I'd have to agree on Parable of the Talents. Also, At Night All Blood is Black by David Diop (this audiobook blew my mind), Book Lovers by Emily Henry, When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain by Nghi Vo, In An Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire, and The Love Songs of W.E.B. DuBois.

It's End-of-the-world-as-we-know-it but is really about relationships. I read Beach Read last year and enjoyed it. Since you also enjoyed it, you might like books by Mhairi McFarlane. They are romances, but they also deal with serious topics, like Beach Read did with grief. If you’re in the mood to read a romance, I recommend Just Last Night, Mad About You or If I Never Met You by this author. Her older ones are good as well, but I think the writing is stronger in her newer books. They are set in England and I enjoy the slang and learning little things about the culture.

Just a clarification: in Book of the Unnamed Midwife, it is men who have higher survival rates, which also plays into the major subplot of women surviving not only the deadly outbreak and child birth, but also surviving men, who now have far less women to “go around”. The second book in the trilogy (the first is essentially a standalone and far superior to the other two) goes into more depth.
