- I’m haout of lures for lure fishing and that's all the fish are biting! What do I do!? Make my own of course! Today, I will be making a homemade lure to go jigging on the surf with a CHIP BAG! It’s super simple to do and I’ll be showing you how. All we need is that little bit of flash and we’ve got a lure that fish can’t stop biting!
This week, I am camping at Cape Lookout. The fish only seem to want to bite lures this week, but all of mine have been bitten off by toothy predators and we still need fish! I made a homemade one so I can still catch fish with Erin, my dad, and my mom. What an awesome day.

My father used to use the foil from a cigarette pack on a hook with a weight in the 1920's and 30's to catch big blues in the surf! Thanks for making his stories come to life!
Yeah on party boats for laughs we would hook pieces of bloody fishing rag and catch blues too..
Not the brightest fish.
it really works
nice...back then times were tough I'm sure, it's ingenuity like your Dad's surely helped feed the family & friends. Plus look at the fun it can give today too!
@@rkw221 True but the impression I got from that story was how many more fish there were in those days and how vicious packs of marauding bluefish are. Anything that flashed in front of them was annihilated! Thanks for your share
My Dad taught me how to fish when I was 6yrs old....He passed when I was 17....It's been a connection passion ever since...I will be 50 in September....great content! Tight Lines!
These videos are the best. They’re creative and different. Can’t be afraid to look stupid.
I went to an Outward Bound school in the very early '70s. Hurricane Island in Maine. We had a spool of line and some hooks. We would cut a strip out of a tin can and just fold it over the shank of the hook. Trolling it over the stern, we caught enough mackeral to feed 14 people very well one day. It was a very crude spoon lure but it worked great.
Hey Skipper. Enjoying the videos over here on the west coast. It would be helpful if you gave a brief overview of the setups you use in your videos. Keep making them I’ll keep watching them.
Watching here from Manila, Philippines. Really love your videos about fishing, i learned a lot by just watching ur fishing adventure. A family that fish together stays together ❤❤❤
At first I was like, wow, mom is impressed with his lures? And then she reached down for a sunchip. 💀
Amazing video guys nice job love to see pops out there fishing hopefully we can also see Erin in action I think we’re do for a catch & cook at the beach so excited for the next one really appreciate the videos thanks for all the hard work you both put into thanks 🙏🤗👏🏽👍🏽
Yes i used to make that too before from a chip packet wrapper. It works good. Have a nice fishing day.
The posh accomodations really sold the "survival" aspect!😉
keep the great videos coming, I really enjoy.!!!
Always fun to watch. Favorite You Tuber . Shout out to Erin 😍
That was entertaining! Your getting me Pumped for my upcoming florida trip!
Hey Skipper sells pre-made Rigs you can purchase on line. They even come with fancy Pink and Orange floaters 🤪
Mom said "She don't wanna break the rod"......... That's OG Status!
You guys are a team awesome!!
Yes go for it
Ingenuity at its best ! Good job.
I love your videos !! I am from Argentina, I have tried your fishing techniques here and they have not worked so well for me .. I think it is due to the sea, here the beaches are shallow .. greetings and good fishing !!
That’s an awesome improvised lure
You think so creatively and your different kind of lure will help me.Maybe I can try it in freshwater.
I like to get a break down of your entire setup. Great video.
Hi Skipper another great great video nice and content and useful information stay safe out there bro
Very cool lure 😎!
Great tip video
Nice it resembles a Clark Spoon for trolling but it works just as good for casting with that extra weight 🎉
I am from trinidad 🇹🇹 and I really love your video
Hello, I did not know this trick.
What is good is learning new effective techniques.
Thank you
Hello Sir, I find the Heyskipper chain to be excellent and I am not paying to say it.
The practice of surf-fishing is well highlighted my technique that I like.
I learn a lot from watching videos more than from commercial books.
Afterwards, I am against plastic. I no longer use pearls or floats I remain very simple on my assemblies.
On the video it's only to show that with a packet of crisps you can take fish.
If you watch the video carefully, he changes the assembly and removes the end of the bag on the hook.
Great bro.. i really like your video. Thats inspired me to improve my fishing channel, greeting from indonesia
Nice!!
"Na'mean" comment from your dad cracked me up. Gangsta!
Love that Stella drag scream
that is amazing....i like it ..sir
Brendon, Erin, Mr & Mrs Mike rule !!!!!
Hey Skipper and Fam !! Merry Christmas !!
I've been watching you all year learning a lot. I did send an email awhile ago asking some questions about salted bait options. Was hoping for a reply!
Fantastique j'apprends beaucoup avec vos vidéos bonne continuation
haha epic great video
I've been using your squid for freshwater lake fishing here in Illinois.. works friggin amazing!!
What have you been catching?
Same like my country we always use that kind of lure.. simple. but very good stuff for fishing..let's try guys
Very nice
Sabiki rattler will be the best for that spot.. Or even condom.. Leader-floater-sabiki/condom on a small hook. Must try 👌👌
9:08 It's so wholesome lmao.
Subscribe done. You're an inspiration.
Nice catch I thought it was a batray or stingray like the spot 2bad ur in the east coast but fun times. Fish 4salmon
Amazing broooooo 👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🇮🇩
Your has good ideas
Cool we usually Used that trick here in our country, usually we used a old ballon To look like a micro squid
Great video.
In wound have never thought to use a chip bag as bait.
That's a cool idea. Mybe instead of just throwing out the lure with bait try throwing it out by itself with a egg sinker. Tied to a barrel swivel though main line. And have a long leader tied to your lure. This would be more finesse fishing and would be based on skill alone. No bait and using your rod tip and reel speed. Make the egg sink and quickly reel it in changing the speed. Keep up the great content my bradah🤙
Thats crazy, you are on a island with a giant bbq set up, filming a fishing channel and have no lures! great imagination with that chip bag
Not sure how it would react to the surf but maybe look at a water bobber and long line leader. Will keep your bait higher in the water column
Cool
Dude lol starving fam that lures not the only bait used in this video !!! LOL luv ya man… long time viewer.
Those are better than McDonald's straw lures! Great video!
Thanks for showing me this because now I have a excuse to eat chips
Brendan....get a roll of the stretchy spyderthread for winding and attaching bait......its super handy and would have attached the mylar very quickly
It's self adhering too and gives good tension without knots......it isn't very tooth durable however......I attach whole eulacons with it to my line for sturgeon
Dental floss is cheaper JS 🤷🏻♂️ lol 😁
@@donniedickerson8077 but it doesn't add tension as you wind it and self adheres.....a roll is like 3or 4 bucks and lasts me years
@@bradfarrahgerwing154 crazy as it sounds ,I have and still keep a bag of dollar store Rubber Bands For some situations they work pretty good , there's like 150 in a bag for $1 , I use em on egg sinkers too thread em thru with your line it makes a adjustable No slip sinker out of a Egg sinker, lol the things fishermen and Ladies can come up with sometimes is funny BUT effective lol ,, Tight Lines To Ya
“Can use a tentacle, or you can use the mantle”
*cuts into shape of tentacle*
:p
I love the family 👪❤thing . Would loved to have that with my father and mother. To cool .
Your parents are OG dude
Kodak moment? I haven't heard that expression in about 25 years :-)
I love freshwater fishing and can you upload a video in freshwater once.
When I was at the beach earlier this fall I could see sand fleas running along the bottom a couple of feet from the water's edge. The sinker probably looks just like them when it slides along the sand.
I guessed stingray on the strong fish.
3:50 you got caught. I saw that lure lol
haha on the tackle box to the right
I make homemade flys doing this trick works great for jacks
With the way the water looked, I wish you had a kayak!
Lol I just had serious Deja Vu
You coming out the surf, screaming
And saying it took my lure it took my sinker it took everything I need to Retie! Lol
I love your beach camping videos. Been interested in doing trips like this with my family. Where do you find.areas you can camp and fish like this?
OBX,NC. Portsmouth Island and Core Banks have ferry services to take you to the islands
It's a simple sabiki tie,,,,,,,,😎
That was awesome! Should not have thrown out my Doritos bag
Your mother is too strong she can break the rode ooo😂😂😂
your wife is hilarious 😂.
👌👍
in australia what you call blue fish we call them tailor
Dude you should try it without bait the first few casts
Any fly fisherman with can do the same. I would use a whip knot and a little clear nail polish. But You're the Korean Macgyver.
Hey skipper! You have any old reel for sales!?
What watch are you wearing Looks like a Tag Professional 1000
What is the best Bait to get in Wilmington North Carolina for salt water fishing
My question is where in your fishing line do you play your rolling snap. So you can change different Books and Lewis so you can catch different fish? Thx you
huh?
no more wasting foil!! lol
So this is neat, however I worry about it adding trash to the ocean. I know him and his family are really good about respecting the ocean and fish,. But this isn't going to be on my to do list
I hope your family is safe out of that heracan .
Have you ever used a Penn rod before? I know you didn't have a good time with the reels.👍😎
Bluefish are famous for biting anything flashy! Including jewelry on your person
What is the best allround rod?
You could have shared the bag of Doritos to save your family from starvation though ;)
I saw a spoon lure on the table
Primero! FIRST!!!
Man the waters over there are nothing like Australia's, we cant catch fish off the beach like that. IM SO JELOUSE ID MOVE JUST TO FISH EVERY DAY!!!
500like.... thats me
is good, in a survival situation but BETTER NOT FOR THE POLLUTION is LITTERING AND FISH WILL CHOKE LIKE THE ONE BITE YOU. great video. but not for a very day lur.
Y segundo! (Second)
I’ve salted my squid my shrimp and my muscles do I still have to put them in the freezer?
Discovery channel: "scientists have found plastic in the digestive system of shrimp all across the world in the deepest oceans. how can we stop it?"
Skipper: "hey fish eat this plastic"
Love the idea def gonna try it... but remote island with tire tracks? Kinda sus...
they sleep in their truck
11:30 is that a lizard fish? Must be 🤔🤔🤔
Blue fish are taylor
Love your Channel my 10 year old son also loves watching you fish. Any tips for fishing in Dec in 🇨🇦 weather? Yup cold and raining.
First and foremost I'm a huge fan of your content I've watched so many of your videos and have learned so much but with that being said I would have liked to see this video with out the squid bites I believe they were attracted to the sent of the squid rather than the lure itself would be great to see if the lure worked by itself in out words
