Glad this is coming, but I think they missed an opportunity to remap these omnis. Vol. 1 could have included and ended on Civil War 1-7 and issue 25. Volume 2 could open with The Confession and Fallen Son 1-5. Yes it means including material not by Brubaker, but it’s important to give context to how his run is being impacted. The rest of the material from the run probably could also have been compressed a bit to eliminate a 5th book, too.

These omni’s were coming as Brubaker was still working on the book. So at the time, it was unsure how long his run would be. Same with his Daredevil run. Plus omni’s were still fairly newish.

Picked up my copy yesterday, and yes, the paper is quite thin. Would be good if the Imak printers could use slightly heavier paper stock so the images don’t come thru on the other side of the pages.
Of course that transparent pages should bother everybody! It means that they have reached extreme level of page thickness!!! I don't understand how can they allow that even at their most expensive books!!

My original printing has the same glue problem, so I preordered this new version. Figure I'll keep it in reserve until my original comes apart. Did the same with X-Men by Jim Lee V2.
So I am totally buying this but I think Marvel should have just bound the Death of Captain America and Captain America Lives Omnis together. It still would have been less than 1100 pages. They could have at least added the Marvels Project series by Brubaker and Epting.

The spoiler is not the title of the book, but the fact that you keep insisting the title IS a spoiler. Sometimes a title is just a title, like Batman R.I.P. (and in that case, you kept saying that it might not stand for "rest in peace", which of course it means it doesn't 😅). I say you will be safer by just not comenting on the title.
Alex Ross’s design for Cap is one of the most underrated costumes ever. And I very much like who is under the mask. He was a solid Cap. The bolder bigger letterings on the spine of the first printing is better than the new one. I’ve read this in bits and pieces so this is a day 1 buy for sure.
If you're displaying it with the spine facing outward, I'd go with the standard since you prefer that spine. Especially since Marvel now puts both covers on the book itself. :-)

Sidenote, has there also been any word on Hickman's Avengers and Fantastic Four getting more complete collections? Hoping to finish those off too so I can FINALLY dive in!! Both my first two omnis I paid well over cover and got really bad quality copies haha. That's what I get and why you should never pay over cover. Now I'm waiting for vol 3.
I just recently got into comics. Do people think the Garth Ennis Punisher Max omnibuses will get reprinted in the next few years? Volume 1 is going new for like $200+ on ebay. Debating if I should bite the bullet or just wait and see.
I can honestly say that I’ve been collecting for 7 years now and I’ve seen most books that were considered “white whales” get a reprint. I’d say don’t buy over the odds and just wait. Read the stories on Marvel Unlimited and wait for those reprints. Just me 2 cents.

I missed out on this in '09 since I had the premier HCs at the time. But glad I ordered this months ago. Looking forward to it. But this, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Remender Cap, X-Factor, FF 3 & 4. So many books for me this month. Maybe there'll be some delays until Sept. Ha
They are different things. If that doesn't convince you, just look at this a Captain America by Ed Brubaker vol 2. No place for Civil War in that line.
I had to choose between this one and Volume 3 of the silver age run, so I went with V3. I just don't see a reason to get this book until I can ge the first volume... well... first.
A little disappointed that Marvel has decided to alter the spine on this one too as I have the original printings of the other 4 which this will not match...
Marvel really be charging omnibus prices for deluxe hardcover amount of content. Gonna have to skip this one on principle. Painful because I already own vol 1. Probably should have checked the first printing of the later volumes, but they could as easily have remapped these.
Look for used copies of the first printing. It just went up 10 bucks in 11 years. So that is something to keep in mind. Six months ago secondary market prices were insane.
@@NearMintCondition Yup, that's an option, but I'm not holding my breath. Living in Canada, so I'm limited to used copies on eBay, Amazon, a couple of local LCS, and maybe Kijiji. Usually with high shipping if point of origin is in the states.
I really bought into the hype for this run and bought the reprinting of vol. 1. And man, reading it was one of the biggest disappointments I've had since I started collecting omnibuses last year. I love the Winter Soldier film but for me, the Brubaker story lacked any of the film's depth or complexity. Will give the rest of this a pass, and hopefully I'll be able to sell off vol. 1 for a good price. Sigh.

One of the few Ed Brubaker runs i have not read. Had it on pause because i was missing this volume so im glad it got a reprint.

I do prefer the older fake leather cover, but I don’t showcase it without the dust jacket so it doesn’t really matter.
Nice overview! Pre-ordered the DM months ago! Only one I'm waiting for now is Trial of Captain America. Looking forward to reading these stories soon.

You can still find Vol 5 for under retail occasionally on the aftermarket.

I have never read this run (somewhat newer to collected editions) but I have been collecting these Brubaker reprints and am looking forward to it.
