Captain America completes the trinity of my favorite heroes. That Kubert and Jurgens art snaps so hard. And I can’t help but think how cool it is to see father and son artwork with the pencils and colors. Can’t wait to have this.
Great channel. I really appreciate the way you use your contact's with Marvel to get any missing issues included as that has traditionally been a source of frustration for collectors for years.
I wasn't expecting much from Jurgen's run when I first bought it many years ago. I bought it to complete between Waid and Brubaker and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Its a solid run and Im glad I can finally get it in omni form.
Never read this era of Cap but I think I need to check it out, the artwork alone looks fantastic. Apart from preferring a black spine to gray this looks like a very well designed omni. Thanks for the overview Omar!

@@manuelalvareztoro9523 the whole run is collected in two newish (2016-2017) TPBs called Captain America Marvel Knights. Should be able to find them no problem. Just be sure to get new editions which include 1-16 for vol 1 and 17-32 (& extras) for vol 2. They’re mostly outside of continuity though and not necessary for Brubaker run.
I know it doesn't matter with the video ... but Empyre has been delayed again, the fifth time if I'm not mistaken now let's see if it will finally come out in November or if it will be delayed again 😂. PS: the design of this book is terrific 👏!

A lot of good that sponsor did lol. I went on that site Cheap Graphic Novels today (12 hours after video was published it says) and that book is already sold out. Had no idea it was a thing either. Dangit. I remember loving these issues when I first saw em and it was my first time reading a solo Cap book. Hecka bummed out I missed the heat on this book. I guess everyone and their mom saw this video and wanted to pick it up too. Think they'll have a restock?

This run was pretty strong at the beginning when Andy Kubert was on art, but then it lost my interest when Jurgens took over art duties as well as writing. Wish Marvel was more consistent about keeping writer & artist combos together longer, but that’s just a fundamental issue with the work-for-hire model of the Big Two vs creator-owned properties. Ah well…

Sadly, I didn't enjoy the majority of Captain America Readings, due to probably the fact that i always hated the artists Marvel gave to the series and because I prefer MCU Cap. (The only case where I prefer MCU over comics). This looks very good, through. And, i have to ask you a question if you don't mind: We're not very distant from my birthday, so I want to buy some tpb. I personally have never been a fan of captain America. Similar to Superman I just hated the hype for him and how he was the goody boy. But leave it to none other than Omar, to make me actually want these cap omnis. Marvel needs to give this guy a commission. When he first announced these books I literally commented that I was not interested. Now? I might have a captain America Omni haul. Love you Omar ! My wallet? Not so much

I'm so hyped for this. Jurgens' Thor is one of the best runs the character has ever had and I love Cap.
I like the grey spine, it looks like the white spine from Waid's run is turning black like the Brubaker's one.

Tempted to by the waid and jurgens omnibus but have to finish my brubaker collection first.
11:57 my spine has no eye at all like yours, stretched couple times like I always do when I have a new book, but its almost flat, lol.
I read it on MU. I enjoyed it but I am on the fence for a purchase. I am trying to be more judicious with my spending.

Ah yes, the late nineties, when Marvel came out if their slump, but kicked the X-Men deeper into it.
This is mostly early 2000s material. There are a few 1999 extras, but the Jurgens run began on January 2000.
