am flying from Vienna to Madrid T4 (Iberia) and then I have to move to T4S for my flight to Havana (Iberia). I will go through security check in Vienna. But should I go thourgh any security check also on T4 or T4S? I hope there is only passport control, but not the security control. Thank you very much!

Hi Marka, we've never done a T4>T4S connection at Madrid airport, but these days security checks are quite common everywhere. Arriving from Vienna you won't go through any immigration control, but we can't tell for sure whether there will be a security check.

Hi, the Tourist Ticket includes the airport supplement. You can see all the details about the pass on this video: ruclips.net/video/HJHUDy7pb_A/видео.html Be aware that the pass now is only valid for calendar days and not for 24 hour periods.
