It looks like axial had a bit of time picking thru losi's parts bins. Larger axle shafts along with that bearing holders, fake brakes, open diffs all around and those shocks look alot like the Baja rey shocks.
The manual for the kit version shows the stages required to install the lockers in place of open diff and the parts required for the two speed tranny. I presume that means the parts are included. The kit was listed yesterday on the Horizon site at $369.99 but they pulled the link later and replaced with the RTR details. The wheelbase specs are all over the place at 317.5mm (RTR), 387mm (kit specs) and now your measured 393mm.
I Like that you are Very Thorough in your breakdown of each component on each vehicle you show! Very interesting , informative and helpful! Thank you very much!
That is bad ass. I did not think you would have the new truck after last night's live show with Matt. That thing is awesome.. I love the bomber. But I like this maybe a little more... Axles are awesome. I like the hood/battery spot. Very awesome detail.
FYI... On full size axles when you say it a 14 bolt, it is referring to the # of bolt in the ring gear. The cover usually has the same # but not always.
Thank you for so much info !! Love it. I think you should do a follow up comparison with the Bomber. Its a machine most of us have seen and driven plus there seem to be a lot of dimensional similarities. Thanks !
We got to hit some hills with ours and it's killer! I think the end all for performance on this bad boy is a little shorter shocks and this thing KILLS hills right out of the box.
Everything climbs better with locked diffs....real bouncers have locked diff for a reason. Just wonder why Axial would go "open" on everything? Possibly to detour breakage?
I hate to be the negative guy but you could probably put a set of those cut tires on a bomber and be better off as far as performance goes...but that cage is very cool!
I want this, I want this now.. There is a new subdivision road being built in the field behind me. They are currently digging the trenches for the sewers.. There are litteral huge mounds of dirt not 300 feet away from me at this very second that are just begging to be bounced up..
OMG, I am so excited for this vehicle! I love my Bomber, but this looks awesome! I am in love with the tires and want a set for my Bomber, currently on 2.2 MudSlinger XL's. Thank you for all the info and details that you have provided to us. I am looking forward to the detailed component as well as running videos!
Love it! Been waiting for a bouncer & ordered one (orange 😜) today. Hopefully they'll offer a rear steer axle assly. Like the tires, but not that they're glued on. I could really use a 6 channel receiver & with some luck that means they'll bring out a 6 channel Smart Tx.
Josh. I initially wasn't very impressed by this new offering from Axial; but, you have now increased my interest. Will watch for your follow-up videos on this rig. Please assess any torque twist that this vehicle may have after you test drive.
The Ar14 B name was a nice touch but most of trucks I’ve seen with 14bolt front axles have the pumpkin on the other side, or it’s center but still nice touch, can’t wait to get my hands on one of these
Looks like there ready for rear steering with the 6 channel receiver as well as telemetry and its begging you to get the current 5 channel radio or maybe a future 6 channel radio
5/16" of an in wrench will work for 8mm size nuts, they're the same size. So plenty of standard nut drivers in that 5/16". jik someone needs this info...thanks for the great video, they're truly appreciated
You should totally do a video showing how you "phase" the u-joints in the driveline if you haven't done a video like that already... I have never done that on my slow trucks, but as I think about my next build, and my daughter's Bomber, the faster ones definitely need it, and it wouldn't hurt to do to all our trucks really... Besides a couple misses, like a few weak points where a vehicle meant for this kind of driving could've been beefed up a tad more.... such as rod ends , axle housings, trailing arms(just things I have seen mentions of people breaking)... and the brushless system being sensorless... what are your thoughts on this...? Initially I wasn't at all a fan, have 5 Axial trucks in our house, including a Bomber... and I think beyond the slight bit of speed that some trail/crawling involves, like a Bomber, Gatekeeper, or just normal scale trucks, the next step is full on basher level or the "rock racing" ... do you think this rig would make a good rock racer? I guess I just don't quite get this rig and its use...or why make this given the other rigs that already exist... Anyhow, not one for me, but I'm sure it will be a good fit for some who want to mix crawling/trailing with bashing... Cheers
I actually really like the turnbuckle style links and wish the other crawler companies would adopt similar, but perhaps with an external hex section for adjustment instead of the through-hole.
Well. I have to say I really like the new axles but agree that the rear should have been centered. I'm sure we will see an aftermarket centered option in the near future. Can't wait to get my hands on one get it lowered down a bit and give'er a rip.
They did that so when your bashing up the hill and come down hard and shock load the wheel that’s in the air when it hits the ground and snaps the weakest link
Look up king of the mountain rc bouncer, it's a series here in nh that is at a full size bouncer hill, my buddy ran the series last year I am going to try to run it this year, I'm sure the guys will put this to the test and kill a few of them, guys are running full metal everything this may not hold up in competition but I'm sure the guys will find out!
That is from people taking a wraith skid with bomber links on full cuztum metal cage, in the back to set up a sway bar this chassis is missing that, so might not work well, also it's too tall needs to be lower, you want it be able to jump straight up and it may go over backwards being that tall
That was long, I'm scratching my head on some of the design concepts but am interested what time tells us. I personally don't like how rock bouncers look but it would be fun to drive.
I like the cages on these they are almost organic, but listening to you this time had me wondering would you have bought one, every aspect you were down on was what makes these what they are the fuel cell big enough to climb one maybe two hill's, lower the buggy it s that tall because of the nature of the sport and because they are so open not easy to hide even a plug. The new tech that they are using is they are making less types of receiver so you get 6 channels that would be useful for other model's I use this receiver plus another that has a longer aerial for the guys who will be fitting them or have got a Felony, or another ARRMA road biased vehicle that will have insane motors and ESC's and the new tech batteries that I am slowly going over to as my other LIPOs pass their best performance and I have the UDR and a clone of the LOSI SBR so will be putting SMART ESC's receiver's and batteries. I wasn’t “down” on some of the things you mentioned. I was surprised they put a neither RX then needed in for cost reason. The height being lower would have made it MORE realistic the full size. They do not sit nearly this high in reality. The fuel cell is somewhat accurate but not entirely in its mounting especially.
Hell ya!!! I’m definitely getting one, I always wanted a rock bouncer “well one of the metal cage custom ones” but this will work, awesome!!!! I guess I will stop building my wraith & sell it to fund this lol, maybe I like my wraith.
Hopefully a kit version comes out. I'd rather put in a hobbywing axe system and a HH shv500v3 servo. Not going to pay £500 when I'm going to swap half of it. Looks like it will make good high power crawler with some super heavy weight diff oil
Like I said about the Bomber 2.0.... When they release a KIT version, I'll buy it. I've been a fan of Rock Bouncing for years! This was a nice SURPRISE. I actually like the tunable Oil Diffs. MAY lock the middle, but 500,000wt in the Rear and 100,000wt in the Front. "Life 2.0" begins very soon!! Still thinking of a name change for my Channel. I'm not going to be POOR anymore! 😁 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Wow this is the rig I've been chasing for since I started wanting a Lasernut. Was looking at a Bomber and a Capra and Pulled the trigger on a Capra 2 weeks ago. In for a penny in for a pound, but I might have to put off my Electronics and Grab A RYFT.
Decided to Wait on the RYFT, at least until I finish my planned build out of the Capra. XR10 Combo and Reefs 444 on the way. Haven't purchased parts for rear steer, considering the Reefs 299 in back for Clearance Issues, waiting to trim tail of cage until I can do a test fit with Servo mounted. Reefs 99 for Dig is on back order everywhere, thanks winch heads.
I have bought almost every Axial kit (not RTR) that they have made all the way back to the very first AX10, and I somehow get a meh feeling on this one. It is a really nice looking truck and it's likely I will buy the kit version if they make one, but I'm not getting excited at all on this one, and that is disappointing to me.
I already said it once, but, those tires are the business, I must haves them. Y'all have a badass day 🤘 Edit: I also wanna build a trail rig with those axles and drivetrain. My old k10 had a full floating 14 bolt axle on it 🤘
Some thing else came to me just design and 3d print a big ass engine and supercharger and while at it 3D print a set of those crazy exhaust headers with little or no mufflers as far as the faux caliper and rotors I would think by now GPM or another company have already begun the process of producing a set of alloy caliper and rotor kits, or remove and do as some have with mil spec axles with the one caliper and rotor on the diff pumpkin itself front and rear, the rear fuel cell just needs some tubing coming from the cell and just cable tie and lose them along the chassis, I noticed you could mount the rear lower shocks onto the axle itself then fit a swaybar where the shocks were mounted that alone will lower the rear end or just mount the lower swaybar links to the axle and on the rear of the cage behind the fuel cell small but just right as they are not doing laps.
The calipers are issues because rocks get wedged between the wheel and the caliper. Also, here is a handful of periods you can use for your next post, this one was hard to read without stopping jk jk😁 ...................
Josh measures ground clearance: three and a half hands.
It looks like axial had a bit of time picking thru losi's parts bins. Larger axle shafts along with that bearing holders, fake brakes, open diffs all around and those shocks look alot like the Baja rey shocks.
Is your hobby mat even big enough for this rig to measure lol
Lol, must be because counting fingers is too complicated lol. Thanks for the great videos you guys put out. Always allot of fun.
This replaced the lasernut on my list of 2021 rigs to buy
DITTO!!
Same
Same !
As someone with a Rock Rey , your concern about the brake discs are 100% valid. Remove them if you plan to run in gravel.
Can't wait till they're available!!
Pre order

6 channels could easily get filled up
1 - Steering
2 - Throttle
3 - Shifter
4 - Winch
5 - Lighting
6 - Rear steer or Dig?
Get rid of the winch cause its a bouncer. Have the lights power on when you turn it on. There ha go
You had that right there the whole time and pretended to be surprised. Well done Josh
I literally bought a bomber to turn into a rock bouncer. I’ll have to get one and compare the 2 when I am done with my build.
I agree you should have got the orange one ,looks like axial nailed this one
I Like that you are Very Thorough in your breakdown of each component on each vehicle you show!
Very interesting , informative and helpful!
Thank you very much!
I'll wait for the kit version
For sure!, I just can’t buy a RTR🤷♂️
if those are sealed diffs, you should look to the 8th scale racers in your area for info on how to utilize diff fluids to maximize performance.
Yes that’s why I mentioned they are sealed and tuneable. I mentioned they felt light to say that they could use heavier oil to slow the action.
Wicked, finally a new RC that I don't need to buy.
Okay, I'm sold. Waiting for a kit, though.
Thank you for so much info !! Love it. I think you should do a follow up comparison with the Bomber. Its a machine most of us have seen and driven plus there seem to be a lot of dimensional similarities. Thanks !
14 bolts are called 14 bolts because they have 14 bolts on the ring gear, not the cover.
I would say your wrong on that
@@dennisanstadt1039 but he's not wrong. The ring gear on the 1:1 does in fact use 14 bolts as well as the cover.
It's called the rock dragger in my book. Shaved.
It’s pretty cool axial is kinda going after a bash market. The open diffs will save these axles and driveshafts a lot.
What a let down you have to buy the lockers as optional parts.
I feel a bouncer should be fully locked...
It's for better control
I'm thinking they included the 6CH receiver to show off the Spektrum telemetry.
I hate to be the negative guy but you could probably put a set of those cut tires on a bomber and be better off as far as performance goes...but that cage is very cool!
Looks pretty sweet, I can't wait to check it out! I wonder how long until we see the RBX24.
Love it. Need it. Missing a high powered rig in my collection.
Cut Boggers and 14bolts! nice. Open diffs though... lockers should come in the box with it.
I want this, I want this now.. There is a new subdivision road being built in the field behind me. They are currently digging the trenches for the sewers.. There are litteral huge mounds of dirt not 300 feet away from me at this very second that are just begging to be bounced up..
I’m really excited for these axles. I have a love/hate relationship with ar60s
I haven't been this excited for an Axial release in a long time. Wow this is going to be great in Utah terrain.
They sent you the black one to see if you'd notice, lol, looks like a good platform for future builds
Love it! Been waiting for a bouncer & ordered one (orange 😜) today. Hopefully they'll offer a rear steer axle assly. Like the tires, but not that they're glued on. I could really use a 6 channel receiver & with some luck that means they'll bring out a 6 channel Smart Tx.

I kind of guessed it yesterday. It definitely looks awesome with that cage design. Can't wait to see what's it got on the rocks!
First I’m going to do is install 400mm shocks and jumbo kongs. Then flex it on my washing machine.
Doesn't Axial know they are to send you the Orange one?
Naw it's funnier that he didn't get the orange.... 😂 Diss the thicc buoy
The Ar14 B name was a nice touch but most of trucks I’ve seen with 14bolt front axles have the pumpkin on the other side, or it’s center but still nice touch, can’t wait to get my hands on one of these

I sure wish it came in a kit! I have a bomber and love it, but I like kits. Awesome looking rig!
Cool! They totally should have sent you the orange one. Axial should know you better by now. Maybe it is not in production yet.
We have the orange one!
Fuel cell looks proper to me and other bouncing enthusiasts
I wonder if this and the redcat "mandingo" will get some other manufacturers involved and rock racing going again
Well. I have to say I really like the new axles but agree that the rear should have been centered. I'm sure we will see an aftermarket centered option in the near future. Can't wait to get my hands on one get it lowered down a bit and give'er a rip.
Good review. I agree, l think l would lock the differentials, maybe add some light buckets with led lights up front.
Time for some Flecks Friday post. Looks pretty sweet other than the long shocks and open diffs.
Dude I'm waiting on Australia to receive these I have a per order. MASSIVE THANKS for your video
Can't wait for the kit version been waiting for something new in the 2.2
I like it Josh, looks bad ass. Can't wait to see some running video.
Can also drill and tap they diff cover to load the bearings... doubt it will do anything but you could for sorca points I guess
it is going to look great beside my Bomber, but i might wait for the kit.
Great overview! Looking forward to seeing how this thing performs 🤙
Great review def looking forwards to driv video soon
Open diffs!? Damn that ain't right. At least give a spool option in the box.
They did that so when your bashing up the hill and come down hard and shock load the wheel that’s in the air when it hits the ground and snaps the weakest link

Two of those open channels are used for AVC.

What would you install?
That was long, I'm scratching my head on some of the design concepts but am interested what time tells us. I personally don't like how rock bouncers look but it would be fun to drive.
I have a preference for scale trucks. I have a Wraith that I don't drive much, but I am tempted by this one.
They missed the mark launching it with rear steer as an option.
A lot of bouncers run rear steer
Any word on when The Kit will Drop ?
Would love to see this exact thing, but in scx24 size next 👍
You can get bouncer chassis for the scx24 online though as well
@@kevinjones3191 oh yeah I know, but I was talking scx24 size, but open diffs and big power lol.
@@Rokstardad82 you can get a brushless system for the scx24 as well

No way.....
Never expect this video...

Can you get spools for those axles to lock them? Because just looking at this build, I happen to believe that it would make for a stellar crawler.
