In my country we call those ”trollfläta” or ”trollflätor” (for plural). They’re said to be made by gnomes and are a sign of protection, gratitude and care. They are magic braids❤️
@@alifewithhorses-meryllynn I haven't seen horse back riding in almost twenty years since I got MS and cancer and a stroke heart problems but god bless you if you can ride horses
Those twists have always been called fairy knots to me. It's an old legend that when those knots appear it's because a fairy has held onto the horses main to find its way home.
Hi! Yes I have also been told they are fairy knots and that the fairies twist the mane to make stirrups to ride the horse! Very similar story! Thanks for watching and sharing! 🐴💜
She’s my first and only horse so yes I pretty much devote most my free time to riding, training and caring for her! She’s a Straight Egyptian Arabian! Thanks so much! 😊💜🐴
lol fairy knots! I ride a mare that gets them so much and so bad I've resorted to keeping her mane in braids, though i do know the potential risks of them. Shes a lot of work for someone who learned to ride a shortmaned / rattailed appaloosa!
Those knots are also known to be used by groups of people that go around marking which horses to steal. So please keep an eye out. It happens alot in England
Baby oil would probably work well! I bounce back and forth between Cowboy Magic Detangler & Shine,Equifuse Silk, and Biomane Detangler. After I wash I heavily condition. 😊🐴💜

@@janew7008 Yes! It is said that fairies ride the horses overnight and twist the mane to make stirrups for their little fairy feet! 😂💜🐴

I’m in Dressage training and most of the Dressage warm bloods have their manes cut short but not the Arabians! Lol!!
Braids is a good option too. 😊🐴

Really? I’ve never heard of this! I’m pretty sure she’s safe here. She’s in a small private barn, but thanks for the heads up! 😊🐴
We used to use baby oil on tangles. Not sure what else they use these days

Put a lot of main and tail conditioner on it and work it out with your fingers and the end prong of a comb at the edges, very carefully. Pretty mare.
This is exactly how I groom her mane and tail! Thanks so much for sharing! 😊🐴
sometimes bonding with grooming is better than riding on a hot day
I agree 100%! Thanks for watching! 😊🐴
@@alifewithhorses-meryllynn no. thank you for sharing 🩷 I'd do anything to be able to ride again

She tolerates baths! Not a huge fan of it for some reason, even in this heat! 😂😂

“Pippa” is your name too? It’s a lovely name! 😊🐴
I’ve always heard those terrible knots are made by children on their way to heaven 😢
