    Many Japanese have never tried sand baths and there are no people who upload these nice edited video to introduce Ibusuki . We just know Japanese spots in TV shows. You guys are so great. :)

    • @applekid02
      @applekid02 5 лет назад +1

      You've got it quite wrong here. There are a lot of Japanese who had experienced sand bathing and adore it out there. Oita prefecture has been famous down the ages as one of the hot spring spots for the people and touristy in Japan. Just you didn't know about it until TV show introduced you doesn't mean many Japanese don't know. Don't put yourself under the impression so quickly that everyone can be as unknowledgeable as you.

    OMG...I did the exact same thing 2 years ago in April!! Brings back so many happy memories! I was on a 2 week dream trip to Japan & went to Kyushu (mainly to see Takachiho Gorge) but after I found out about sunamushi onsen I thought it was just so funny & silly I had to do it..definitely an "only in Japan" experience! I love it when they put the little umbrella over your head. Hahaha. I didn't think it was too hot either & I wished I could've stayed in longer (I think I did 15 min.). I went to the exact same bath @ Saraku & I went to Nishi-Oyama afterwards too!! (Although I took a taxi) I mailed postcards from the little yellow mailbox back to the U.S.:) So fun!!! I loved the fact that there were barely any tourists on Kyushu...it's like a precious little secret. Hopefully I can go back one day :)

    I really miss Kagoshima and Ibusuki. A real magical place. First time I ever spent Christmas in a foreign country was in Kagoshima. Felt so alien to soak alone in a rotenburo on smoking sakurajima while I knew everyone back home was celebrating Christmas. On my second trip to Kagoshima we got to join a dance squad in the Ohara Matsuri parade. It was such an experience. I suck hard at dancing, but when everyone is foreign and you're high on gajin-power that doesn't matter:-) I vaguely remember being interviewed by a TV-crew. Never knew what became of that. Think there was some free sake involved for the dancers. Haha, those were crazy days, before I succumbed to the pressures of society, got a wife and a job, and my life went spectacularly to shits. Total Armageddon. Still picking up the pieces, hoping to one day return to my own life. Wow, that took a hard turn left:-) TIP: If you're out there living your dream. Just do it. Keep going. No matter what people say. Don't stop!

    The sand baths are one of my favorite places I've ever visited that's not blasted with tourists. It was a shame that I couldn't use the baths at the time (pregnant). Technically, they didn't have warnings up that you couldn't use them, but I applied the same warning they usually give with hot tubs. It felt nice on my legs though for what that's worth.

    Hi Sharla! I was there in the late 80s! I was a little girl at that time and my dad thought it would be cool for me to try it out. I literally lasted for less than a minute in there. It was so hot that it burned my butt! lol. My dad was like "well, that was worth it" (sarcastically of course). So glad you made this video! Natsukashii!

    Wow, I'm so lucky to see here my old city Kagoshima. I found the video by incidentally. Ibuski, Nagasakibana, Kaimondate....You've enjoyed there so I'm a great feeling. Thank you.
