i agree! but in the fight of obesity everything should be addressed, not only personal responsibility. everyone seems to blame solely the individuals, but how can you expect someone to succeed when everything is against them? not all people are mentally strong enough to "quit" on their own, they need help, and having temptation all around you isnt helpful. there should be a multivariate approach and food industry could help a lot, if it cared..

We must learn how to have a healthy relationship with food....the poor can't afford to get sick...interesting video.

Boycott these foods. Losing money would shut down any company down. That's when change happen don't buy it. Only people can make change the government want do it. Only the money is the ruler.

I have noticed that the wild animals that live out of garbage cans are very obese. One skunk is wider than long.

i just dont think telling people they are the only ones to blame is helpful, and certainly it doesnt solve anything.. Yeah, they are responsible, but here we come to the philosophical subject of free choice. How much free choice do we really have? it's a very old question, and it really puts in perspective the fact that our choices aren't a product of our pure will, but that your pure will is tainted and not so much "ours"...

dont talk to me like that, you dont know what i've been through, and yes, im actually following a diet low in carbs now and im doing great! but only recently i discovered it.. every "balanced" diet out there tells you to eat sugar and carbs and some classic weigh loss tips is "have a granola bar for a snack" or "eat some whole grain crackers"... i've been to dietitians who told me the same things. that's practically a diet full of sugar and carbs! its not easy if you dont know who to trust..

Totally right! Eat low carb, even zero carb for healthy living, especially for us who have issues with those pseudofoods

@@TheKingdomWeigh Hmm I'm not so sure about that. I am a recovering food addict who eats whole foods plant based with no added sugars/sweeteners, no added fat/oils, no added salt. I do not eat animal products or dairy. This has resulted in continuing weight loss, freedom from cravings, and the best blood work and good blood pressure. I am a cancer survivor. Eating animal protein is linked to increase of some cancers. I eat plenty of beans, potatoes, rice and quinoa.

Per last comment--drugs need to be regulated. Look at how cigarette and alcohol industries have gone in the past--labeling by surgeon general, no smoking indoors, etc. The public needs to be educated as to the harms of these highly addictive substances that are wrecking havoc with their health and causing diabetes, cancer, cardiac issues, etc. Food industry tells lies to sell product and does all kinds of unethical things that are causing harm to humans and animals.

trust me, its not easy, not only because they are everywhere, but especially when modern views on diet are "you should have a treat once in a while". and when you do... BOOM! full-blown binge! and you're in the circe again! i've been blaming myself for my weakness my whole life, thinking "if this is the right way to do it, why can't i do it?". If you haven't lived it you dont know how it is to crave a certain food and think about it all day long. and no, distraction doesnt work!!

yea and we know this is not working because as of 13 years later, there is no such thing in the whole united states as sugar or processed food taxation.

  • @Ichthyologistic

also, maybe some people are more prone to develop an ill relationship with food. like with alcohol, a lot of people drink it but some get addicted. maybe some foods are triggers for some people, and if these foods are one of the ingredients in processed food then we have a serious problem! it's an interesting possibility to explore and i think would explain the epidemic. it's unlikely that so many people became unmotivated lazy slobs at the same time!! dunno, just an opinion... :)

    • @happycook6737
      @happycook6737 2 года назад

You are correct. In China, Japan,Tanzania, and Iraq obesity was virtually unheard of just 20 years ago. Now they are eating processed food and fast food. The obesity rates are climbing! I lived in those countries and asked locals.

2022 the covid pandemic lock down brought up the obesity pandemic.
Isolation, excessive media/virtual interaction and easy food home delivery.
Sadly this was just a nice fad .

i'll have to watch that vid, looks interesting. i've always said to myself that there's no way i'd ever be obese! i used to binge since a kid but never had serious weight issues(it was more an appearance thing). That is until 2 years ago when i developed depression 'n my binges went out of control.Im still not that fat, merely borderline obese (70kg, 158cm),but my issue is that i cant control my eating.when i say im doing great i mean i dont have urges to binge, which is unbelievable!

Ichthyologistic pry to stay away from processed foods for a month. Try not to eat anything with more than six ingredients. Stick to beans and rice, plain yogurt, fruit, salads, eggs, nuts, hummus, and occasionally high quality meat and fish.

People eat this stuff drive all day and sit. Maybe 1 or 2 people would walk 1.4 miles a day. They don't eat vegetables or fruits only junk food all you need to do is look at their shopping cart and you wonder why people are obese. Don't go pass the produce section.

I'm disgusted by people commenting on the speakers’ body size. I'm a healthycare professional working in obesity management. Passing judgment on someone for their size is a huge contributor to the stigmas surrounding obesity and shows complete ignorance to the complexity of this issue. Have you heard of 'healthy at every size'??? This judgment leads to a vicious cycle and creates shame in individuals completely opposing the encouragement and confidence needed to support lifestyle change.

Yet another excuse to tax people even more. We need to learn how to think for ourselves, stop telling us we cannot. This man is obese what is the difference between him and the people he is lecturing about. I am totally disgusted. and I am not fat. But I have to scrape to afford decent food, preferably organically grown, but what use to be normal you have to pay for non-poisoned food. How about banning pesticides, the factory farm practices, you of course are not addressing real issues, the core
