Why is Lisa Raye acting like Stephanie Mills nusic is her mamas generation, not ours? Come on sister Lisa..we are the same age. Stephanie Mills is only 10 years older than us. Her music is from our generation!
Stephanie Mills is of her mother's generation, because when Stephanie Mills first got started in the business LisaRaye wasn't born. When Stephanie Mills released her first album at 17 LisaRaye was 7 years, so she wasn't listening to Stephanie Mills music. Ten years is a big age difference when you are speaking in regards to young people. I say Stephanie Mills is of my mother's generation as well, because I wasn't listening to her music as a child just like LisaRaye. When Stephanie MIlls was 20, LisaRaye was 10 that is a big age difference and Stephanie Mills is singing about grown women stuff not children stuff which is what LisaRaye was at the time. That's why she said her mother played Stephanie Mills music when they would be doing choirs on the weekend, which is how a lot of us knew of these artist at young ages because we were not old enough to know of these artist on our own wer learned about these artist through our parents. Her music is not from our generation, just like a lot of these younger artist say Tupac was not of their generation even though they were here before he died but because they were young they don't consider Tupac of their generation.

That Queendom topic had me in the feels. That was a great question and topic that I think our entire community could benefit from diving into. I've experienced that numerous times with family members and the ladies' convo gave me a fresh perspective. I agree that there should be accountability for whomever created the issue and if both parties contributed then an even deeper/tougher/mature convo should be had and no one should be placed in the middle. As for the underdog comment: I believe, as most do, the underdog usually has a unique perspective and an approach that the crowd doesn't fully understand so that person becomes ostracized and sometimes looked down upon when really all they need is understanding.
