    Is there any way to tell the pickup to automatically stop recording after the first loop? If I'm playing the guitar the entire time it's recording, I'm not gonna be able to hit the button to tell it to stop recording. This is bad because if I'm sustaining a note on the guitar, it will record the sustained note at the beginning of the loop. I just want to record the loop once without it starting over in overdub mode, but it seems like I'd need three hands to do it. Does that make sense?

    you sir, are an absolute legend.
    one thing that might be handy for you, take a look into "morning star - mc6" makes playing a guitar and using the octa for looping much easier. can basically use any midi controller but the morning star is possibly the easiest to configure i've ever seen

    • @Ponchy
      @Ponchy  3 года назад

      Thank you man! Yeah I tried a midi controller but it didn’t work too well and in this video I wanted to highlight how you can loop with just the Octatrack so people didn’t have to buy any external gear. I definitely wanna try that one out though so thanks for the recommendation!

      @@Ponchy yeah i went through a few different pedals before admiting that paying the price of it (actually not that dear) was worth it for no thaving heachaches of programing some others. they have good customer service too.
      really enjoying your back catalogue of videos too, thanks for all your uploads

    Could you do a follow-up that focuses on the whole workflow, setting up a great template, and then showing how to use it? I have a hard time understanding the differentiation between what is set up ahead of time and can be saved in a project versus the things you need to do each time you want to live loop. I use a bunch of loopers but haven't tried the OT yet, and thinking it could be a great way to expand my setup and extend my live looping.

    • @Ponchy
      @Ponchy  3 года назад

      Yes this is a great idea and I’ll definitely make something like that soon.

    I don't own an OT but is it possible to pan channel C and D? because that's how it's possible to control the C's amplification I believe

      Yes it is!

    Hi and thanks for the tutorial ! I don't own an OT but am seriously considering it. Question : you say you would normally use the Digitakt for rythm an instead you're using the metronome from the OT in order to keep in time. But wouldn't it be possible to use a rhythm or beat from the OT ?

    • @Ponchy
      @Ponchy  3 года назад

      Yes! It is definitely possible to make a full beat and song on the Octatrack itself. The only reason I showed the beat off the Digitakt was because I use the full Elektron setup with my Digitakt as the midi master therefore any device’s metronome can be used and the tempo is synced to the Digitakt.

    how can loop length be changed in real time (time, bars)?

  • @antifret
    @antifret 3 года назад

    good tutorial. if you were synching to a drum machine, would you find it easier to do the guitar or drums first? normally i would say drums, but the octatrack is sooooo hard to figure out i am tempted to try your technique and work the drums around it. i got one a couple of months ago and it has defeated me so far like no other equipment or instrument has.

    • @Ponchy
      @Ponchy  3 года назад

      Haha I know exactly what you mean! I think I’ll do a part 2 so I can show people how I would do it with my full setup but I definitely find that it’s easier to do the drums first.

    why not use preroll to start play in time with 1 step?

    • @Ponchy
      @Ponchy  Год назад

      I am demonstrating how to loop guitar over patterns that are already playing and therefore in a more practical sense for playing live. If I was just sitting at home making loops, I could use a preroll.

      Thank you! Yes I purposely didn’t wanna use the metronome to show what you can do in a live setting because no one wants to hear a metronome in a live setting haha.

    Как гитарист скажу, что это очень костыльный вариант. И для лайв лупинга совершенно не подходящий. Тем не менее, благодарю за попытку🙏
