One of the best things I've done was to stop judging my father about not being the father I needed. I decided to approach him in friendship. I found out he really didn't have the tools to be a Dad. He turned out to be one tremendous friend but I ended up teaching him how to love. He's been dead 3 yrs now. Glad I didn't let that chance slip away.

LR hit the nail on the head, my father died when I was 2. I remember through elementary and middle school my friends would ask was I jealous If I saw little girls with their fathers I would say I can’t miss what I can’t remember. Then as an adult in 20s I realized, I didn’t want a wedding because I didn’t have a father to walk me down the aisle, I don’t want to have a son because I think I can’t connect. My husband notices ways that I am guarded and then I was like I need therapy

Babeee I'm a 49 year old black, queer man and because of the Major Trauma my family experienced together, my 77 year old mother (when triggered) still tries to weaponize the word homosexual against me.
And my 47 year old brother (when triggered) will berate me, by saying I want to be a woman, just because I sleep with men (and women, when the chemistry is right!).
Does it hurt? Yes, of course, but that was before I spent time in group therapy, focused on my Complex trauma.
Now, I've been in therapy for years, but a 6 week, group therapy, emotional/ behavior health program, allowed me to rebuild my foundation, way stronger than I ever could've dreamed...and on zoom no less!!!
So now, I'm no longer triggered in the same way emotionally, by their attacks. And I can allow myself to love them wholeheartedly, with my boundaries fundamentally secured, while laughing at their limitations...
And how did I realize what I needed? It wasn't anything else but GOD!!! I was at such a low point (suicidal ideation and all), that I was finally able to hear GODS VOICE so CLEARLY!!!
Moral of the story? God will undoubtedly show you the way, but will not snap those busy, cosmic, fingers just to fix...you!!!
We were created in GODS image, which means we have GODS GRACE INSIDE of US, which is our greatest tool to affect our greatest....change!🧐😏😁
So glad you are coming to peace with your family and living your authentic life. You deserve nothing less.

Yes I just got custom to my father's absence, got married ex had both parents in the home but I still was the head in care for kids working mowing lawn, cooking..etc. The ex never spent time with the kids in the same, so I was custom to being front and center. I was the protector but now with my new man he's like let me lead because he can and know how so I'm working to enjoy the softer side.

Definitely know what y'all mean when you say you yearn for your father. My dad was in my life, in the home but was diagnosed with Alzheimer's right around the time I was becoming "grown", so I never had him to call and ask all the questions girls go to their dads for. I was blessed to have him while I did but I definitely still feel that i missed out on that even at 43 years old.
Why are we praising Nick??? And those women who are constantly getting pregnant by him knowing he’s not going to marry them or be under the same household. These girls are the same girls with the same energy of Carmelo Anthony. Let’s not glorify Nick. Let’s keep the same energy across the board.

What Nick Cannon is doing is no better than the Carmelo, the future and others who continued to sow their unfruitful seeds around each States; no one doesn't see that is spiritual warfare and all these legions of spirits that works in darkness are strong holding individuals mindset, body, soul to gravitate towards fleshly desires at all levels
These women or young lady forget or doesn't know their self worth
So these kids suffers and lived in separate household because Daddy or the sperm guy sowing his seed to all these unfruitful girls, just because they're pretty on the external, but ugly on the internal to not know better, lacking knowledge
This is why I rarely watch shows or programs like such when everybody has their opinions and never once the opinion are not in alignment to uprightness unto God and what is Biblically righteous to call out slackness like this
Society and media outlets has folks, many folks so strong hold and warp to the darkness in finding pleasures in fleshly desires at all levels
The panel was joking around way too much for this shenanigans, Nick, Carmelo, future, and others are no better than the rest; all in the same boat of darkness and spiritual warfare stronghold
I can relate to both sides of the coin. My father was an abusive husband and as Syleena pointed out had to “muscle up” and triggered at a very early age. Being naive, I thought my friends who were “Daddy’s Girls” had a better advantage was false because they didn’t know how to muscle up. As a result, they dated disrespectful, abusive partners. As to Claudia, I used to always wonder what it would’ve been like to have a healthy relationship with my father and how things might have turned out. As I got older and experienced some things, I learned self-care is the key to inner peace
I thank god that my parents were together till death did them part but my daddy died when I was 28 and I was closer to my dad more than my mom I was a daddy girl and still is even though he’s not here anymore!!!! 😭
I'm 43, never met my biological father, and yes it hurts. I reached out to him as a kid and he did not want a relationship. Time does not heal all wounds.
Acceptance does though. Sumtimes we just need to accept the situations we can't change.. It sucks yes but rather strive for peace of mind and protect ur mental.

Hi, I agree with you. I had sisters. No brothers. My dad was also in the home. And yet it felt like he wasn't. He was not as hands on as he should have been. And I did not like it. Especially having daughters. He always left most things to my mom to handle. He's been gone a long time. Some things in your life you never will forget.

I think that would make forgiveness a little harder; & adult children still need their parents in their lives except the needing/parenting comes as support or guidance! Of course everyone doesn't feel like me, but I know moving forward & apologizing for the past is still less challenging than those who remained absent!!

As I walked pass him, I turned around and waved to him. He smized at me and waved back. Even during quarentine he walked so gracefully and was dressed well. I was happy that he was so down to earth.
