    During my time in Navy boot camp, scheduling a fitness test was all it took for those aspiring to join BUD/S. Achieving times in the top 10% meant you were awarded a BUD/S slot when one became available. Back then, there were no BUD/S prep courses or SEAL/SWCC boot camp divisions. My introduction to the SEALs in 1978 came from a flyer I spotted at the YMCA pool I frequented.

    The Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) were both the predecessors to and separate from the SEALs, initially. Even after the SEALs were formed, there were still UDTs. In 1983, the two programs were combined. This is why SEALs train in demolitions, as well.

    All the SQT stuff you saw where they talked about teaching them dive physics and onward, was after Hell Week was over. So they go back to a somewhat normal schedule where they have weekends off and only do school during the day, not all through the night as well. They dont continue to only get 4 hours of sleep a week for the entire time they are training. Only for that one week.

  • @Victoriant1
    @Victoriant1 2 месяца назад +2

    After you’ve been selected for SEALS from all this it's an additional 2.5 years of training before you go on your first mission. Every single SEAL is considered to be an investment of over $1,000,000 dollars.
    Also, the small boats you see them carrying aren’t for abandoning ship they’re for insertions. They will get dropped off via ship, submarine, or helicopter quite far from where their mission is sometimes. They have all different ways of getting the rest of the way there but many times it can be via those small boats. They also use a small/mini submarine called a Navy Seal Delivery Vehicle to get them the rest of the way to shore from the larger ship or submarine but they also have several different style and size boats. The SWCC are counterpart teams for the Seals who are further and specifically trained in everything having to do with boats. Repair, insertion of the Seals, Recovery of Seals but Seals go much further then SWCC in all other forms of training.

    One thing y'all need to understand. Hell week is not training. It's a weeding out process. It's pure pain to find out who really wants to be there. Who is willing to do anything and give everything to be there. The training comes afterwards.

    The beach scenes, carrying the boats and logs, paddling into the waves, rolling in the sand while wet with salt water, all take place near San Diego, California on the beaches of Coronado. The Pacific Ocean water is cold when compared with Atlantic water because of the currents that come from the north, rather than the south (the Gulf of Mexico) on the east coast. The instructors call the students, wet with salt water and covered with sand "Sugar Cookies."

    What is even crazier is that there is a tier of Navy SEAL above this. This is only the training to get you to become a basically qualified SEAL. Even after completing training you have to do follow on training in the actual SEAL teams before you actually get your SEAL pin. And once you are an actual Navy SEAL, there is a group known as NSWDG (Naval Special Warfare Development Group) that is the absolute best of the best of the Navy SEALs. There is a whole new selection process and training that most SEALs dont make it through. Those guys, commonly known as DEVGRU or more popularly SEAL Team 6, are the absolute best of the best and can go toe to toe with anybody in the world, SAS, SBS, Delta, etc...

    Special Operations is no joke... Seals are considered the toughest. But i think Marine Recon and Paratropers in the Airforce are the most grueling because they are the longest.
    Rangers are the most physical, and the most depraved. They literally expect you to survive on 2 hours of sleep every night and 1000 calories every day. And it gwts even more insane as u advance Ranger Training at 4th RTB.
    I sadly failed out of Rangers becuz i couldn't swim for a lick. Week 1 and I was out. I never went back. Never got back into tip top ship and my unit barely sends retries back. If u mess up your chance, it is hard for your unit to send u back becuz ppl are in waiting lines to get into these special schools.

    Kidz this is not training for if your ship gets taken out or if you "accidently" get put in a situation. The SEALS are a special force that can work under all conditions and rescue and perform all types of special forces work. Imaging getting dropped by air into the ocean and swimming to a beach to infiltrate. Or dropped into a desert and then walking miles to the target and having to sit for days at times waiting to move on a target. This isn't normal Navy. These are the "SEALS"

    The problem with the NSW prep course is you have kids at the top of there game physically and mentally entering Navy boot camp. Navy boot camp is a joke for these kids. They get deconditioned for 10 weeks because you got rid of the 800 divisions and put the studs in with the rest of the recruits. No extra PT, no pool time. Then you throw them in the NSW prep course and are shocked that have trouble passing the assessment. Stupid writes itself with big Navy.

    Hell week is just the start.
    Even if you make it through hell week
    The instructors can still turn you down, for whatever reason they may think, you are not qualified for further training.
    After hell week, the real training begins for the few who make the cut. If I remember right, the boats are over 300lbs. By the way, the water you're in, is just above freezing. Your body core temperature drops dramatically, you are shivering, and shaking, while being told constantly to quit by instructors on shore, who are standing next to the bell, with hot food, and drink they tempt you with. Some recruits require, work done on their teeth because of this. While this is extremely demanding physically, it's just as much, maybe even more mentally. That's not All the hell week training. Their is a lot not shown in this video.

    Sat net to a seal in an airplane over a decade ago. Really great guy but just sitting there he was super intimidating. Like sitting nexxt to the proverbial brick s**thouse!

    I don't think you have to worry about going through SEAL training dude, so, don't lose any sleep over it. I couldn't do it either. I was in the US Navy for six years, but I certainly was not a SEAL. I never came across any during my time in. I was never anywhere that would typically be at. General boot camp when you join the Navy is nothing close to BUD/S.

    You should watch the movie G.I. Jane with Demi Moore. I think it gives decent representation of the seals and its a kick ass film!

      No they’re not. Seals are strictly Navy. Other special operations from different branches attach to seals but they are not seals. Please delete this comment so you don’t give people the wrong information.

      “Navy” Seals. They may collaborate with the other branches of military at time but the Navy Seals are “NAVY” Seals!

    • @MrYabber
      @MrYabber 2 месяца назад

      Do you mean that members from those branches WORK with Seals? If so, then yes. But if you mean those branches have elements within the Seals, then no. Special units within the Army are Army Rangers, Delta Force, and Green Berets. Special unit within the Marines is MARSOC. Special Units within the Air Force are Pararescue, and Combat Controllers. Special Unit within the Navy is Navy Seals. I’m sure I missed something or even a couple of things, but they are all separate within their respective branches. Navy Seals are Navy.
