Shot out to those who payed close attention to some videos and already know it's an S10 EV, not an EV1, if it was an EV1, Jared would be in BIG troubles with GM and we all know Jared is not that dumb. 🤣
There is one out there privately owned, I know levels of offers made, I don’t have those pockets….
Are they still salty today? Man... GM seriously screwed the pooch with that exercise. Not only did they shot themselves in the foot, but they basically put a hater-label on their own foreheads. The CEO and BoD were drinking some stupid water or something. Even Exxon (the crimes against humanity dudes) knew back in the day which way things were going to go and had EV feelers on the markets to buy electric assets.
Happy birthday, Jared. Hope ya get to feeling better.
Please say you got an EV1. I love them. GM was supposed to destroy all of them, but some stubborn people liked them too much.
my $ is on a 1997 Chevrolet S10 EV...
same controller as the EV1 but much nicer ride ;-)@@awagentx
Close, but in a more "pick-up" form 😉
he has revealed multiple times in the past that it's an electric S10 not an EV1
Our health and safety guy drove around in a few year old rubicon on completely bald tires. Yeah, thats the kinda health and safety we need at work 😬
Jared's got himself a GM EV1
How can you tell?
100% an EV1
my $ is on a 1997 Chevrolet S10 EV
I also think it's an EV1
Totally agree
That hint at the end!!!! My engineering senior project was building a hybrid mini formula 1 racecar. In the same shop was an EV1 on a lift. We weren't allowed to bring it down...
Happy belated birthday Jared. Thank you for bringing us awesome vids
EV, historically significant, lead acid batteries. 99% chance it's an EV1...
Also, I've seen enough Rich Rebuilds videos to know that a kitchen knife is the proper tool to disassemble a Tesla battery.
Same tech as the EV1 but not an EV1
S-10 EV, not EV-1
Thanks Jared, always brightens my day to see you pop up in my feed! Dave J
Another great episode to show why I love your vids. The content is simply electrifying! Get all charged up when notification for your channel!
nice , we will learn some new stuff.....it was long since the last projetc. I enjoy your videos. Thank you Jared. ...with love from France
Happy Birthday Jerod. Mine was on the 10th! I know what you have. A lot of people don't know the same driveline used in the EV1 (which all but 3 were crushed), was also used in a limited number of S10 Pick-ups. I worked at a GM dealership in those days, and had a chance to see a few EV1s as well as S10 EVs at the GM training center in Burbank, CA. Although I looked, I could not find one for sale when I actually had money, LOL!
It would be the Cavalier electric that JR Go had? Replace the lead acid with Lithium?
Reminds me of Jay Leno's steam cars. I think he converted them to natural gas burners instead of wood or coal or whatever. Functions almost identically but much more convenient and safe.
Happy Birthday Jared hope you feel better soon..
Happy birthday! Interested to see what you do with these, but please be safe. We kind of like you and want to see more! I don't understand why ordering insulared linesman gloves wasn't one of the first things to do months ago after getting the Tesla. No reason to wait until last minute and then not find any.
It has been awhile but I definitely recognize that S10 ev engine bay! I remember my service advisor sell an “engine” oil change package on one of those🤦🏻♂️
teaser looks like an under hood picture of an EV S10 I found online. The EV1 doesn't seem to have that round reservoir to the left but the s10 does. That would be really cool!
I was thinking EV1or S-10. Same drive unit
I have a pair of electricians gloves if ya want 'em Jared.
rated for 10,000 volts, heavy rubber , size 10 - i got big mitts too. they came with some leather gloves too.
Happy 40th bro! From Australia.
Hope you have fun with your GM EV1!
Happy Birthday Jared! Best of luck with the S10!
I hope you had a awesome Birthday Jared! I've been following you for a long time! Keep up the good content bro!!!
Assuming the airbags went off, the pack is already split in two with the pyro fuse. The individual modules are 24v.
Happy Birthday Jared! Looking forward to the new project!
Wait, Don't you have an S10 EV truck? same as the EV1 but in a truck version?
Happy Belated Birthday Jared, I am a fan, love your videos, Be careful with those batteries, stay healthy and I'll finish watching your Tesla be dissected.
Happy 4oth birthday Jared!!🎂🎂Great video on removing a Tesla battery. I always wanted to see what they looked like out of the vehicle. BTW my 4Runner is finished and running great. Now I have grown attached to it and probably won't sell it.🙄
I remember when I saw this on his channel, and then COMPLETELY forgot it! Glad to have you back and learning'
Happy Birthday Jared. Get feeling better soon. Glad to see you survived the Tesla teardown. Just wondering if you bought a Metro derivative? Thanks for all your content and we'll see you next time.
s10 ev
Happy belated birthday! My brother's was the 12th. That's a nice off-grid battery setup. A few solar panels and a charge controller and you're nearly there.
Happy birthday Jared! Wish you the best! Thanks for all you do!
Amazing work Jared!
Omg, that is a ev1 part, its the thing under the hood. I dont know what it is but its definitely a ev1, im freaking out this is cool af.
Happy Birthday from Western Australia.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Happy Birthday Jared!!!
Happy birthday buddy..The lengths and effort you put into this channel and filming is evident. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.
So nice of you
Jared, my latest automotive adventure included towing a '91 Celica Alltrac back from KY. It pairs very well with my '97 Dodge Viper GTS.
Happy Birthday mate, take care and keep the good work coming.
Assuming he got an OG chevy S10 ev, one of those with tesla modules would make for an absolutely top notch daily truck
Always look forward to new videos. Any chance we’re going to find out what you’re gonna do with the Porsche?
Happy Belated Birthday Jared, also...did you get a Gen 1 Volt? Or the old Geo EV?
Happy Birthday from the UK keep up the good work
Salute on another rotation around the 🌞, Paging Rich Rebuilds...
Watching you struggle with the metal cover on the battery i had an idea. Next time treat it like a sardine can. Use a long piece of square tubing as the “key” and wind it back.
Happy Bornday Jared, Enjoy Good Sir!! I didn't know about the EV1 or the S10 EV...Thank for the info everyone.
Putting a modern battery pack in an old EV that uses Lead Acid or early Nickel Metal will give a modest performance boost though you would not think it at first. With the Lithium pack you will negate most of the voltage sag that would have been observed with the older battery tech. (Easy way to test this at home is to put a modern 2-cell LiPo battery in an old RC car)
Should also get better volumetric and gravimetric density so more battery for the same space and weight would expect the space to be the limiting factor but depend on how tight the space was for the old pack
Kudos to Editor Dwayne for the clip of Beaker riding the lightning! Hilarious!
Happy Birthday Jared!
Happy birthday man cant wait to see the ev1 build
Always a great day when my man man Jared posts a new banger! Keep up the awesome work!
🎉😊 glad you didn't get hurt taking that battery cover off.
I think the performance motor needs to go in the collector car so that it can become a second burnout car. I feel like an electric car with plenty of power would do an amazing burn out with having less issues with overheating and probably some pretty high wheel speed.
🎉Happy Birthday Jared🎉
Happy birthday sir! Hope you feel better soon.
Happy Birthday, Jared!
Happy Birthday, and OMG Jared got an EV1.... Would of Harvested the Ludicrous Drive modules any way but I can understand when your sick and You got the main thing you were after.
Snap on gloves are shock resistant.
There was an EV1 at The Tellus museum in north Georgia (presumably near Jared) when I visited years ago. I hope you have one.
Forty? You are just getting started! Now you take the rep you built up and go where you want to go. I have faith and lots of pop corn! Happy Birthday, J.P.!
It's the GM EV S10 Pickup Truck, not the EV1. They made around 500 of them and 60 were sold outright rather than leased. All of the EV1's were leased and then the majority were crushed once given back after the leases were up.
Looks like me when I get some piece of electronics that I want 2 or 3 parts from, when done I have the parts, and pile of what I don't need that I just give to someone else! Very cool. Ohh and happy belated birthday 🎂
Happy birthday Jared. You made quick work of that Tesla battery pack. Get well and keep rocking!!
Happy birthday Jared!
Happy belated birthday big dawg. Can't wait to see what you got cookin' next!
If you haven't junked the battery holder yet, go back and cut the internal brackets out so you can use them with your project. Much easier than making them from scratch.
Happy birthday jared! Cant wait to see the S10 ev!
I hate Teslas, with a passion but for some reason I'll still watch your Tesla content just because it should be different. OH! and Happy B-day Jared!
Happy birthday Jared!
My guess is one of those electric S10s GM made around the same time as the EV1. That would make a pretty cool project!
Happy Birthday Jared
Is Motortrend going to give you and Freddie a show? I think you need to do your show "Wrench Everyday" with some network backing and sponsors. David Freiburger might be able to help get it started.
Happy Birtday Jared and many more. God Bless you and your family
Hey Ho! A good project. As to the backwards bolts: its a factory foul up. The 'cure' is to cut the bolts, not drop the suspension, and put it in aright, And yes, I do own a non Tesla EV
Looks like an EV1 to me! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Jared, 🎁 You are the poster child for 'Don't try this at home."
I am looking forward to seeing this EV build take place.
Happy Birthday, Jared, hope ya feel better by now. Is it an EV1?
Whoa that's a lot of battery modules 😲
Happy birthday Jared 😁
Nice ev1. I thought gm recalled all of those.
happy belated hatching day jared! 🎂🎂in regards to that "project car" you have a plan for, didn't that dream get "crushed"? by the higher ups at GM back in the day? and how did you manage to get your hands one one! ---------> this is gonna be cool!!!! 😎😎👍👍
Happy birthday BIG GUY!!!!!!!!
Hi Jarid nice video 📹 and workmanship!!! Love the look of those parts !!!! The GM PRODUCT IS FOR A TRACKER OR METRO GEO IT YOUR PIZZA 🍕 GIADONOS HUTSA MOBILE
Happy birthday, Jared! And where the hell did you find an EV1?! I thought they crushed them all???
Happy 40th Jared, hope your gut got stable enough for you to enjoy it a bit. Now we all know what to do when we get a free Tesla:)
Happy Belated Birthday Jared
That GM electric car from the 70's? The Electrovette?
That would be a cool build
It's an EV1, going by the "GM Power Electronics System 110" and "Delco Propulsion Systems" labels
Its a S-10 EV not an EV1, that ball reservoir to the left denounces it all. You can check in the wikipedia page for the S-10 EV
So Jared you are resto modding the old electric car?
it sounds like it
Happy Birthday and i hope you feel better!
Also, is that a GM EV1‽
oscillating tool is good for removing the battery cover
rich rebuilds can give you alot of helpful info.
14:05 "Do stupid things the smart way" :D
Happy Birthday Jared!!!! Why do I have this feeling. Rich Rebuilds is screaming right now?
Happy birthday whenever this was filmed! I too just turned 40 this month.
My guess from the start was an EV1. That would be sweet!
Happy belated birthday Jared
Happy 40th Birthday Jered... Hope you are surrounded by those most special and close to you.
Happy 40th Birthday, @Jared! I'm not scrolling down before responsong so this is a legit guess with no peeks at other answers. Gotta be the GM EV-1 that was made famous in the documentary "Who Killed The Electric Car?" Hoping I'm right and if so, what a beautiful idea it is to bring one of those back to life with parts from its spiritual descendant! Not your regular content but I'd be geeked out to see it! I was under the impression they'd all been destroyed...
Happy birthday, Jared. all the best from ireland
My car shenanigans? I'm replacing my brake rotors and the screws that hold them on are siezed and stepped, so I tried extracting them... only for the bit to snap. Now I've got to try and drill into the bit AND the screw...
I'll tackle that in the morning...
Good luck getting them batteries into a Reva!
It's either an EV1 or the EV S10 they also did around the same time with the same guts.
gotta be an s10--you can't get an ev1
