As an old guy...I grew up in Tom's era of fine performers. I can only think of a few men that had his total package of a very good voice, rhythm, and sexuality that drove women crazy. I miss these type of performers nowadays.

I remember growing up in the 60s and 70s they had these variety shows on all the time. We didnt get cable until the mid 70s, but there was always something on tv on the basic 7 channels.

Hardly a drag off. They were all young at the top of CBS’s television 📺 city. In other words, the number one shows and stars on TV. Great friends at work, and away from work. In fact, there were few others they could interact with, other than each other. Their circles were very small. Hollywood is much larger now.
Trust me, Cher had no problem looking Tom in the eyes... or anywhere else. Sonny had to share his honey.

Tom Jones is one of the all time best singers! I remember watching him as a child during his tv show. As someone who loves music, he is one of the best, along with Bobby Darrin, Dean Martin just to name a few. Yes Frank S is in there but these two have the amazing ability to bring everything to each song. They are just my favorites! And many thanks to Paul Anka who could not only write many of these songs, but when he sang them, he knocked them out of the park!!

Always loved this song as a Cher fan but never heard this version with Tom and I love it more than the original . This was recorded 10 years before I was born. Fellow welshie here 12.5 miles down the road from pontypridd where Tom was born. He's a legend in Wales and can't beat a full train carriage belting out "delilah" on the way home from Cardiff back to the valleys after a rugby game.
