I am currently driving a 2016 BMW 528i xDrive and I am strongly considering trading it in for a 2017 Audi A4 Premium Plus Quattro. After test driving the new A4 I was instantly hooked in by its aggressive acceleration and how powerful the 272lbs of torque feel as it pushes you back into the seat, every inch of the interior felt so solid and expensive and the virtual cockpit combined with the smooth HD 8inch center screen created a spaceship like atmosphere during my nighttime test drive. I felt 100% in control behind the wheel and very comfortable in the driver seat, i am 6'3 about 260lbs far from a small guy and i felt totally relaxed in both the driver and passenger seats however the back is a little tight but with the only guaranteed passenger being my girlfriend i dont see it being an issue. I am going to wait until the end of the summer towards the years end and make my purchase, around that time the new 2018 models will be rolling in and the price on the 2017 A4 decrease by about $9,000. I definitely recommend a test drive so you can see all the hype for yourselves!
I appreciate that unlike BMW, Mercedes has stuck with their roots and still make luxurious feeling vehicles. They haven't attempted to be something they're not. BMW can keep their bland 3 series, I'll take the Audi, but I respect Mercedes for sticking with what made them the brand they are today.
Mercedes is curvy looking... doesn't look aggressive like the sharp lines on the A4. It's still beautiful IMO.... but one thing I dislike is the REAR of the C300.
I tried both. Audi felt more sporty and quicker at times but the C300 felt just more comfortable, also feels fast and elegant, I got the Benz C300 4matic with premium luxury extras, like panoramic roof, premium sound system etc.
I have the E class and it’s not as fast as the Audi meaning it falls .5 secs short of 0-60 compared to Audi’s but who can notice lmao not a big difference when driving the cars separately but toe to toe yea the Audi will slowly and I means slowly walk away, doesn’t make the E class slow just not as quick as the Audi but the comfort and ride are magnificent I have the 2019 version with a 10 speed and it flys. Mercedes were meant for luxury and comfort like he said but still have speed to. Like who can noticed the .5 secs slower no one unless you take it to the drag strip. I have the premium 3 package= massage/dynamic seats. Self driving literally just like Tesla, pano Roof, 360 cameras. Full digital dash 2-12” inch screens. 4matic, dampening suspension, it’s got it all. If you want a quick Mercedes buy the c43,c53,c63 amg and it’s quick any Audi’s ass.

They aren't afraid to go against dopey journalists who think specs and g's are the highest priority. Making a comfy, quiet, seamless lux car these days seems like sacrilege. It isn't. Audi has to make its bandwidth further over to lux smooth. I test drove a base Audi Quattro A4 and it was a brittle drive. I will take a Mercedes - any day, everyday.

Not quite apples to apples with this review but I drove a 2013 S4 until I got into a CPO 2016 C450 with 1,000 miles on it. I put a lot of miles on my car so the unlimited mileage warranty on the MB was a tough to pass on. It's a great car but I miss the Audi. The intangibles are key differences. Audi wins on tranny, gear selector, steering wheel, quality of windshield wipers, trunk access, glove box access, and MMI - despite it being the older version. I'll likely go back to the S4 in 2018-2019. Oh, and the S4 was a much sportier drive, which I enjoyed.

Looked over the 3 series, A4 and C class last couple of weekends. Going in I had high expectations for both the C class and the 3 series. Was pretty disappointed. The Audi blew me away, those looking at purchasing a luxury family sedan I highly suggest you get behind the wheel of an A4 as it is much superior.
The C300’s interior looks way better than the A4. The C class exterior also looks similar to the S class. Aesthetics matter. The only Audi’s that look good to me are the A7, TT, and R8. Rest look meh.

The W205 has been dialed back to cater to comfort (as younger buyers looking for more sport is taken by the CLA) so the B9 A4 probably beats it in that respect. Sure are a lot of mad Mercedes owners here. Sorry, but I prefer the A4 too. It's better performing and feels more sporty and luxurious at the same time. To be fair, MB's interior design language does nothing for me.
you can add 360 camera and autonomous parking on the c class.. change its trim etc.. most c classes are under 50k... you can also upgrade leathers and add ventilated seats. also your not in a VW.
Both have 20000 dollars worth of optional equipment, is that not ridiculous? I like the presenter though, each sentence isn't a corny metaphor like with that other starving willy wonka looking fellow.
I looked at both, and even the Jaguar, and Alfa. I ended up getting a 2017 C300. I use the car to commute back and forth to work, I don't need all the crazy tech in the Audi. I am very happy with me car, it is very comfortable and quick, not fast, or firm, but that is what I wanted for this car. Lots of great cars in this segment, gotta do your research, then figure out what you really want from the car.
Marc Martine I agree. I test drove all the cars in this class and the Audi was fun to drive but the thoughtful comfort and safety features of the C300 are more important to me when it's time to grind out the daily commute to work.
Back where both come from, respectively Germany as well as their neighbors.. Audi is leading the market from far. The merc is loosing trust from ppl due to their collaboration with renault for engines. Plus, the quattro is hmm uhh.
He said the Mercedes felt "cheap" in certain areas. Um ok....im sure the VW jetta and passat parts in the A4 are worse...... the Audi looks dated and too much like a $20k VW
He's right. The Mercedes does have cheap areas. The Audi has close to none. My mother said the same when we went to look at the Mercedes GLC. However, that does not take much away from the experience. The Mercedes is still a lovely car to own and drive.
I am a 2017 A4 owner. Tested almost everything in this class. The interior packaging is the sole reason I chose this car. Backseat and trunk are very spacious. It really benefits from being based on a FWD platform. The interior materials are honestly its weakest link with the transmission a very close second. The interior of the c class is probably the best in it's class. From a driving dynamics basis. The Jag XE and ATS are best with the Q50 closest. The Q50 has the best backseat but the trunk suffers. Interior materials in the ATS are actually quite good if you can get past your brand bias but the backseat is very tight. As far as infotainment, I am partial to touchscreen and wish my A4 had it and I am not a fan of the tacked on display that would not pass for a bargain basement android tablet and should not be in a 50k car. BMW 3 was surprisingly not too fun to drive, Idrive and interior materials were probably best in class but the interior design is very dated. The BMW had probably the best refinement in engine/trans while the Jag/Q50 being the quickest, but the ATS was easily the funnest and most confidence inspiring. Overall I respectfully disagree with this review in many areas but am happy with A4 and would recommend it for anyone needing to put two car seats in the back and a double stroller in the trunk while still wanting a sporting ride
Tablet style display is the only way to safely do this in the US. It should be as high as possible and covering it would make the dash simply too high. Retractable displays are no longer legal in the US, Q7 is the last car with one.
+sic22l If it is no longer legal, why does the Q7 have it? Also, the Q7 isn't the only vehicle to have pop up displays, even other Audi models still have it. Stop making up bullshit.
TheSheepersGame ; only about 3000 miles in... no problems yet. However it being a dual clutch it is not very smooth and does take some getting used to. The is a bit of a clunky motion to it when first engaging drive that goes away and only comes during cold starts.
in europe audi is already on top i had the 2004 C6 A6(for 6 years)(3.0 Tdi quattro auto) after that the 2010 W 212 E-class (for 4 years)(250 4matic automatic) and now i drive a 2014 5 -series (F10)(525 xd auto) and all i can tell you that overall Audi was the best by far:) my next car will be an Audi !
tmanepic when we used that car for two weeks felt like it would come right off and it just felt cheap. Couldn’t figure out how to use it as well, I prefer the standard shifter, Mercedes shifters feel really flimsy to me but hey that’s my take on it. I think if you’re paying for a really expensive car you should have a shifter that you can tell what gear you’re in without looking down at it
@@coflyer2949 that's exactly the Mercedes shifter, P is the button at the end, up for reverse, down for drive, super simple and easy. However, I did notice my parents (both in their 50's) seemed to have some trouble with it. For me it was never an issue, not even once mistaking a gear even from day one, although I guess older generations could have some difficulty with it because it's unconventional. Personally I found it easier to use and enjoyed the design benefit of the cascading center stack, but I guess it's down to individual preference.
My 2009 A4 that I bought from Audi Fairfield as a CPO has been burning oil ever since I bought it. I brought it back 2K miles after I bought it but Audi kept denying responsibility... Now that there was a Class Action settlement, Audi of America is willing to charge me half of the $6K to replace the piston rings. This is total BS. I keep getting the run around. Audi won't do the right thing, even though they lost a class action law suit - still giving me a hard time... German engineering is BS... DON"T BUY an AUDI... I own an S5 and an A4 and am furious at how Audi is treating me. They don't want to take responsiblity for their defective design which has been a problem ever since they sold me the car. I asked the service manager for the prior service history and they don't have it. They were willing to Certify the car when I bought it, but now they won't fix what has been wrong ever since I owned it. Stay away... Audi Fairfield says talk to Audi of America... Audi of America says it's not their problem - they will only cover $3K out of a $6K service to fix a defect that they are 100% responsible for... Try talking to anybody higher up and they pretend their is nobody to talk to...
This guy is expecting E class items in a C class. Regardless of what you think should or should not be included in a particular model, Mercedes can literally do what they want because of the name.
Car salesman here...I've driven the current gen C300 extensively. I haven't driven this A4, but I did spend plenty of time behind the wheel of a B8 Audi A4. The C300 dances into corners with subtle RWD eagerness. The A4 plowed into corners like the FWD based sedan it is until the AWD gripped it through with severe understeer. I hope the newer A4 is better than that...
c300 is trash... my cousin has it, and every time i drive it i feel like im in much cheaper car. Audi feels "tight" in comparison (everything sits without gaps, the quality of materials is superb, and handles much better)
Working overseas for four years, I test drove every mainstream possible. I found no serious competition with Volkswagen/Audi. Confident that VW/Audi would continue to build driver oriented cars, my wife and I ordered a VW T-Roc and Audi RS3 without a single test drive of these new models, . We knew that we would love them and we were right.
First of, you sit too close to the wheel. Learn how to enjoy driving. Second, you cant raise a quality of one car, by saying bad things about the other. Both are great cars, but as they are different it takes different people to buy them. Back in the day, all cars looked the same, so ony minor things tipped the scale. But today, even with the wider range of offers, people dont buy cars the same way.
Both Quattro and 4matic are permanent AWD systems, that means 50/50 split 100% of the time, it is NOT dynamic AWD. Therefore it shouldn't make a difference between these two.
No way that C300 is 60k... no burmeister audio, stock wheels, unstitched dash, unventilated mbtex seats.. mine is near fully loaded and it was only 56k
The people who drive while in a similar seating position as him think that staying in the middle lane and driving just below the posted speed limit during rush hour is "Safe driving". They ride their brakes. They cut their hazards on at the first drop of rain. They have no situational awareness on the road. They drive with both of their hands on the very top of the steering wheel too, further making it impossible to maneuver quickly and easily. They think that they are good drivers but a thorough breakdown of their ability will prove otherwise.
Mercedes bens c300 all day luxury and classy u wanna go fast u can do that with a honda civic with a few mods that will give all these luxury cars arun for there money, just saying.
He said the C-Class did not have the surround view monitor, but that C-Class was equipped with he Parktronic system which comes standard with the surround view system. What a joke.
A4 is more trendy, especially with the technik package. C-class interior is outdated for its class along with the BMW 3 series. Virtual cock-pits are present in A4 and the Lexus IS.
+ysz199, I had an A6 for 3 years and it had no problems at all. I had an S-Class and it had quite a few issues. Honestly with the German brands its a crapshoot. My neighbor's X6M has probably spent a 1/4 or more of its life at the dealership. The only luxury brand that is probably guaranteed to be reliable is Lexus.
Is correct. I have two friends with BMWs and they´re living at the dealership. For that reason many people say that premium german cars are only for leasing. Owing them is costly and a headache
ysz199 Nah I’ve had an Audi A4 for 5 years and no problems at all. All depends on how you take care of it. If you treat it like shit then it’ll be problematic. I took care of mine, let it warm up properly, didnt abuse the engine, maintained the oil, brakes, and electronic stuff. No problems still.
if they put mercs new 9 speed auto in the C-class, it would make it a lot more competitive. I'd take the A4, even though I think the looks of the C-class is a lot better.
Sometimes staying conservative and understated is a bonus. I mean look at Toyota’s and Lexus... their design are sketchy looking with odd placements of body lines.
I am a fan of the Benz but could only get the C classes . in the future I would like to try an Audi because I never driven one. I love the interior and the dash virtual cockpit. Still thinking about an Audi and don't wanted to stop owning the Benz it was still my favorite one. So people who owned an Audi what's is it like to own and drive an Audi?
@@ajlee6933 I can see where you're coming from there. I fell in love with the new C class when it first came out, and finally got a chance to own one this year. The interior and exterior looks are what drew me to the car, but the interior quality is definitely lacking. The amount of rattles that thing had was unforgivable for any car, let alone a $50k German luxury car. The interior looks stunning but they cut corners with cheap plastic in different places resulting in so many damn rattles, let alone the car was in the shop more times than I can count. The Audi just doesn't wow me at first glance, but perhaps actually driving the car will change my mind.
I’ve sat and tried both, yes the c class interior does look more luxury based but the materials and feel are absolute shit. Metal work is just plastic with brushed metal parts and leather is not even close. The trim is literally plastic
(1) Mercedes doesn't start below E. (2) Prices on upper shelf German sedans have gone completely nuts. (3) Good reviewer, but please sit a little farther away from the wheel.
5:56 Are you sure? Is there a virtual cockpit in the Benz? You mean the ipad mini w/ the 2" bezel? Is there Android Auto, Apple Car in it, or MB is trying to force you to use their sub par nav, which looks like a 10yrs old garmin gps.. oh wait, it is a garmin map, that comes on an sd card and they charge you $5-600 for it :)) One can buy 2-3 garmins w/ constant lifetime map, traffic updates for the price of an SD card that needs an update in a yr or so which will cost you again... and this is just one tiny thing in a long line MB is trying to pull.. That said, I had Audi, have the c300 and the next will be.. neither :) Fortunately there are a few reliable, comfy yet sporty cars out there nowadays.. w/o insane repair costs..

I can buy a mercedes with 2 month salary :) except I have been investing in houses and stocks ;) forget mercedes im getting a maybach little man with your mommy beside me.

So difficult to choose between those two magnificent cars!
BMW 3 series is better
@@YoungCarWiz Haha interiot looks outdated
It's called "premium".
C300 Sport all day
Jus_ Jo_King nah
I looked at both, and even the Jaguar, and Alfa. I ended up getting a 2017 C300. I use the car to commute back and forth to work, I don't need all the crazy tech in the Audi. I am very happy with me car, it is very comfortable and quick, not fast, or firm, but that is what I wanted for this car. Lots of great cars in this segment, gotta do your research, then figure out what you really want from the car.
Marc Martine I agree. I test drove all the cars in this class and the Audi was fun to drive but the thoughtful comfort and safety features of the C300 are more important to me when it's time to grind out the daily commute to work.
wooodrow99 the stronic is a pain in low speed or accelerating from 0 instances. the 9 speed auto of thr merc is just so much smoother.
Audis are more exclusive. That’s why they are not dominating the consumer market.
It's kinda sad that Mercedes made this C Class back in 2014.5 and Audi made this A4 in 2017 yet the Audi isn't better than the Merc
A4 beat c-class drag coefficient of 0.24 with 0.23,plus c class is lighter and slower. gain some weight c class.
omg! ur the most stupidest duffer i hv ever seen.audi jst wiped the smirk off merc face!
James129963 US release dates are 2014.5 and 2016
Vighnesh Ravinthiran where i live, u can get an a4 used 2016 for 18k usd.. yeah im sorry but that says it all
Back where both come from, respectively Germany as well as their neighbors.. Audi is leading the market from far.
The merc is loosing trust from ppl due to their collaboration with renault for engines.
Plus, the quattro is hmm uhh.
The C-Class does offer the ventiliated front seats as an extra cost option
Same as audi.
I wouldn't buy either. Why? Because I can't afford one hahaha
prima hari u will be able to afford one in the future man 💪🏾
Oh dude buy one used. You'll be able to afford that eventually
@@justinv6132 A slightly used A4 is not that bad. 2017/2018 with 20k miles or so.
@Justin Mun Yea if they existed
He said the Mercedes felt "cheap" in certain areas. Um ok....im sure the VW jetta and passat parts in the A4 are worse...... the Audi looks dated and too much like a $20k VW
Boots N Pants don’t get your panties in a twist
You're right
He's right. The Mercedes does have cheap areas. The Audi has close to none. My mother said the same when we went to look at the Mercedes GLC. However, that does not take much away from the experience. The Mercedes is still a lovely car to own and drive.
The C63 decimates all!
Audi RS7 kills everyting
but still its a piece of shit compared to the bmw m4 that has a way smaller engine
one car benz and bmw wish was not born!
AMG has it’s motor in Maybach and Pagani and Audi just have R8.
@@silversparticus5748 the R8 has the same motor as a Lamborghini. But AMG makes the best engines IMO
Any problems with the new A4 transission?
TheSheepersGame ; only about 3000 miles in... no problems yet. However it being a dual clutch it is not very smooth and does take some getting used to. The is a bit of a clunky motion to it when first engaging drive that goes away and only comes during cold starts.
Q7 is the last Audi introduced before the law has changed.
in europe audi is already on top i had the 2004 C6 A6(for 6 years)(3.0 Tdi quattro auto) after that the 2010 W 212 E-class (for 4 years)(250 4matic automatic) and now i drive a 2014 5 -series (F10)(525 xd auto) and all i can tell you that overall Audi was the best by far:)
my next car will be an Audi !
"Shifter looks like it may break off". Are you serious? This is a real MB criticism? This guy is super biased towards Audi.
Isn't that truth?Sedan should be equipped with a sifter of the pen size. Its not a damn minivan. Moreover, its pretty expensive car.
richard8221 have you ever actually used that shifter in the real world? It really does feel like it's going to snap off.
@@coflyer2949 yes I did, I had a C300 for 9 months this year. It doesn't feel that way in the slightest, I actually prefer it to a standard shifter.
tmanepic when we used that car for two weeks felt like it would come right off and it just felt cheap.
Mercedes is the king in terms of driving and look trust me. Not only that but also reliability.
Honestly very true. In my experience Audi has been the least reliable of bmw, merc, and Audi. Merc has been the most reliable though
I wish audi would make those wheels available in US on the regular 2.0T not the TFSI.
Audi for the win!
C300 has better interior & the A4 looks better. I like the new updated media on the A4 :)
I'd choose an Audi any day!!!
Why is he sitting right on top of the steering wheel?!
A4 is better. I own one and love it.
Audi A4 with a manual transmission anytime!
Audi S4 or Mercedes C43 amg ?
Let see on this way
C43
I wish he would sit closer to the steering wheel. 🤓
I'm just surprised that the 3 series and the a4 still don't have panoramic sunroofs
victor almonte ruins the stability of the vehicle. I think it’s worthless and another costly fix if it arises to that.
Awesome background music 😌
the question is does the virtual cockpit still work in -40c conditions?
You don't think it would?
Good comprehensive review!
This guy is expecting E class items in a C class. Regardless of what you think should or should not be included in a particular model, Mercedes can literally do what they want because of the name.
Easy win for Audi. Nice car. That interior rocks
I agree. The interior looks incredible.
The W204 benz Will forever be the best mercedes sedan style & detail they have made other then the newer Amg’s
FudgeRevolution lol FWD based luxury should be Audi’s slogan
Mercedes-Benz over Audi all day.
agree...except the rs7
c300 is trash... my cousin has it, and every time i drive it i feel like im in much cheaper car. Audi feels "tight" in comparison (everything sits without gaps, the quality of materials is superb, and handles much better)
I'd get a loaded regular sedan. Like a Passat or sonata. And save a bunch of money and get most of those features.
Working overseas for four years, I test drove
every mainstream possible.
I had a drink every time he said "luxury." I passed out before picking a *German sports sedan.*
RWD based AWD is always better than FWD based AWD
Today everything is controlled by electronics.
sic22l He is talking about structural difference you dummy
Audi's Quattro system is full-time, torsen-based awd. No fwd here! Dummy.
· and quattro is better than both ·
Both Quattro and 4matic are permanent AWD systems, that means 50/50 split 100% of the time, it is NOT dynamic AWD.
Compare how they handle in the snow. Audi wins overall, plus Audi offered a manual transmission for the 2017 A4.
Good review. I’m convinced and buying a Audi.
Great video
He said the C-Class did not have the surround view monitor, but that C-Class was equipped with he Parktronic system which comes standard with the surround view system. What a joke.
This guy I swear. Feels like I'm watching Audi review. Owner of 16 c300 4matic.
A4 is more trendy, especially with the technik package. C-class interior is outdated for its class along with the BMW 3 series. Virtual cock-pits are present in A4 and the Lexus IS.
All the sheeple will buy the C300. It is all about the HUGE emblem. They would choose the C300 over the A4 if the C300 came only with denim seats.
They are two completely different cars for different buyers and it has nothing to do with the badge.
No talk about reliability. You guys are comparing prices optioned out differently.. How does that make sense
The Audi looks do much sexier..
Two pretty damn good-looking vehicles.
audi
After 4 years of driving, you gonna see the difference. Audi will become problematical and bunch of quality problems.
ysz199 i had a A4 And have to sell it because multiple electronic issues. Merc is better
Come to find out this guy owns an A4....................so take that in to account when you see him doing comparison reviews.
Sooo no mention about the brakes?
I hate using the Mercedes infotainment system. When I was trying to cut to the next song, it's just not so convenient as the BMW or the Audi.
A4 is still carrying a dated design. Afraid to change and innovate. Same old, same old.
chancy319 Best desing in the class. Sharpest.
That would belong to the C-Class.
Sometimes staying conservative and understated is a bonus. I mean look at Toyota’s and Lexus... their design are sketchy looking with odd placements of body lines.
Full of bs. Period. The A4 interior has so much hard plastic.
Tho Le some one owns a Benz
Tho Le I’ve sat an the new Audi’s and just don’t see the appeal one of them even had the center console lid half broken straight from dealer
I've had an Mercedes E Class Coupe and a Cls550. Now have an Audi Q7 supercharged SUV. I can can say that the Audi is a much smoother ride.
I have the C300 Sport package, it handles great, doesn’t ride good over bumps at all.
The benz is a way better car.
What? Black wood feels anything but cheap, it's magnificent!
You kidding me the dark Ashe is the best option interior trim.
Audi interiors rofl.... looks so low end... this guy is clearly audi biased....mercedes rocks anyday
Moonlight0810 looks vs the way it feels are totally different. Once you sit in an Audi, you’d understand.
Team Audi!
(1) Mercedes doesn't start below E. (2) Prices on upper shelf German sedans have gone completely nuts. (3) Good reviewer, but please sit a little farther away from the wheel.
Actually the C-class is a proper Merc.
@sic22l -- I know. I just don't like luxury brands messing with compact cars. Yeah, I'm old.
2017 audi a4 its much better than mercedes c300!
Sorry Mercedes fans!
Audi literally blows the doors off of Mercedes in every way. Watch the video.
Lol no audio of exterior for the Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Class. It would sound like a lion!
