How did you do it??? From spss, I go File > open and I cannot find the excel I had already saved!!! It's like the folder is empty. But I saved it twice!!!

yes exactly. There is no easy solution on this - SPSS syntax needed to take multiple choice responses in one column into one choice per column for SPSS. Many other issues not addressed here.
