More a sage than a philosopher as they don't believe in philosophers in china... philosophers are more seen as deep thinkers, but in china it's more a sage who get knowledge from nature and a force that guides them.

+Flash Man This is so racist, I swear. In any case, although Confucianism certainly teaches human subjugation to authority, there have always been rival religions and philosophies that challenged Confucianism, including Taoism which I would argue is the arch-nemesis of Confucianism. Communism itself is not about human subjugation, but the opposite, and in fact, Communists were completely opposed to Confucianism and tried to get rid of it precisely because of its authoritarianism.
