I'm not sure how that soldier was able to rush Malgus twice while dragging his massive balls across the ground
His name is Jace Malcom, he and Satele shan in cinematic give existions to son which you can romance.
@@greenchilistudioz4537 Oh yea, Theron. The guy whom my DS f!Knight kicked off Oddessen whoops. Also, Malcom is dead in my DS Knight run lol

LMFAOOOO
A soldier taking on a Sith lord was, and still is, such a badass moment.
Indeed
The force is no match against sheer fucking will according to Jace👍 oh and also grenades 😎
Definitely makes me want to play my Vanguard!
Old Republic Troopers are still in my eyes far better than Clones
they will then married, right?
That fact that these soldiers who are non force sensitive can take on and kill some SITH is impressive beyond comparison
Or it shows how weak the average Sith was. Bane was right. They needed to cut down their numbers to become stronger.
The Jedi taskforce to Geonosis was reduced to only a handful after a head on engagement with just droids, so it's not that surprising I think
I mean the sith and jedi we usually see in movies/novels/videos are the top of the top, so the perception of their strength is pretty inflated. But the vast majority of lightsaber wielders aren't that much more powerful than a soldier.
@@gachilhan Hahah true. The movies focus on the NBA equivalent of Force Users. The Sith here and the Jedi on Geonosis are just playing a pick-up game at their local YMCA.
Better than clone troopers
1:16 I still admire that shoulder throw the republic soldier does to the sith apprentice, they really were ready to go hand to hand with them without hesitation
they were peasants with lightsabers lol
@@babalarassrah indeed
@@babalarassrah I remember when this trailer was first released, it annoyed the crap out of me that a regular dude was knocking over SITH LORDS like bowling pins.
It had to be explained to me that Sith in the Old Empire were just goons with lightsabers. Few were nearly as powerful as the Sith in the PT and OT like Maul, Dooku, Vader and Palpatine.
@@nahor88 I see it as since Sith were so much more common, the Republic had their units trained in combating them. Know your enemy.
Me too. I train in brazilian jiu-jitsu and seeing that shoulder toss being executed so well made me smirk
Even now years after the first of these trailers were released, I’m still so amazed by how stunning they truly are.
Too bad the game couldn't live to the hype
@@NDionneG005 No game could ever live up to the hype that were these trailers. Impossible. Unless they've been hiding an amazing open world game for the past 10 years.
It was still a good game with an interesting storyline (actually, multiple interesting storylines if you went through and played the different classes on both sides).
@@NDionneG005 The game was good, but then the original devs left and the following expansions just ruined the game. They should have continued individual class stories and not one shared one...
Bruh honestly I always thought when I got older that the movies would be like that but they aren’t 💀
Man these trailers are just so gorgeous. They need to really make a animated Star Wars movie in this style.
Agreed.
Not a movie. A series. There is way too much story to cram it all into 2 hours.
@@Mediados They meant an animated Star Wars film with similar artstyle or graphics, not The Old Republic film/series.
If the prequal had been animated like clone wars or this game with same cast it be would have been likeable
It wouldn't be an animated series more like a cgi series. Imo it's too high quality to still be considered an animation.
“While the sacrifices are heavy, we fight knowing that a single spark of courage can ignite the fires of hope and restore peace across the galaxy.” 4:20
That combined with the shot of flares lighting up Alderaan gives me the goosebumps. Reminds me of the ending in MW2 Whiskey Hotel. Showing those willing to fight and overcoming insurmountable odds.
Damn we watched the same video bro???
Big Andor energy
That is what they tell the canon (or light saber) fodder
RICK LONG CANBERRA NERDS IBC ! SALUTES YOU !
These soldiers are the pinnacle of fearless being able to take on and even kill trained Sith warriors. These Old Republic trailers are so awesome.
They make clone commandos look like Battle Droids.
I want to see how tough were the ancient mandalorians
FYI the clone army that Palpatine created was secretly coded to take on and kill even the Jedi.
@@NoName-qd6vp then again, the Jedi of Old Republic kinda feel tougher than Clone Wars Era Jedi
@@azeroth2994 They were much more powerful on average, yes. Though, it makes it more than a little scary when you're told in Knights of the Old Republic II that even the strongest of the Jedi and Sith of the Old Republic era were still "as children playing with toys compared to the prowess of the old masters." XD
This was the first cinematic I ever saw. Singlehandedly reinvigorated my love of Star Wars.
same dude
2nd Trailer btw These Soldiers are all Human cause back then they didnt use Clones they use Humans to fire in Wars
Hey s ok what is the chronology of these trailers; is it sith return, hope, then deceived where the Jedi temple burns. Or is it return, deceived, and last my hope?
@@thedev.student1424 sith return, hope, then deceived. You can tell by looking at Malgus. In sith return he was looking ok. In hope, his skin became more abnormal due to the dark side and in Deceived, he has a respirator because of the incident from Hope.
if you've been a fan long enough you are prepared for the ups and downs of the franchise. It's been going that since Empire Strikes Back.
Jace Malcolm, the man who bullrushed a Sith lord in an attempt to shiv him. What a goddamn chad.
and then did it again with a thermal detonator
3:28 I never noticed that Malgus is shocked by Satele's display of tutaminis. Even over a decade later and these cinematics still amaze and surprise me.
His face literally said, "Why won't this bitch die?!?!?!"
Oh shit yea, like he fully expected to run her through the face and actually looks shocked. Might be why later when he sacks the Temple he runs Master Zallow through the abdomen rather than the face.
Where is shock there? For real i see mostly anger.
@iverntheboneless9583 His eyes quickly widen when Satele catches his blade. It doesn't last long before it becomes anger, but shock is there.
@@kirby7294 Though so and i like such details but this doesnt convince me. I mean it literally last second but main point is quality. Anyway those trailers were epic.
This is the Star Wars we deserve in 2024. Not whatever Disney has been crapping out.
As hard as they shit on Star Wars, it's not enough to ruin how good these old stories are. Timeless.
We need an show of the old republic and revan
Oh get over it.
Get over it
@@FrostyGerardo-kr7xs No. A movie trilogy.
What's great about this cinematic is that it shows how badass it is to be both a force user and a non-force user
1:00 still the single most badass start to a battle.
I dont care that they had the high ground and would have had a better chance fighting from there. That war cry and the music combined, with their jumping into battle. Still sends chills down my spine.
Dont forget the: WE MUST FIGHT FOR VICTORY OR DEATH! FOR THE REPUBLIC!!!
I wish the sequels were half as good as these cinematics
This is the grit that the recent star wars properties are missing, this is dirty and just overall not so “clean” whereas the new generation of star wars just looks way to shiny and clean for me
That's Star Wars.
Dumb stuff.
@@brianm1907 You have lost your free speech rights
What has always MESMERIZED me, is the look in Satele's eyes: it's not rage for vengeance, it's not passion, it's not even determination- sheer, cold, not-from-concentrate focus. It's like Malgus, even though he killed her master, sacked the republic and would go on to sack the jedi temple of corusant- in her eyes; this is just another sith who is about to get what's coming: Justice. The way she moves; deliberate, calculated, would almost be capable of being described as monotonous if not for the sheer awe-inspiring acrobatics and the fucking duel.
Those are the only emotions a Jedi should feel. Her calculating and cold demeanor got her the victory.
@@restitutororbis964 nope, she being brokenly overpower is what got her the victory, she literally had to use a Kamehameha to finish Malgus that overpowered her with strength and skill
@@icarovdl What makes you say that Satele is overpowered compared to Malgus? Because she won the fight?
@@tTaseric because she can literally make a Kamehameha of force
@@icarovdl The ability itself isn't too advanced, a lot of Sith and Jedi of the time can do similar things. Satele is just really strong in the light side of the force, so hers is more powerful than most. It makes sense if you actually play the game and learn Satele's lore.
3:40 Malgus’ arrogant look of superiority as he wrestles the commando turning into a comical “woa wazzat” look is priceless. Didn’t even notice it until it started beeping 😂
the fact that jace malcom was able to hold off malgus and push him back is impressive
*Fun fact:* During the "Old Republic MMO" Era, there was in Alderaan a bloody Civil War between the noble families House Organa (backed by the Republic) and House Thul (backed by the Sith Empire). Thousands of years later, after the destruction of the planet by Tarkin, both families would finally reconcile through the friendship formed between the Solo children (heirs to House Organa) and Raynar Thul (heir to House Thul) during their shared Jedi training at Luke's Academy
what a legendary name you have
Raynar Thul? Interesting name…
@@nickter745thebold8 Raynar Thul is actually a very important (and underrated) character in the Star Wars Lore. He was basically the main antagonist in the "Dark Nest" Trilogy and also had a key role during the battle against Abeloth, not mentioning he was one of the main protagonists of the "Young Jedi Knights" book series.
This sounds like the kind of fanfic-esque, tacked on crap that I don't miss from the pre-Legends days.
@@OptimusMaximusNero he is my favourite character from the Young Jedi Knights series. I think this series was written more for children than YA, but it rise some serious and important problems, and Raynar's ark is the best.
Satele stopping the lightsaber with the force will always be one of the most badass moments to me, these trailers pretty much solidified her as one of my favourite star wars characters. I remember seeing these trailers before the game released and getting so hyped for it.
The ability is called Tutaminis. It is the same Yoda uses in PT to absorb force lightning against Dooku and Sidious. Satele here is clearly far more proficient in the ability, though. Her mastery of it is almost unheard of, as you can see. Even Malgus was like "What the actual fuck is this?"
@@afifmorningstar145 First, I was talking about her ability in Tutaminis specifically.
Second, I meant unheard of in that era.
No one was as proficient in Tutaminis as her in the Sith War era.
Ofcourse Abeloth and Grand Master Luke shit on her really bad, but that was not my point.
Also Father, Son and Daughter are all manifestations of the force, so you cannot really compare them to any mortal.
And dark dimension Vader isn't even canon in legends, but to humour you, he wasn't alive back then either, so out of the question also.
@@afifmorningstar145 I've never seen him perform Tutaminis
@@afifmorningstar145 He's also over a thousand years old and has fed on the lives of thousands of Sith Lords he tricked into a ritual in order to become as powerful as he is. Even as he is, she might be able to take him since the Hero of Tython got him lol

@FutaCatto I may be wrong but I think Valkorion strengthened the player characters bond to the force in KOTFE. However in terms of the non force sensitive characters I agree it's stupid. And the lore does get worse with each expansion.

These guys weren't Sith, they were acolytes or something like that, they were treated like soldiers who had connection with the force. If they had managed to survive long enough, they would have been trained to become a full-fledged sith for their merits. Therefore, the soldiers of the republic were able to engage in a fight with them and win it. Because he was just a guy sensitivity to force, he was on the side of the Sith faction, so he was given a lightsabre in his hand and was told to fight.

There’s more story telling and character development in these cinematics than in all the sequel series
No there isn't.
Don't get me wrong; these trailers are absolutely stellar short action films, but that's all they are.
@@EightThreeEight you're not fun at parties, are you?
@@marcosiddi6049 You misunderstand. I'm not criticising these shorts at all; they're absolutely stellar.
My point is that what makes a great short film is not the same as what makes a great cinematic trilogy.
That's because the sequels don't tell a coherent story. Their attempts to do so we're marred by infighting, constant changing of the production team, corporate and political agenda. Studios aren't interested in telling good stories that follow lore or any kind of consistency anymore, movies are just a means to an end, littered with shameless nostalgia cash grabs
@@jakeg3733 You have no idea how badly I wish you were wrong here. But unfortunately, you’re right. Movies are just a way to push political agendas nowadays, there’s no love for the art anymore, it’s all politics. And it’s so sad what it does to franchises like Star Wars. Polarization of “you either hate this or you’re out” and whatnot. I’ve started to lose interest in movies as a whole because of it.
That battle cry the troopers made as they attacked was incredible. Truly shows how badass troopers are.

I live this one so much. This was the one that convinced me to play commando as my first character.
That's why this trailer is so great. In any Star Wars film lightsabers are going to take the spotlight but somehow in this one the commando is just the coolest character because he doesn't have a lightsaber and doesn't have the force
Same here
Sounds off Havoc!
Dude you too? This was the first trailer I ever watched back when they were releasing them, I never touched Jedi for the following four years lol
I remember when I first watched this back when it came out and I saw the troopers give the Sith hell and then my guy Jace charge Malgus and even withstand lightning this shows what starters really is battle wise. Seeing Satele appear was really amazing as well especially with how well she handle Malgus even though she lost her blade seeing her wreck Malgus with the force was worth it.
I remember watching with a friend and we both freaked out when she catches the lightsaber in her palm. After rewinding it like 7 times we noticed the subtle animation of Malagus' suprise too. Such a good time to be a SW fan back then
Just came back here from The Acolyte trailer to remember that Star Wars used to hype me up
I wonder if they'll make a special 10th anniversary cinematic trailer? Would be pretty cool 🤔
They really need to, they have the only SWtor MMO right now and a lot of Star Wars content on the way!
I'd rather they use that budget to refine the visuals (given the engine limitations)

Satele Shan is damn powerful... she needs more recognition!!!
Satele was an annoying preacher back in vanilla SWTOR. I hated her so much with my JK. They fixed her a lot in the next expansions leading to LotS
Her being the granddaughter of Revan is what helped that. I believe he was stronger than her though
The fact that my man Malgus had a literal mountain dropped on him and essentially walked it off only needing a respirator after is insane
It’s insane that we have to watch these just so we can maintain our faith end love in Star Wars
10 years later these are still some of the best cinematic trailers from any game I have played. I would love to see a Disney+ cartoon following the exploits of these characters. As a side note, I just reactivated my subscription after not playing since just after Knight's of the Fallen Empire came out. It was due to the upcoming expansion and it is the 10th anniversary. I have had the game since it was up pre-order and got the Darth Malgus statue. I really like what they have done with the game.
And let Disney screw that up too ? I think not , they've done enough damage to the series with the garbage they shat out
@@varenshan7731 that's what I was thinking. I'd love more old republic era content, but like hell do I want Disney screwing up the old republic. They can keep their garbage sequel trilogy. I'll enjoy my old republic era mmo with mildly poor graphics, amazing characters, and even greater stories.

These are all just so amazing. I will never understand why they haven't made a series like this. I'd watch it start to finish again and again.
When a single trailer has more Star Wars in it than a whole sequel trilogy
I get the feeling Malgus was more impressed toward Jace than annoyed. That look in his eyes when he looked over toward him looked like that of respect.

Story Time:
This game will always have a very special spot in my heart (no pun intended). I got my subscription in 2014 after I had heart surgery. I needed something to occupy myself, and take away some of the pain, while I was recouping. I remember having to place the pillows on my chair just right in order to feel comfortable and not experience more pain. But once I was playing, I forgot all about the pain (or maybe it was the oxycodone lol). But this game really was the thing that got me through a very hard time in my life. I remember first seeing someones custom armor on Drumond Kas, and just falling completely in love with everything about the game. It was Star Wars how I always imagined it. Thanks SWTOR.
Sweet!

Here in 2024. To this day, i still get pumped when they shout "FOR THE REPUBLIC" and all the soldiers shout as they charge into battle.
This was the announcement trailer for the Republic Trooper class. I still remember this being what sold a lot of my old guildies on the Republic Trooper class.
Actually kind of incredible that both Satele and Malgus had failed romantic relationships. One is the Jedi Grand Master, the other one of the most powerful Sith Lords of the time, yet they both ended their relationships over perceived "threats" and "weaknesses" the relationship brought.

This is so much better than anything in the Sequel Trilogy.
This is definitely the most hopeful out of all the SWTOR cinematic trailers, especially since the use of "Anakin's Dark Deeds" at the end felt different when comparing it to how it was used at the end of the SWTOR "Deceived" cinematic trailer.

The trailer finally shows what they're doing right now with the game. At first, Malcom used trooper commando combat style to fight trash mobs, then he switched to operative concealment to fight Malgus. Same as Satele, went from consular shadow to kill trash mobs then fight Malgus, to finish as telekinetic sage. Ah, and at the end Malcom switches to trooper vanguard lol.

There is something to be said for bringing the front back to these core worlds to give it more impact. Just have 2 landing zones on the planetary travel map, Alderaan and Alderaan Front (which only becomes visible and unlocked after the appropriate story step). The two flashpoints at the start of the Revan story felt brutal, trashing Korriban and Tython so that both Sith and Jedi see their own origin worlds in ruins. Yeah, new planets provide great flavor for storytelling, but it feels like flitting from place to place for glimpses while we've been skirting around the main issue.
I was more invested in a 2 minute cinematic than all of the acolyte.
2:32 Imagine if Rey was like this in the new star wars movies, or at least built up to be like this
That trooper hitting a shoulder throw on a Sith confirms judo works in the Star Wars universe

I remember ripping a low-res copy of the three cinematics and putting it on my Nokia N73 waaaay back so I can watch it over and over again. Seeing this in hi-res brings me so much joy. Wow. Just wow.
(Also, this is definitely a thousand times better than what we got with the sequel trilogy.)
Five and a half minute trailer, still better than any Star Wars TV series Disney has made.
И даже спустя 10 лет, да еще и в 4к этот трейлер выглядит лучше, чем 7-9 эпизоды!
I cant help but feel like there might be a new trailer coming after they re-uploaded the old ones.
Satele Shan is one of the most powerful Jedi ever. Unfortunately (and sadly) underrated too.
There are not many in the whole Star Wars history who can stop a laser blade with bare hands.
It's just an application of Tutaminis (energy absorption), Yoda and Vader perform the same technique in the films.
The fact that these trailers exist yet Disney still made the abominations that they did should be a crime against humanity
I would pay 10,000k to see a full length film of this story with this amazing animation. Please start A Kickstarter asap! Love this!
I would love a complete next gen remake of this game or at least similar
Great job, as always! Long has this cutscene been my absolute favorite swtor sequence. The 4k only makes it better!
Satille Shan is what Rey Should/Could have been in a very different triology. Using Force Push in a devasting way while still being defeatable and powerful.
The dual of the fates script looked pretty cool with Rey having a double bladed saber
The fact these guys were able to go hand to hand combat with a lightsaber wielder was simply amazing
Obi Wan telling Anakin how shameful it is to lose a lightsaber, yet this Jedi Grandmaster lost two lightsabers in Korriban and Alderaan
Still, strung together, these cinematics are one of the greatest Star Wars experiences!
Seeing a regular soldier charge a sith fearlessly was chilling
No words spoken( other than the narrator) and you felt every bit of this scene .
Man any time I see a non-force user go up against one, sith especially, it gives me chills.
I picked a good day to relive some nostalgic memories of the good ol' days...
2:47 She's such a badass Jedi! I wish we got more epic Jedi scenes like this in live action shows or movies!
The cinematography and presentation is off the charts. So well directed. Fight was awesome!
This is one of the best traliers if all time from my point of view, and especially when the soldier runned in front of malgus with a granade, i'm still amazed how that soldier can walk with that giant balls he have.
Absolutely beautiful. I am astounded how these trailers are still just as engaging as they were, when we first saw them.
I really love this trailer. It show's how bravely the Republic forces fight again'st almost overwhelming odds. I also like that not all of the force users are actually amazing. It really brings to light just how powerful Darth Malgus is. He beat Sateele in a 1v1 before, almost killing her if it weren't for her master. Here he beats her again, although I love the look of sheer disbelief on his face when she Force Absorbs his lightsaber blade.
Also, that Force Push is the most powerful instance of it ever shown and I'm loving it. You really get to see what a very light side attuned Jedi can do in this fight and it's wonderful.
But so many good moments. From the rocket launcher blast scarring Malgus, to Jace tanking that Force Lightning...man if they made the new movies like this...
Sorry to have to correct you. Satele Shan beat Malgus here.
@@lodjurlynx9939 She was losing, actually. Only because of force absorb did she survive. She was getting her ass handed by Malgus, then Jace came to tackle malgus off and knocked him back, giving satele the chance to finish him off.
@@givemeanameiwillhate9525 She lost this battle the moment her saber got smashed.
My man yeeted 2 Sith acolytes to charge at a Sith Lord with a knife. Balls of vibranium.
3:49 I think I know where Disney got its inspiration for the new Kenobi x Vader fight xD
But it wasn't nearly as epic!
