- The SE Santana Singlecut Trem pays tribute to Santana’s one-off gold leaf Private Stock PRS. Modeled after the workhorse gold leaf guitar that Carlos plays on stage, the SE version of this special instrument began when Santana heard the 2018 Paul’s Guitar TCI pickups. Impressed with their tone, Santana requested a set of those pickups without the coil taps, and from there, TCI “S” pickups were born. Wanting to capture their full-range tone in a special model, Santana and Paul looked to Santana’s personal instruments and choose the gold leaf Singlecut.
Additional features include the classic Santana/PRS combination of a 24.5” scale length, 24 frets, and a tremolo bridge, the SE Santana Singlecut Trem, providing two full octaves with the comfort of a shorter-scale guitar.
“When I think of PRS I think of impeccable integrity! Right out of the case, the guitar looks and feels incredible, but for me, it is about the sound, resonance, vibration that allows me to take flight with every note. The SE Santana Singlecut Trem has a range and universal tone that delivers with power and clarity, allowing you to find your own voice in your heart’s music. It is an honor to add this beautiful guitar to the PRS SE line that I helped start so many years ago. We invite you to spread your wings and find your voice with this beautiful instrument!” said Carlos Santana.

Never get tired of hearing the intro jam, I’ve heard it about 30 times!!
Same! And I own this guitar! Lol
Same!
@@womaninwood9177 I am a beginner 4 months in to be exact. And as a beginner I’d say yes. It’s really easy to learn how it works. I knew the sound I wanted plus wanted something that’ll rock a little too. I love this guitar
@@womaninwood9177 it’s also my first guitar. I’m definitely keeping it

That is my guitar. I already owned Gibson Les Paul, Fender Tele, even the PRS SE hollowbody, I sold all the others and I still have the Santana.
The arm is really smooth, it's wonderful.
Guitars & Gears I only used the tremolo a couple of times and I didn’t get any problem. Maybe there is another guy who uses the tremolo as part of his playing who can help answer that question.

how can it be good? let's talk seriously
@@phenixreturns What do you mean by being serious? I don't have nothing to do with PRS or any other brand. I tell you what I feel.
Brian always does a great job of describing and demoing PRS guitars. And PRS guitars are hard to resist. I have the Custom 24 and love it.
What’s the difference between customs 24 and this guitar?
Boy PRS, you people ain't gonna be happy until you drain my bank account.

Picked one up used in mint condition from GCSF. Great guitar.
Sounds like Carlos. If only I could make it sound that good. 😂😂
My sentiments as well I play the notes but not the music!
That’s the point Carlos himself has made for decades - find your own unique tone.
It has nothing to do with the guitar you play or even the amp you use.
Give Carlos a $95 guitar with a missing string and he will still sound like Carlos.
I am not advocating musicians play sub standard instruments just to make life difficult.
The right instrument will eventually find you as you trek along your musical journey.....”
I have heard many great musicians in interviews say that what they want most in an instrument when playing on stage was reliability and consistency.
In the recording studio musicians will often experiment with various instruments and equipment in order to get the sound or feeling they want. Post production also plays a role.
When you think of a guitarist like Jimmy Page you often link him to the classic Gibson guitar he plays on stage.
Early on in the Yarbirds Page would regularly use a Telecaster.
Jimmy Page used a 1959 Telecaster for the solo on Stairway to Heaven (a Tele given to Page by Jeff Beck)

Who says you can’t? Don’t be so hard on yourself! Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
I saw Santana at House of Blue this past January and he was indeed playing the gold leaf single cut PRS for the majority of the show. Fantastic show by the way. Nice to see another Santana signature PRS model. Beautifully done!
A Santana signature without the Santana headstock Really stupid
Goodness gracious, that is a beautiful guitar.
Just bought one....can't wait till it's delivered
Oh that tone is spot on, such a good looking guitar aswell!
Bryan we will forgive you for closing your eye and channelling your inner Santana LOL great playing and another great PRS guitar.
It’s this simple for me: PRS SE + Bryan + Sonzera 20 = *SOLD*. I love Bryan’s demos and I’m loving the SE line more and more. (Well and there’s no way you can’t just LOVE that Sonzera).
Looks and sounds fantastic!! Great playing as well!!
Must be nice to have a “workhorse” guitar covered in gold leaf. 😅 Love it!
Fantastic Looking Guitar, very desirable - would love to own one.
That guitar literally looks like a real gold, awesome guitar
Don’t like too much the look, but, let’s talk about the SOUND!...just Wow!
there are tons sounds better with PRS :) for 4000e euros
I bought one of these as soon as they became available. Terrific guitar!
PLEASE do a SE McCarty 594!!
They offer se 245 only. What a shame.
I have a SE 245 in cherry sunburst I know PRS are big on quality but mine is so unbelievable I perfect that I actually went over it with a magnifying glass to find even a spec of dust. I am not kidding I actually did it. found Zero wrong. Add to that the veneer top is a perfect matched top. So watching this single cut demo had my heart pumping!
Sounds great, excellent playing and demo. Guitar looks beautiful.
Brian Ewald really tasty playing ...DUDE!!!
This is a reasonably pleasant looking instrument.
Looks great / sounds great - a very nice addition to the SE lineup. :-)
The SE line is probably the best guitars you can get under $1000. That being said, I reaaaally miss my SE Custom 24. Hope to get an SE with 22 frets soon - I can't get along with 24
I can't get alog with 24 frets as well... it just kills the so desired classic neck sound...
What is it about 24 ??
@@davethefed 24 fret guitars have the neck pickup closer to the middle position compared to 22 or 21 fret models. That turns the 24 fret neck sound less fat and round, with more treble and less body.
I love my Custom 24. I really regret selling my Santana SE. I want another one as well as a Paul’s guitar. They have definitely nailed the quality and sound in the SE line. I could listen to Paul talk all day. He is very gifted in his musical knowledge and instrument building. 🤠🎸🤘
@@shawnreed9016 I have a Santana SE (22 fret, 2011 model) and it's the best guitar I've ever had and played
Just bought this puppy for a steal, cant wait! 🎸
Sounds fantastic. Probably the best I've heard a Sonzera sound on the dirty channel
Sounds amazing
It's looks and sounds great!!!
Amazing bridge dirty sound!
With some of the SE models the details and video demo were available practically at the same time but this SE Santana Singlecut Trem has been listed on the site the at the exact same time the SE Hollowbodies, the Holcomb SVN, the SE Mira and SE Starla and seemed to have "fallen through the cracks" and remained sort of "forgotten" until now
Great playing man! sweet guitar.
It's a great guitar ..I have one ...best guitar for less then a grand..great craftsmanship and how it's put together and very nice tone..Its a winner!!
Uhhh! I love that guitar!❤️
Great job all the way around! Love the guitar, love that amp!
I’ve gotta get a Sonzera 20, those amps sound killer on these demos.
That's awesome. I surely wouldn't mind having one if I were to have a PRS. It sounds amazing and love the finish and look.
DGT SE is what I'm waiting for
Sounds like indian music. Very melodious. Thnk yu
It sounds and looks amazing!
Delightful Brian!
Glorious guitar!
Core / S2 24fret SC please 😔 great sound demo. we need a nice rounded version up in s2 or Core ! :D cant wait for the Herman sig too
This guitar looks nice.
Beautiful
Please make a hard tail version of this with wrap around tailpiece like the SE Paul's!! 🙏
I'll take two. They're small. :) In truth, I'll need to save some pennies for this. It's beautiful, and sweetly toneful.
I bought one, it had a 25% discount and for the money I think it's a good guitar to have in the collection.
The fretboard is much lighter on mine than in this review which is a shame because the darker the better IMO against the gold body.
It doesn't stay in tune particularly well which is a shame. I have guitars that hang on the wall for days, sometimes weeks and I'll grab one and discover it's still perfect, this isn't one of those. I've fitted the PRS SE locking tuners and that has helped a little but certainly not rectified the issue. I must add that it goes out of tune even without use of the tremolo.
There's good tonal variation between the three positions, but I wouldn't say these are particularly focused pickups and they do boom a little. The coil split feature found on the SE Paul's Guitar would have been welcome here too IMO. But, what you really miss is dual volume and tone controls like you would normally find on a single cut dual humbucker guitar and that's a real shame because it greatly reduces your ability to shape the tone of the guitar.
I rarely use a shoulder strap playing a guitar while sitting, but I do with this model. It doesn't suffer from headstock dive, it's the opposite, the headstock wants to lift up. Maybe that's why Brian had his thump over the neck most of the time during this review.
The short scale with frets 24 frets, well that's certainly an interesting feature and I like it. This is a comfortable and easy fretboard to navigate. Unfortunately my slotted straight edge with a Fender 25.5" side and a Gibson 24.75/PRS 25" side is no good for this model. The slots don't line up with the frets so that's a tool I can't use to check neck relief on this model.
Played through my Blackstar HT5 head and PRS Mark Tremonti 1 X 12 cabinet I'm yet to find a tone I love. However, I've been really enjoying late night sessions using this model and my Boss Waza Air headphones. I stayed up last night well after midnight really enjoying some open chord arpeggios. It came to life and sounded great on the clean settings with a little delay and reverb.
Is it everything I hoped it would be? No, but it's an interesting model, very different from everything else I have and definitely a keeper.
Me recomendarías como primera guitarra profesional ?
@@jijijija1091 Sí, es una buena primera guitarra. La longitud de la escala de 24,5" facilita el estiramiento de los acordes. La guitarra es cómoda y bien equilibrada.
Perfect shape guitar.. 👍
Oh so cool guitar !!!!
It this had a pttern thin neck, it would be the ultimate guitar for me.
Lol the opinions on the appearance of this guitar is so split. I personally love it. I get how it looks like mustard yellow but I do think it eventually grows on you.
Is it possible to bring Silver Sky on the SE line? 😁
Silver Sky sells like hotcakes so I don't see them doing that anytime soon. Also, if you'd take anything away from it, then it wouldn't be what Mayer and PRS envisioned it to be. But who knows.
@@TheEchelon doesn't have to be a john mayer signature model specifically. just a strat-like prs :D
It’s cheap already tho
@@MaddoxMelton ok, thank you elon
Great playing is that Carlos?? 😁
Like to get the name lamp
And setting I like that sound and if any pedals use
Thanks I own one I love it’s buying my second one that how much I like it,
OK, so I sometimes watch videos that are narration of lecture style sped up, because I still can understand them talking when sped up to 1.5 times speed...so when I clicked on this, it was still at 1.5 times speed, so I was all, "whoah, he's playing with a Santana flair, but fast", and then after about 10 seconds in, I figured it out, hahaha!
Nice Purdie shuffle.
I like it but I would be more interested if it had 22 frets and coil splits.
Just now doing a review on this! Didn't this come out like last year!
We need a S2 Santana.
Another singlecut that has trem and 24 fret = SE Mikael Åkerfeldt
But 25" scale and sadly no longer in production:(
Things are hard as hell to find in the used market too. I'm constantly looking for them on Reverb.
Would be nice if we could get some hollow body basses.. In the SE range, S2 and maybe even up to the Core range. Also I think reissuing the JA-15 sounds good too
I like the clean tones. The middle position has a slight quack to it. I wonder if it's because the pickups are closer to each other. I hate double humbuckers where the middle setting sounds so generic.
This guitar is great! I bought one and really like the pickups in all positions.
Same here. My first PRS, and I am completely impressed with all aspects.
Can't split a prs, deal breaker for me. Prs sound amazing split! Should be standard on everything!!
Don't know why, but that gold really does look Egyptian
24 fret, 24.5” scale. Wow. Perfect for non-spider-legs-for-fingers players like me. ;)
I like it!
PRS needs to make a DGT SE too
Sounding Great. Splitting option would of been cool.
PRS has way too many similar models ... can’t keep track (which is sort of a turnoff - that and Paul selling us on why each new model is the “best ever”) but I do love my McCarty 594. Next purchase is an SE Hollowbody Piezo (never thought I would want an SE).
What about useing the trem
I'm still waiting for the PRS SE DGT
Chuck Cleaver you’ll be waiting a long time, they never capture that DGT without the core pickups. It’s a screamer, with taste.
I don’t like it but, hey, that’s why they make variety. Saving up for 24-08
Do you have to readjust the springs in the back when drastically changing tuning?
Any chance you could send one to me and I'll promote it like crazy!?!
That’s one sexy guitar
I'm buying this Guitar. Please guide me does this sounds better or PRS Santana standard(double cut) sounds better ?
Nice body, but those head stocks? Notice Santana's headstock's are different, probably cause he doesn't like those pointy style ones, I don't either.
How about a SE Custom 24 Hardtail like what Tim Mahoney uses?
To someone who has or tried this guitar, does the tone have clarity? I have a double cut Santana SE from the earlier generation (22 fret) and no matter what pickups I've tried, and EQ settings, the guitar is muddy with no bite. Just wondering if this is any different?
If you covered those pickups, you'd have a deal 🤷🏻♂️
the bridge pickups sounds like a neck pickup lol
Is there anywhere that he talks about what rig he is using other than the PRS??
Hello sir. Is it true that PRS SE is not PAUL REED SMITH? Please me.

@Aslin Fire Safety that would make sense. Coypright issues!
