- Tuning Breakdown
left to right:
1st string is the sixth degree of a major scale below the tonic
2nd string is the tonic note
3rd-7th strings go up the major scale following the tonic ending on the sixth degree of the scale an octave higher than the 1st string
*This is the tuning pattern used in most all of the Wild Sparrow tutorials
In this video I'm tuned to B major: G#, B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#
Some example of similar tunings in other keys:
A, C, D, E, F, G, A
B, D, E, F#, G, A, B
E, G, A, B, C, D, E
Consider the instrument maker's suggested tuning before adjusting.

Do I have a 7-String Lyre ? No. I'll watch the tutorial anyway.
I unpacked my lyre from kindergarden and am so happy I found your videos :D misty mountains and dragonborn were the two songs I wanted to play. Thank you so much
Very nice!
This is so cool!! I just got a lyre today and so excited to learn
awesome! more 7 string lyre songs pls :)
Another awesome video this helped alot!!! If you decided to do more lord of the rings themed song the concerning hobbit is a good song.
Sweet! :)
bravo! and a costume as well :) is that nylon or fluorocarbon strings? which of the two materials do you find holds a note better?
Nylon. Not sure, I’ll have to play around with fluorocarbon some to find out
@@wildsparrowstrings Michael j King ( If you build Lyres, you should know who that luthier is by name ) recommends Fluorocarbon over nylon for sound and quality. I use Fluoro on my Lyres and the difference in sound is noticeable and much less re-tuning then reg nylon strings.
@@Gnomewoodworker alright sure
@@wildsparrowstrings I definitely respect your craftsmanship. I was looking for more of your opinion on the subject?
That is a gorgeous beard.
Haha thanks. I believe it’s made by Beard Head if you wanted to look into them
I need someone to make me a beard like that so i can do an epic cinematic video with it and make it super serious and incredible (maybe a lotr/hobbit tribute) and also it'll be a tood laugh at how serious i am cause im female haha🤣
