My Mother was such a loving ❤ woman not only for her family but the entire neighborhood. Her spirit was so giving of others. Homeless and less fortunate were her forte daily. I think you were not in agreement with the ladies re Ivanka telling Vivica she spoke well and if that's the case I'm with you. “You speak well“, here’s the thing I learned in corporate America years ago, if you don’t say to white people, “you speak well“, don’t say it to black folk! Because the racist connotation is that you have subscribe to the belief that all black folk speak in broken English and Ebonics. African Americans who are very articulate do not need white folk to tell them what they already know. I have had white folk tell me I speak well, I’m thinking, did you think I didn’t know that and most people that I associate with and were raised around speak just as well as I do. I even had one white person tell me, “I’m a credit to my race“?!!?
Ivanka's comment was not a compliment. It's in the same category as "You're pretty for a black girl". Racist words then, racist words now.
I do feel that racist words do not, necessarily, make one a racist just ignorant.
I can only think of 2 scenarios where commenting on how well one speaks is appropriate:
1) You are addressing a person speaking English as a second language
2) You are addressing a 5 year old.
I have heard "you are pretty for Black Girl"....from WW too many times....and I do not like it.

One thing I love when you Queens address the social issues you are discussing it from different shades which also bring different experiences with in our communities and society as a whole.
From skin bleaching to the "educated" Black person that refuses to see or understand racism. There are a lot of Black community insecurities that also defeat the reconstruction of Black pride and power.
