It's not dirt. It's rust. Due to the fact, the product is most likely just dipped or plated like costume jewelry. It's a very cheaply made Wish quality level product.
I have a lot of experience pilling clothing in a dry cleaners. You said that you noticed pulling or tearing on your sofa. You are only supposed to use it with the grain of your fabric. If you try to use it against the grain, it will pull the fibers in your fabric.
Thanks for actual close up of it. Confirmed my suspicion that the gold colored "blade" is actually a piece of threaded rod, commonly called All-Thread. It just has a couple slots milled into it length-wise. Wow, it sounds like it's ripping the s**t outta the couch. And the silver colored frame is nickle plated steel. The stuff you're referring to is rust. The steel wasn;t prepared properly, the nickle plating is too thin and poorly done. That rust is likely the result of poor manufacturing and sitting in a damp warehouse somewhere. (I've been a welder/fabricator for 18 yrs. So I recognize what it is. )
There’s a reason they sell these on Facebook and not in an actual store. If people actually saw the product they would never buy it. I run like hell from “as seen on Facebook “ products. Great honest review
I appreciate this video~ it definitely looks like it destroys fabric, especially if used over time. Thank goodness that was an old couch, my heart sank for you when I saw those pulls at first!
I oddly found your close-up to be very soothing ☺️ 3 minutes in, and I’m really enjoying the video so far. I appreciate how you’re both thorough and concise. Great content! Looking forward to checking out more of your videos.
This review was so authentic! I was honestly looking to see how bad this product was when I saw it in a FB ad (for fun and on the off chance it didn't suck). The shoddy quality and then the deep ripping sound on the couch. Oof! That hurt. I could feel how hard you were trying to give them the benefit of the doubt too. Thanks for putting this together and also for the detailed close-ups. I always enjoy an honest review of an "as seen on tv" type of product .
Yes! Also I keep seeing it advertised on IG and it has 4 different names it goes by. Always the sign of a legitimate brand to have a bunch of different ads all with different names, for the same product.
I bought 3 of these on Amazon for £5.00, about $3.75 . It is best for carpet not a sofa because the sofa fabric is to short. It only really works in one direction because your carpet actually has a grain direction. It works great on carpet.
Every video I've watched on these rollers have had the same disappointing results (many four legged friends here)😕 So glad to have these reviews available from real customers!
Happy to do it! I'm bummed because I see that it works well on carpet but I only have hardwood floors and really need it for our couch. I'll keep looking and if I find something that works I'll do another video1
@@briannapeters9697 The couch (and clothing) here, too😅 I think at night, they draw straws to see who gets which to completely cover before morning just to drive me insane😂
I have a set, for the carpet in my cars, and the stairs and area rugs. For the fabric on that kind of couch, it’s not recommended, but you can also push it forward. And try the bast way with the flow of fabric.
It’s not suitable for all fabric. I have velvety/suede type couches and this works great. Just test behind couch before using. Also don’t go over stichings as it will pull the strings
I have a question what do you mean by using damp wash cloth? You can use that by taking hair off things? Cause I have a dog and she sheds a lot.. and I’m constantly cleaning her beg cause she sometimes has accidents and I really don’t like when I have to clean it cause I put it in the washer then run it a couple times to get her hair out of the washer.. I use tape but I want something to get it off a lot quicker… sorry this is so long very sorry 😅
Oh no! Hey who knows it may work depending on what you have. I saw demos where it worked on low pile carpet and rugs so hopefully it will work for you in some way.
Oh man. I’ve been wanting one since Christmas and now I’m having doubts 🤨 If you don’t mind my asking, did you buy it using their Facebook link? It has nearly all 5 star reviews and even videos of it working really well for people. I tried to find it cheaper on Amazon and just ended up coming across a bunch of counterfeit ones that were tagged as Uproot Clean but distributed from companies located in other countries. Their Facebook page claims they ship from the US and I know Amazon is just a third party vendor so I’m always a bit weary when using Amazon, but just curious if it was the Facebook link leading to their direct website that you used. Thank you for the honest review! My hopes were sooo high for this product but I’m a huge victim of the “if it seems too good to be true, it usually is” scams. I hate how dishonest and fraudulent this world has become 😭
The fabric you tested it on at 3:50 is apparently one that is ruined by this thing. They actually ruin a pillow covered in this exact fabric on-camera in their own promotional video (you have to slow it down to 0.25x speed to see it clearly). It's hilarious really. I don't have it myself so I don't know if it works on other materials but I definitely wouldn't buy something like this for $20 USD. It sells for $1.50 USD on AliExpress which is more realistic for a hit-or-miss tool like this.
They come from China, its just the metal rusting from the long trip over. When you use it hold it 90 degrees and 40 degrees for more aggressive. I have a clean business and use these. They work awesome wants you get the hang
3:48, once that thing touched your coach is the moment I know I should not buy it. This is not only remove hair balls away, also your clothes or your fabric.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for this. I've been seeing ads for this a lot lately and was curious about it. The way it was ripping the fabric and the sound it would make just put me off. P.S I love your nails in this video lol
Aw thank you so much! And agreed, I knew the second I tried it that something wasn't right by the sound. Then I noticed it making little rips and that's when I was out lol.
Great video! Thank you for the honest review! I saw where someone asked if it ripped carpet fibers and the company replied "not at all when used properly" 🤔 It looks like it'll tear fabric up regardless on how you use it.🤣
My husband keeps asking if we should try it on our new one and it gives me anxiety every time he mentions it. He thought maybe the fabric of our cheep sofa was the issue but I don't know and I'm too scared to "test it out" on our new couch.
Oh, no, I will not be buying that product, it did way too much damage for my liking. And the rust on them is probably caused by sitting in a damp warehouse for so long. They aren’t selling as well as they thought they would.
That looks like it's really damaging the couch. That scraping sound has to be indicating a heavy wear with use. Yikes. The close up pictures look like it is manufactured by a toddler too.
That's "Made in China" for you. Not made in any kind of a specialized factory but in some village by children for 10 cents an hour. No proper storage available of course, so that's why it's all rusty. Quality control is obviously also not a thing in such places.
I wouldn’t be pleased if I bought something new and it arrived looking like that. This is poor customer service. That sounds like it’s tearing up the fabric fibers and it’s not getting much of the hair. I got the EquiGroomer from The Girl With The Dogs and it works great on my fabric furniture as well as my dog and low pile rug.
The second I heard you drag it across your couch, I said no way am I dragging THAT thing over my brand new furniture. Hell no! So I wasn’t surprised in the least that it damaged your couch. What a piece of crap.
The instructions clearly state that this product should not be used on knit or woven materials. You're using this on a woven material, so I'm not sure what you expected to happen. LOL.
THANK YOU! Talked me out of buying it. I wondered how this worked without catching and tearing fabric. Do you have one you like?
I haven't found one yet, but if I do I will make a video!
Fur-eel... you're welcome.

Bought mine in reputable store, was very sturdy and shiny £2.20 in Uk
A squeegee with a rubber edge. It does the same thing without damage.
I appreciate this video~ it definitely looks like it destroys fabric, especially if used over time. Thank goodness that was an old couch, my heart sank for you when I saw those pulls at first!
I couldn't believe how much pulling it did in such a short amount of time. Thank you for watching!
Omg nooooo this is awful! I'm so sorry for the quality of them first of all and also how badly it pulled that fabric😭
I would have been devastated if I had tried it out on our forever-couch so I'm thankful it was on this old one!

THIS IS THE SECOND RUclips REVIEW I'VE SEEN ON THIS PRODUCT AND IT'S JUST CONFIRMATION OF THE FIRST ONE "NOT" TO BUY IT. THANKYOU SO MUCH
I have watched other RUclips videos on this product. It seems to work extremely well on carpeting. Guess it’s not all fabric friendly.

Can I use this on my pet or is it only for the rug
In order to get the best results on fabric you need to angle it more on couches, fine fabrics, etc... it works great for me..
