The small affect of Arcann’s eye going from Sith yellow back to blue when he killed his brother Thexan is such a powerful effect. It showed how his brother Thexan’s was the last person he cared about.
And then in the game, with Thexan gone, Arcann has no one there to keep him on the straight and narrow, and completely falls to his father's manipulations, with his eye being completely yellow. And after that, when Arcann is brought back from the brink by Senya, Arcann has had the void in his life that Thexan once occupied filled again by his mother, and thus his eyes are blue once again.
I never understood how any one could pick the option to kill him in game, after everything Valkoreon did to his own family. Even being a Sith Lord, that crosses the line, besides Arcann is also a powerbomb of a companion.
I really appreciate the detail that Thexan is always glancing at Arcann. When they leave the throne room to start their war, when he destroys the hologram projector, when they get on the ship after killing Talon, and finally when he goes to kill Valkorian. He's even noticing when the ship next to them gets blown up. Thexan knows, or is at least worried about what's coming.
How ironic. The one in black appeared to be the most skilled and the most powerful in the force between the two...yet, he died because he was unprepared to fight the one person he cared about.
@@Dondingdingding for the one in black, he cared about his brother he wasn't even trying to kill the one in white. The one in black would actually destroy the one in white to be honest.
No the one in black was soft watch about halfway when the one who was once white gets half his face burned off and his arm cut off he becomes a monster.
Some subtle details I picked up on: - Arcann and Thexan, even as children are deliberately dressed in contrasting colors. In any military, uniforms are well...uniform to promote cohesion and group identity. I honestly wonder if this was deliberate by Valkorion to try and drive a wedge between the two. - While they're training in the arena, Valkorion only leaves after Thexan helps Arcann up. There's two shots. In the first, Valkorion doesn't look like he's going anywhere. Thexan standing tall; Arcann's on his knees; and the knights are out for the count. But...as soon as Thexan helps Arcann up, that's the moment he decides to leave. Even the knight on Valkorion's right seems to be thinking "Wtf?" with the backwards glance. - When they put the crystal into the lightsaber... who's the only one to have one? Where's Arcann's lightsaber? Sure, there's parts on the table but no crystal in sight which suggests to me this is more favoritism on Valkorion's part. But again, Thexan completely misses the intended message and has Arcann with him when he makes it. I believe this is where Valkorion starts to wonder if his previous favorite isn't up to it, and starts considering his underdog son. - While they're holocalling Valkorion, he doesn't look the least bit interested in what they have to say and walks away when he sees the two of them are there together. Both are disappointed, but only Arcann reacts badly. But, think about what Valkorion's been saying throughout the whole trailer: "A man can have anything, if he's willing to sacrifice" and "Your privilege is the dirt [...] Your birthright the losses you suffer. Your entitlement the pain you endure." He's not saying this to be a pointless dick -- he believes completely what he's saying. That bad experiences are a gift. - In the next scene, Arcann's injured and still, Thexan's right there with him. Holding his forearm while he screams with pain. But, immediately after, Thexan's nowhere to be seen. It's Arcann who cuts through 3-4 Sith like a hot knife through butter, using his cybernetic arm to overpower the Twi'lek. One wonders if he might've been capable of doing so if he hadn't been injured. - When both arrive to present Valkorion with their tributes, look at them. Think about the connotations of Black and White. Black is usually connected with corruption; deceit; evil; disloyalty etc. White is connected with goodness; wholesomeness; purity; peace etc. And yet, Thexan is completely loyal and comfortable in his place, has suffered no injuries and attempts to stop Arcann's assassinating Valkorion. Whereas Arcann is filthy, missing a limb and half of his face, and is the one to try and kill his father. - Finally, Thexan's grip slides out of Arcann's, despite neither of them wanting to let go. Finally, the last anchor on Arcann is gone, and Valkorion can mould him as he wishes. Edit: Actually, there's something else I noticed. When Arcann stabs the Sith attempting to crawl away, the Sith's mask is open in the exact place that Arcann's face is covered. Perhaps this means that Arcann's becoming more and more like a Sith with time?
Just knowing that someone still watches these and cares about the quality of Star Wars instead of the scraps disney throws at us gives me hope for the future of this fandom.
Also to add, when Valkorian says "and when darkness finds you, you will face it alone" arcann is seen alone for the first time, neat little thing there
79ward Tell me about it. I've been wishing for the same ever since I saw the Deceived trailer they released back a few years ago to promote the game. Instead we just get another SWTOR expansion which is honestly nothing home to write about.
Peter K I don't agree with that, though I've just started getting into SWTOR so maybe it's because I haven't played the expansions yet. I would really like a film starring a Sith as the protagonist, though. I've been enjoying the more grey version of Bioware's Empire and Republic, where the Republic clearly have a lot of issues with how the handle things, rather than being the token good.
79ward Im not sure that will ever happen :'( You see, I think that the budget they put into just these small 5 minute cutscenes alone is probably INSANE! To make an hour and a half movie would probably be the budget of like.....2 and a half games lmao! There was an old saying that because the Old Republic was so poorly received, that it was believed that most of the game's budget went into their cgi shorts XD Awesome though they are, I'd bet they're EXPENSIVE AS ALL HELL!
I've watched this dozens of times, and these 5 minutes are a million times better than DisneyJJRian's crappy sw7 and 8. Those EF'ing Disney creations are not Star Wars!
The Darth Vader comics are really messed up with what he does but Disney wouldn't put it in films because it would stain their child friendly reputation
Not only his eyes, but also that faint almost imperceptible smile showing on his face when one of his sons was about to struck him down. Old bastard knew all along what's going to happen.
I love when he strikes down his brother. He switches from sith eyes to normal eyes, in disbelief of what he’s done. The attention to detail is immaculate. Could watch this over and over again.
You really don't deserve the rank of Emperor anymore and giving a lot of space not really Valkorion was seeking revenge on the sith and the jedi Don't ask why it's just a lot of the people say that
Do you even know what you are talking about? Have you even played the game? If so your comment makes no sense, Valkorion couldn't give two shits about the galaxy if he tried, I'd go into the details but you have google so use it
Important note, Thexan(the twin in black) doesn’t stop arcan(the twin in white) because he loves his father. He stops arcan because he knows arcan is no watch for the emperor. He stopped him because he was trying to save his brother. Thexan protected his brother to the very end
2:53 That face tells you everything. It's like, "Are you KIDDING ME? I fought countless battles, built my own lightsaber, trained from childhood, LOST MY ARM AND HALF MY FACE, ALL FOR YOU, AND THIS IS WHAT I GET???" All he wanted was his father's recognition and in the end, he got it... at the cost of his brother, the one person who did care about him.
Arcann in his mind: Are you...fucking joking?! I lost my arm and half my face, trained for years, *AND THIS IS WHAT I GET AS A REWARD!? A SIMPLE GLANCE?! AND THEN YOU JUST TURN AWAY?!? WHAT KINDA FATHER ARE YOU?!?!!"
I feel that these and all the other old republic trailers, are the dark and gritty Star Wars films we never got. Films with emotion, personality, and an overall greyness instead of the black and white good and evil. If only we had more Star Wars films like this.
There are only two forces at work in the world (or the galaxy): Right and wrong, good and evil, God and Satan. People are just different shades of gray. Here's a good definition of evil: "The absence of good;" just as darkness is the absence of light, and cold is the absence of warmth.
the vast majority of the story of swtor is garbage. poorly written characters that just cater to the lowest common denominator of fans. you mistake good storylines for good scene's... there is a difference and the writters of swtor made great scenes but didnt know how to tie them all together, which is why alot of characters made choices that they wouldnt have, it was to move the plot along. which is BAD story telling
Ninvus Gaming but-but in that time there were more jedi and sith than now, since disney doesn't follow the comics or novels story line (only a little i guess) after episode 6, i think swtor would be more epic than the new episode.
@49Shadow - no it wouldnt, you think you want it but you dont. 1) the old republic era is only known within the star wars fans, it would be very stupid for disney to make a movie around the old republic area because 1) if they made a revan movie it would suck because lets face it revan was a over hyped character who did nothing but blunder his way around the galaxy and his greatest achievement was cleaning up his own mess with malak. 2) swtor is a failing mmo (most consider it a failed one already) 3) its not a recognizable name for the masses, the average movie goer does give a hot shit about the EU (no one should its a collection of 97% trash fan fictions with only 3% of them are any good like the thrawn books) ultimately the force awakens era is a better business movie for disney and a better movie for us.
Maybe better for you but not for me, you know i kinda miss the episode 1 to 3 for the diversity in the species race who fought in this war not only human, because it's named star wars which is meant to be a war in star. Well that's only my opinion though, and thanks for telling me some facts about swtor and also please correct me if i am wrong..
i could watch a whole trilogy about the twins being raised as warriors and the ways of the force, going to war and seeing the whole story unfold even if i knew this same thing was gonna happen, i'd pay top dollar to watch such a thing, for whoever holds the rights over that story arc/characters
I'm afraid Disney would now be the one holding the rights.... And they would fuck it up. So although I would pay top dollar for it too and I absolutely love Swtor. I hope it never gets made. No matter how strong the glue is, you will always see the cracks in a glass vase.
yeah? would you still "pay top dollar" when it was turned into a trilogy full of LGBT, token people, political correctness and all kinds of virtue signals? I highly doubt that. You might think they cannot possibly ruin this but believe me, they can. Just be happy they managed 4 mins without ruining it. Today, thats 4 mins more then one can hope for. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
Ryan Goodwin sibling is the wrong word. He was killed by his brother, the only one left that cared for him, brotherhood works that way, it goes alot deeper then blood.
Yeah but honestly it feels more like Thexan wasn’t really after love from his dad that much but was content with the love of his brother. Arcann was the one who desired his father’s love along with his brother’s love or the very least one tender moment of acknowledgement instead being brushed off his entire life up until that point in this trailer. In short, this is some tragic Cain and Abel swtor gold.
Honestly this could serve as a singular, standalone short film in itself. It's dark, brooding, dramatic, engaging, and subtle. Arcann, without a single spoken word of dialogue from both him and Thexan, is visibly changing with each display of Vitiate's indifference. And Thexan knows it. This is a perfect example of showing a story as it unfolds, rather than telling it.
not everything works with a longer running time. this worked perfectly as a trailer, but as a short film or even full length it would not be as good or even good at all.
@@tilentgamer8758 sure, but it wouldnt. going on lucas art's track record... it will not be thoughtful or interesting, it will be generic action not focused on character like the trailer. would have themes that would not really work or are not fully formed, to the degree they become jarring like in the sequels. besides it wouldnt ever get made as a movie, nothing to bait nostalgia with to get people in theaters. swtor as a game is rather piss poor in both quality as a MMO and lack of good quality story telling and writing. trailers make great trailers because they do not need to fill the 2 hour and 30 min mark of most movies, or tie each scene together in a way that works. it *COULD* work in theory but it will never get green lighted or even make it to a board meeting because frankly they care more about making money off of nostalgia than trying something new that could open the door for them to make more money
@@ninvusoogoar6098 It is true the whole Eternal throne arc was wasted. Shadow of Revan was anything as good as Knights of the Old Republic itself. But a lot of that could be related to a MMO setting, you cannot have your character changing anything as others want to be their own Heroes. I think that this trailer could give rise to an amazing story. The characters are there, the potential drama is there. What is needed is a media that can allow for breaking rules, have consequences and tell a story more about the characters, where the state of the universe is more a consequence of the characters intentions than the real plot driver. A by product, if you want, of the conflict between them. Pity they wasted it so much. Could have been the greatest star wars story ever.
The way the Twi'lek Sith's face twists from inflicted pain, anger and hatred to abject terror at 2:00 - 2:04 is so goddamn well done and chilling. 4 years on and this trailer is still a masterpiece.
Maanya Shukla there is no 9. The last Jedi was the last time we will probably see Fin and Rey. After that we get the Han Solo and Boba Fett movie. Then once those are complete we get a whole new storyline in a galaxy far far away.
I have to say the emperor´s speech in the beginning, motivated me in my university studies over years. Always when I was close to become lazy or if I didnt want to start studying I watched the beginning: "A man can have anything if he is willing to sacrifice". Indeed, you sacrifice your time and amusement for studying hard, but it is worth it.
without actual purpose, all that effort can easily come crashing down. Don't follow something you don't truly believe,be an adult and choose your fate, for better or for worse.
@@kraidar8111 power doesn't corrupt, but it does attract the corruptible. They have been just men who use their power wisely throughout history, but they are the rare exception. It is not power that breaks you down, but weakness that leads to cowardice, and cowardice which becomes evil.
The white warrior lose a half of face and a hand for father but the father don't see a thaks , and the son has very very cry and jump to kill father but the brother stop him and pay with life for this .
@Alex Freeman uh when i said i hate women or black? I really liked Finn but Rey is Mary sue ._. She has everthing force without having trainings and don't come saying "she is sensitive Force" because wtf is she is, she need training to control the force the sensitive doesn't mean you alredy know how to use.
That trailer had more drama, tension, epicness and character development than Episode 7&8 combined. I cared more about the two brothers than about the complete cast of the new movies. Those are the stories I want to see. Dramas, characters development over a long time and not such Mary Sues´s that are omnipowerfull without doing anything.
King of the Ring exactly it's something new and never seen before in a Star Wars movie. 3rd faction that isn't the republic or the empire but something its own who kills both Jedi and sith. 2 brothers born for the sole purpose of destroying the Jedi and sith who's whole life's revolve around training in the force. Thus would make such a fucking badass Star Wars movie.
"Omnipowerful without doing anything" Doesn't the Old Republic have those in spades? Honestly Rey has a better reason to be so powerful (Because she was chosen by the force to bring balance) than the Knight or Counsellor, whose abilities are hyped af right out of the gates.
King of the Ring Rey isn't a Mary Sue. She had to learn how to fight using a weapon, or even hand to hand combat as she was by herself from a young age. She knew how to fly ships as she had spent years scavenging and flying them. So, her talent is quite justified. Plus, she has the force.
Valkorion can be considered the most accurate representation of the Devil. No horns. No red skin. No dark suit. Just a man with a soothing, but yet, menacing presence
I will agree it is pretty accurate and can be considered the most, but I will always think Mark Pellegrinos satan on supernatural is the perfect representation, in supernatural he's the most barbaric angel there is but also non chalant and dresses in normal clothes and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty unlike his angel brothers who just touch your forehead and you die. He prefers to punch his fist through your body. Also instead of having his demon minions ( who he finds to be worse than humans) dig his giant hole to fill with body's to summon death from his imprisonment, he digs it himself. I highly recommend the first 5 seasons of supernatural
The Devil appears to you as what you really want the most to tempt you. Seeing as the man in white wanted nothing more than his father's approval, he finally got it but at the cost of his beloved brother's life, killed by his own hand.
@@two-bearshigh-fiving9293 Read some lore on archangel Sameal. Micheals twin and the devil himself and he is almsot exactly like that accoring to the christian and I believe hebrew text. He was barbaic and even wrestled a man that he already injured. Hes prideful but also knows he never truly "loses".
Jesus why wasn't this the last Star Wars movie?? Edit: Holy crap, 2 k likes, ty!! Also this is the best storytelling in the last 2 decades out of Hollywood still. Plus he now has the eternal Mangekyu!
Arcann's actions are totally understandable to me. He's a young man who has done so many things in his father's name, yet his father has never acknowledged it. Worse, it's implied that his father has NEVER recognised either him or his brother as his sons. At that point he believes nothing he ever does will win his father's praise, approval or affection, and that all he's done over his entire life has been a wasted effort. By this time rage has overcome any rational reasoning he might have had, and he'll lash out at anyone who tries to stop him. That's super relatable. Anger can and does do that to people. But here he returns to his senses right after the fatal blow and realises what he's done to his beloved brother. He shows genuine heartbroken remorse for his actions. Were this a Sith order, his father would be gleeful. If this were a Jedi order, he'd be cast out as a lost soul tainted by the dark side, or killed to prevent him killing more people. But his father doesn't do any of these things. Instead he finally calls Arcann his son and offers his hand, a gesture of affection. The way I understand it, this trailer is an explanation of the Eternal Empire's philosophy on the Force. Chiefly, how they intend to use both the light and dark sides. Arcann after his mutilation has an outfit that is both made of light clothing and dark metal prosthetics, symbolising his use of both the light and the dark. The emperor makes the statement that "a man can have anything, if he sacrifices." It's a combination of Sith and Jedi thought, demonstrated when he acknowledges Arcann only after he sacrifices the bond he has with his brother, who meant the world to him.
frostyguy1989 So do you think Thexan, I believe that's what his name was, understands his brother? Watching it and the looks he sent him when he glared at his father make it hard for me to tell.
I love the fact that although the brother dressed in black seems much more peaceful and has control over his emotions, he still shows the flag of the Sith Empire. Meanwhile the brother dressed in white, much more violent and terrified because of his experiences, he shows the Old Republic flag. Everyone would asume it would be the other way around, but this story completely changes the idea of the dark and the light side.
These guys are not Sith and having nothing to do with that Empire. They are part of a third faction called the Eternal Empire which was at war with the Jedi and the Sith.
@@bautibonzini2835 The flags don't mean anything, just used to wrap spoils of war. The one on the left is the symbol of the Sith Empire the one on the right is for the Jedi. The usual; takeover the galaxy.
The manifestation of hatred shown here is very realistic. It festers for years on end without you realizing it, and in a brief second you snap. It controls your every muscle, the very essence of your being. In that moment, you're invincible, capable of unleashing catastrophic damage on everything around you. Then, it goes as soon as it came. In the following moment, remorse fills you like a dam about to burst. Then, you spend the rest of your life dealing with the fallout of your pain
@@revolverocelot1380 when I first did it with my juggernaut, I could relate to Arcann as I turned to the light after Ziost leaving my days as the emperor's wrath behind...
Nah, not really. These are just two bald dudes that end up killing each other. Kylo is being torn between light and dark, but kills Han because he believes it will make him stronger. In the end he doesnt feel any stronger, and is only left with shame. Kylo and Han is waaaaaaaaaaaaayyy more interesting
@@eccentricjoe5410 actually yes. These two baldoes, named Thexan (black) and Arcann (white) are brothers and sons of Vitiate (the old guy). Vitiate intentionally provoked Arcann's dark side through neglect and when he had too much, he tried to kill Vitiate, only for Thexan to try to stop him and die in the process. Look at Arcann's eye, he immediately regrets striking Thexan and frees himself from the dark side (his eyes losing that sith yellow and turning back to their natural blue) holding onto Thexan in silent guilt to make sure Thexan didnt die as alone as Arcann felt.
+Boshwa be hard, it usually takes them like a year to make a cinematic of this quality. imagine how many people they would need to make the movie in a decent time frame.
+xxJOHNLIKESPIExx Only way we could have a decent movie in this time frame is if we have a kotor 3 that can complete the series. Honestly to complete that game would require the either the exile finding revan and go off from that or revan coming back and the exile can either choose to stop him or join him.To even go further mid game would be when you have that choice and at the end the exile would have to fight him either way. That way the movie would make sense cause swtor doesnt make any sense plus way to many character arcs to make a movie out of it.
I don't get why everyone wants to get Disney and Kathleen Kennedy to make an Old Republic Movie. The Old Republic is by far my favorite Star Wars Era and I feel that they would just screw it up like the new Republic and new Jedi Order Era. I would be cool if Dave Filoni made it because he seems to know his stuff but I dont want this part of star wars ruined.
Filoni fucked up the Mandalorians with that peaceful Mandalorians bullshit, completely disregarding canon up to that point. You don't think he'd do the same to the Old Republic period?
Ikr, it's like 6€ or some shit here for a movie, I'd pay 30 to see a movie finally giving me as much feelings as this 4minutes video did, because damn, I waited 3 days, just to have the perfect setting for me to watch it, that's how awesome it is
Pure hatred knows no bounds, and with that said, it can make one forget temporarily, what's right from wrong. The rage and anger of loss for their father led the broken brother to attack his father, and in the midst of anger, the broken one killed his brother while drunk with darkness and recognized too late that he was blind. The father saw the darkness within his son and finally accepted him in order to take advantage of a broken hero. Something that occurs within this world we live in more than we could possibly know and understand. As a twin who’s recently lost his identical twin, this story speaks volumes to me and is helping me instill hope and strength. What a wonderfully written and animated trailer.
I’m sorry to hear for your recent lost of your twin brother, I bet it would speak volumes, which character would your brother be, and yourself as well.. my older brother got me into Star Wars and we would pick which character we were, I’ve watched this trailer a couple of times with him, l guess I would probably be the guy in white, at first probably the guy in black but later turn and have hatred, and evil in my heart; the one who would probably kill
mrsandigggg I was just stating that they are warriors who kill for survival and in reality, if you were to call them "babes"... They'd lop your head, clean off LMFAO
Davorn Uryn I think EAs the publisher of SWTOR tho lol. But to be fair when they back off and let the devs do their thing without being overly bearing (like they’ve been with battlefront 2 for the last year or so) good things happen.
Not even a hardcore Star Wars fan. But I know perfection when I see it. I keep coming back to this video because it's soooo well done. Mostly because people with actual talent created this. It's so obvious that there's a huge drop in the quality of storytelling now. Damn shame.
Notice the symbolism in this trailer. One of the twin brothers is wearing black, yet he's compassionate. The other is wearing white, yet he's easily seduced by power. Usually black represents darkness (ie: Anakin), while white represents the light (ie: Obi-Wan). You’d expect a person in the Star Wars universe wearing black to be evil, and a person wearing white to be a good guy. But no - It’s a somewhat reverse. Neither seem to be light or dark side. They even have the same colored saber - yellow. They’ve fought both Sith Empire and Galactic Republic and Jedi Order. Yet each brother seems to exhibit a certain opposite behavior, despite what you’d expect from what they’re wearing, which is supposed to symbolize their moral stance. Even the brother wearing white uses the Force in a dark manner the way a Sith would - forcefully making a hand gesture and destroying a hologram, while the brother wearing black looks on in silence. And later on in the trailer, the brother wearing white is fitted with a mask and prosthetic arm (in "Star Wars", people with masks and/or machinery on their person tends to be a villain). And the brother wearing black - when he's young during a training session - shows compassion by stretching out his arm to help his brother stand up. And that arm hold is a symbol of their strong brotherhood. Over the years, these 2 do this arm hold for support and appreciation for one another. But after their brief duel, once the brother in black falls and dies, that last arm hold is a sign that their brotherhood is now over. Another sign that these 2 brothers aren't good nor evil is after the brother in white realizes he's killing his own brother, his golden eyes (a sign of the corruption of the dark side) lightly flicker back to his original eye color. Why is Star Wars filled with such amazing symbolism??
+95onimusha he should've been able to call on the dark side to "suck it up". Normal everyday soldiers can continue fighting at high levels after a gun shot wound so someone with force powers should be able to fight better than a normal human
Ngl I think that’s just a trick with the lighting bro. I rewatched it like 5 times and i see where you think he’s smiling on the left side of the mouth but I think that’s just a trick of the light caused by the light from the lightsaber illuminating the dark area there. I could be wrong though, who knows
Nathan Blank What I don't understand is in all the previous clips we seen the son in the black robes outperforming/out-surviving the son in the white robes, so how can the son in the white kill the other so easily?
Giga Grievi but why did he display a Jedi flag. Nathan Blank that is probably the correct theory :P Although, why would a sith (assuming from flag) hold back?
Well at that point he realized that he killed the only person that cared for him... His brother... To be honest he should have left the other brother kill the father...
A man can have anything if he is willing to sacrifice. With your birth comes a solemn vow. You will have nothing. Your priviledge is the dirt. In the darkness, only ambition will guide you. The oaths you swear, the promises you take, they are yours alone. Your freedom would be the wars you wage. Your birthright the losses you suffer. Your entitlement the pain you endure. And when darkness finds you, you will face it alone. Come with me, son.
There’s so much meaning packed into this short, even just by the facial expressions and hidden meanings there’s so much to discover. Ughhhhh such a masterpiece, also the music is phenomenal
I'm a twin, so watching this always makes me sad. Just thinking about what Arcann became over time and the death of of his brother is what finally will send him over the edge.
Literally just noticed it on my fifth watch at this point. His original form does have red eyes so it’s scary some of his old form shows in this mere second.
I love the cinematography. At 0:39, he holds onto his brother, picking him up; showing his love for him. And then at 3:31 the same brother is letting him go, showing the personal bonds you must shed and the pain you must endure to become powerful. This also signifies that his brother was morally "holding him back" like an anchor from power. And him letting him go, shows the first transition into power. Just the very first line the father says foreshadows this "A man can have anything, if he is willing to sacrifice." Even though, he killed him unintentionally.
Nah arcann was boring the other brother was way cooler just from this trailer alone and no doubt he would have washed arcann if he wanted to kill him... but who wants to kill their brother? Should have kept the black robes one alive or a least more insight on him and not arcann
The brother in black was obviously the more gifted fighter and warrior along with being calm and collected, you can see it throughout the trailer, The one in white was much more vengeful, emotional, and aggressive (although less innate talent than his brother)...things that work well for a dark side user. I'm assuming Vitiate planned (or at least hoped for) this all along. Even though the one in black was stronger, the one in white had what Vitiate truly wanted. He played him like a fiddle.
that's good writing. simple yet effective as it enstablishes every character relationships, motivations and goals, all in just a few minutes with no dialogue. this opening felt like the prologue in Fellowship, you know you're about to witness a story larger than life, perfect set up. If this was a saga, it could've been the next LOTR, and i'm dead serious.
STILL in 2019, one of the greatest pieces of media one can consume in under 5 minutes. This trailer is quite literally one of my favorite solitary pieces of the ENTIRE Star Wars franchise. Masterful in design.
Do you know how expensive it would be to do an entire movie like this? Even if theyhad the resources to do a full film they would never go through with it unless they could guarantee a big net profit.
dont really care about starwars, and dont even watch the movies, randomly found this trailer / cinematic. honestly best trailer i've seen of any game or movie.
It really choke me up, when you see Arcann strike his own brother down out of pure rage, and then his raging sith eyes eyes turn to normal, because he finds out he just killed his own brother....damn
The transition at 3:46 from complete harmonical chaos to such a powerfull sound gives me goosebumps every single time again... Anyone knows other music like that?
this and that bd1 part late in star wars fallen order are the only things that have ever made me cry in the star wars universe. I haven’t done many reading of the star wars universe however to my own disappointment.
3:02 "I'VE GROWN TIRED OF THIS, YOU IGNORED US SINCE WE WE'RE BORN, WE DID SO MUCH TO GAIN YOUR APPROVAL, AND YET YOU CONTINUE TO TURN YOUR BACK ON US! IF YOU DIDN'T WANTED TO BE A FATHER YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER GAVE BIRTH TO US, DIE!" 3:13 "HOW DARE YOU STOP ME! IF YOU STAND IN MY WAY THEN YOU CAN DIE ALONGSIDE HIM!" 3:20 "Wha... what have I done?"
@@jessietoney8919 Not true. You (as the hero in SWTOR) kill Vaylin (Arcann and Thexan's little sister) with help of their mother and Arcann. She did not kill her mother. Only the hero can kill the mother, if you decide to do so.
This trailer had more story, emotions, character depth, connection of audiance to the characters, and better lightsaber duels than the whole sequel trilogy

Khalid Hamadeh thexan
He is Thexan. And yes, Thexan had greater control of his emotions and knew that Arcann was not pleased with Valkorion's behavior
@@BossVolt Man, reading this makes me want to play SWTOR again just to experience this story. Arcann is such a cool character
His father eyes turn yellow when he look at his son

What do we need to sacrifice to turn SWTOR into a movie?
Kathleen Kennedy.
#kennedyforhumansacrifice
Disney and EA
Kennedy confirmed SWTOR movies
@@jmayk04 will she put her agenda on it ?
Some subtle details I picked up on:
- Arcann and Thexan, even as children are deliberately dressed in contrasting colors.
Somehow you made the video even better.

Peter K I don't agree with that, though I've just started getting into SWTOR so maybe it's because I haven't played the expansions yet. +Danengscot I hear you. Instead we got an Ep4 rehash wit Ep7.
There are only two forces at work in the world (or the galaxy): Right and wrong, good and evil, God and Satan. People are just different shades of gray. Here's a good definition of evil: "The absence of good;" just as darkness is the absence of light, and cold is the absence of warmth.

Adriana Sanchez Umm...what?

they HAVE to make these old Republic storylines into movies, they're so good
the vast majority of the story of swtor is garbage. poorly written characters that just cater to the lowest common denominator of fans. you mistake good storylines for good scene's... there is a difference and the writters of swtor made great scenes but didnt know how to tie them all together, which is why alot of characters made choices that they wouldnt have, it was to move the plot along. which is BAD story telling
Ninvus Gaming but-but in that time there were more jedi and sith than now, since disney doesn't follow the comics or novels story line (only a little i guess) after episode 6, i think swtor would be more epic than the new episode.
now rewrite your comment but instead of "swtor" you say "TFA"

Just be happy they managed 4 mins without ruining it. Today, thats 4 mins more then one can hope for. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
Gotta feel bad for poor Thexan. Died because he loved a father that didn't really care about him.... And murdered by his sibling
i think valkorian pushed arcaan the most.
You want to say he was a gay?
Ryan Goodwin sibling is the wrong word. He was killed by his brother, the only one left that cared for him, brotherhood works that way, it goes alot deeper then blood.
I doubt he cared for the father, Thexan likely knew that his brother would be death if he did not act.
All of my friends who are into making movies have thanked me for forcing them to watch this
not everything works with a longer running time. this worked perfectly as a trailer, but as a short film or even full length it would not be as good or even good at all.
@@ninvusoogoar6098 maybe but it can work
@@tilentgamer8758 sure, but it wouldnt. going on lucas art's track record... it will not be thoughtful or interesting, it will be generic action not focused on character like the trailer. would have themes that would not really work or are not fully formed, to the degree they become jarring like in the sequels. besides it wouldnt ever get made as a movie, nothing to bait nostalgia with to get people in theaters. swtor as a game is rather piss poor in both quality as a MMO and lack of good quality story telling and writing. trailers make great trailers because they do not need to fill the 2 hour and 30 min mark of most movies, or tie each scene together in a way that works.
it *COULD* work in theory but it will never get green lighted or even make it to a board meeting because frankly they care more about making money off of nostalgia than trying something new that could open the door for them to make more money

You are so right. Tell us a freaking story Disney! No character development no real conflict. It’s a bunch of garbage. Take notes from bioware.
"Omnipowerful without doing anything" Doesn't the Old Republic have those in spades? Honestly Rey has a better reason to be so powerful (Because she was chosen by the force to bring balance) than the Knight or Counsellor, whose abilities are hyped af right out of the gates.
LMao what a retarded comment.
That's how he presents himself his true form however is red skin, void black eyes
The Devil appears to you as what you really want the most to tempt you. Seeing as the man in white wanted nothing more than his father's approval, he finally got it but at the cost of his beloved brother's life, killed by his own hand.

That's probably why I'm about cry.
I hope we don't have to kill him
frostyguy1989 THAT is an amazing analysis!
***** Possibly, but he might also might be a massive threat to where Jedi and Sith have to work together to defeat Arcann.
frostyguy1989 So do you think Thexan, I believe that's what his name was, understands his brother?

He'll yeah especially the assault on koraban

At 0:39, he holds onto his brother, picking him up; showing his love for him. And then at 3:31 the same brother is letting him go, showing the personal bonds you must
shed and the pain you must endure to become powerful. This also signifies that his brother was morally "holding him back" like an anchor from power. And him letting him go, shows the first transition into power.

"A man can have anything, if he is willing to sacrifice."
Even though, he killed him unintentionally.
