Hey Elysse! I started using the premium version of Busuu two weeks ago (for German). All of my exercises have gotten corrections so far. Still, you are right. It does take longer to get corrections because it seems less native German speakers are using the app in comparison to Spanish, English, or Brazilian Portuguese native speakers. Something I found helpful is using the social tab to find exercises done by German natives who are learning Spanish or English. I correct those and add them as friends. Once you have them as friends, you have the option of choosing up to five people on your list to correct your exercise. They have been correcting mine when I send the request, or they return the favor once I've corrected them. It's working so I just keep adding new native German speakers to my friend list lmao 😂

I have been using Busuu to learn German for around a month or so now, German is the first language I'm learning and Busuu is one of the primary things I'm using. I'm currently aiming for the A1 test but have already noticed a few things that bug me about this app, One of them being the league and leaderboard system, I'm jumping between my phone and computer at the moment and I'm not so focused on completing with other users to get into a better leaderboard. But, the mobile app is based on a point system where as the website is based on a timed daily goal which I much prefer! to add annoyance, anything I do on the website (which is the same lessons as the app) doesn't count towards my goal on the App! You can also cheat the goal on the app. By re-doing lessons you get given 15 points for each part completed instead of 5, this isn't something I want to do as I'm only going over lessons in which I feel I'm not 100% on. Another thing that bugs me is that once you get a question wrong twice, it's gone, it doesn't force you to get the answer correct and I often just forget what I did wrong because the app is already forcing me to move on. So I discovered Busuu and bought the premium version, and I think it´s reeeeally worth it. I´ve been doing it for about 8 months now and I am currently going to unit B1. I mean, I consider myself an A1 person in speaking, but I can already understand A2/B1 senteses by reading, and that is really an evolution for me, because as an 14 years old brazilian girl I didn´t even know how to say hello in german when I started 😂 In conlusion, I really like Busuu and it is definitely helping me to build a base for my german, and now that I know how the app works, I think the "weakest" parts of it are the grammar and the speaking, so these are the topics that you have to study by other means also to consolidate better. I love Busuu! I use the website, not the phone app. I use it for Spanish. It is definitely geared for European (Spain) spanish instead of Latin American.
I used busuu around 8-10 years ago. It was when they didnt have many languages and every language was a little tree that gets bigger when you studying. And everything was free back then. I stopped when you had to pay cuz i was young and didnt had any money
Which is your native language and how many language do you know or are you learning? I'm italian and I already know english and french at a good level, and I've been learning german since 1 year
Busuu just dont want to work with me The app crashes after some minutes os use And the site wont load Its pretty strange I tried two times with a month of difference
Do you have a video about learning German for beginners? I'm just starting out, and it would be nice to hear about your experience with learning German. By the way, are you an American?
@@AmesWickKittySniper01 well...i am more curious as to why people like to learn it when theres so much talk that german is supposed to be a loud and aggressive language 🤣
@@vintagenovember :3 My interest was sparked when I read a book called "When the Germans came" , it's about the channel island occupation. The book had some German in it besides funny stories, they had a strange relationship with the islanders and the English living there. I cannot say why anyone else would? lol Well it does sound aggressive if it's put on🤣 Someone said the German word for foot and the way he was saying it sounded so angry
I used it for a while and there were two main issues with it: 1) I'd submit a paragraph or two for an answer and never got a single comment or rating even after several months, my account was verified with a picture, I corrected maybe 400 english submissions, it's not like I wasn't active; maybe it's because I was a beginner but still considering I was paying and it's their biggest selling point, was a let down. 2) The work plan doesn't do a great job of picking up where you leave off; if you don't use it for a week it still assumes you remembered everything like it was yesterday. That and when new courses are added your overall percentage decreased, I was at 45% of the way to complete their A1 ranking and one day it dropped to 28% it was super demotivating and I ultimately cancelled my subscription. I really wanted to like their app but it was just too rigid for me, I switched to using anki which has been serving me well ever since
Maybe you were writing too much? I used to use HelloTalk, which had a community corrections feature, and I remember it being hard to get good corrections for posts longer than a couple sentences
Schon am Anfang gibt es in der App ein Fehler, oder? Sollte "sich am Dienstag treffen" sein, würde ich sagen. Das Wort "am" fehlt. Aber vielleicht geht beides, kann jemand hier mir das bitte erklären?
So, I am clueless about how to study German. Right now, I am at beginner duolingo and I am 1% at finishing Busuu. I am studying German at school and I am A1. Can anyone help me find a way to go about studying ? (preferably free or cheap). Any help would be greatly appreciated! ( My native language(s) are English and Greek)
Hey Elysse - nice work on the video! I also think they are great for French, German, Italian, Spanish and maybe a few others... However when my review of them (which was glowing) started getting lots of views, a lot of people commented that Japanese, Russian, Chinese and Arabic were not so good. I used Arabic for about 3 days and I agree... it teaches a strange mix of MSA and then a kind of made up Arabic that isn't even MSA, plus they assume you know the alphabet already. For Japanese and Russian I had literally dozens of comments saying that it was not good, and not really a single positive one. So yeah basically I had made the mistake of expanding my experience from French out to all 12 languages, and it seems like it's only the case for the "Big Euro 4", and maybe a few others like Turkish and Polish... but unfortunately not for all of them.
Hey Lamont, thanks! :D That's disappointing to hear, eurocentrism is a repeat offender in a lot of language courses/apps and I wish it would change :/ the resources to do it are definitely there. I plan on getting into Turkish next year so maybe I'll have a chance to see what it's like out of those confines.

C3 KKKK desde uma perspetiva estrangeira sim, e Take On Me deveria ser em todos os vídeos meus
11:06 Good try! Please also avoid Nestlé, folks.
Busuu seemed great from the free part of the course :)
Totally judging you for your number of tabs, even more so after you defended yourself, hahahaha, love the video!
heyyyy let me live HAHAHA thank you for watching!!
I love Busuu! I use the website, not the phone app. I use it for Spanish. It is definitely geared for European (Spain) spanish instead of Latin American.
Hace cuántos años/meses lo usas?
Ah wow I didn’t know that about the spanish, but it makes sense. I think i prefer desktop as well!
@@hallihallo3016 4 meses. It’s not the only thing I use.
Waiting ❤️
I've been using this app for some months and it was helping me a lot to start to learn english. I am brazilian, more brazilians here??

I used busuu around 8-10 years ago. It was when they didnt have many languages and every language was a little tree that gets bigger when you studying.
And everything was free back then. I stopped when you had to pay cuz i was young and didnt had any money
that's a really cute idea, i remember it! oh man ;(
Guys actually you can make a group tab and color them
Hi, Elysse, my talented pretty friend. for nearly 6 months i've been learning German language. you're the best, multilingual. with a kiss.

Its pretty strange
I tried two times with a month of difference

hey elysse, a question- not to do with busuu, but quizlet- is quizlet pro worth it, if you use the paid version?
I don't use the paid version of Quizlet, so I can't speak on its premium features :( i'm sorry!
Hey I’m also learning German, do you know where I could get any books for it/ any book suggestions? Apps just aren’t doing it for me anymore.
Just watching a regular RUclips video and then boom is that Harry Potter?
man what HAHA
Do you have a video about learning German for beginners? I'm just starting out, and it would be nice to hear about your experience with learning German. By the way, are you an American?
If you ever need somebody to talk German to, I'm German...
Hi, I think learning German is not that difficult as I know it's very easy😊
I really relate to you
I dont know why i searched for german videos...i am german...i dont need to learn it 😂but whatever, life in 2020 😂
felt that
@@elyssedavega but ...your german is pretty good. 👍🏻
Maybe you wanted to see how foreigners learn your mother tongue or watch our struggle LOL!
Not too bad hehe! Great video!
I just wanted to point out that at 0:52 you made the sign for ‘dating’ in ASL lollll
I subconsciously sign stuff all the time it's weird to me

I loved this videoo🥰🥰 and i think my next language is gonna be german
I just started and I'm loving it!
12:15 You're welcome.
love it since 2014
I used it for a while and there were two main issues with it:
1) I'd submit a paragraph or two for an answer and never got a single comment or rating even after several months, my account was verified with a picture, I corrected maybe 400 english submissions, it's not like I wasn't active; maybe it's because I was a beginner but still considering I was paying and it's their biggest selling point, was a let down.
I used to use HelloTalk, which had a community corrections feature, and I remember it being hard to get good corrections for posts longer than a couple sentences
i would love to help you with german / correct your texts haha, im currently learning spanish by myself and just discovered busuu as well :)
Damn i am a german native my self. Your pronounciations is extremly good

Hi elysse! Any idea of the German certificate we earn from Busuu is honoured esp in Embassy or finding a job in Germany?
For how long have you been studying German so far?
I started when I was 15 in high school but I only started taking my studies seriously in the past year!
Schon am Anfang gibt es in der App ein Fehler, oder? Sollte "sich am Dienstag treffen" sein, würde ich sagen. Das Wort "am" fehlt. Aber vielleicht geht beides, kann jemand hier mir das bitte erklären?
I would just like to say that you are so swaggy, Elysse
That's disappointing to hear, eurocentrism is a repeat offender in a lot of language courses/apps and I wish it would change :/ the resources to do it are definitely there. I plan on getting into Turkish next year so maybe I'll have a chance to see what it's like out of those confines.
Hi. I want study German and communicate on this language. Could you help me in it?
Firstly, WHY YOU SO PRETTY 🥺
Second, love Busuu. Def tops all apps
for me. Agree with you that it’s a good stepping stone when you don’t know where to start. Like me with Arabic. Also they advanced me so far when I took the Spanish test so they clearly know what’s up 😎
Third, how will we be friends now that you’re not on insta? I only use Twitter to laugh at trump supports. HelloTalk?

How the arabic version of Busuu?
@@totopopo it’s pretty good now that I’ve realized you can switch between Arabic script and English spelling. Lots of useful phrases to get started with without feeling too intimidating

Übrigens, „Service“ ist in der Tat ein Anglizismus. So the pronunciation is more or less like in English
Hi guys l live in Eygpt and l wanna ask you a question
" the language you study in the school, can you speak it ?"
P.s l am 18 years old
yes
I used it for french and took all the lessons they had, but I definitely didn’t reach fluency with it. I’ve had to supplement by learning with quizlet sets and reading in order to keep progressing.
of course, i think it’s very difficult to just rely on an app for language learning. i think they’re most effective when combined with other study efforts :)
yknow the one thing i find hard about german is pronouncing the letter 'r'... I juuuuust have a really hard time pronouncing r in general i cry
You're beautiul
