    For more of you guys to come visit this place. Taking a bus No.166 from Victory Monument is much easier and cheaper. BTS: Wat Phra Sri Mahathat or SRT Red Line: Lak Si connected with Bus No.51 is not the most convenient way to go but cheap too. In the near future MRT Pink Line will go directly to Pak Kret, Ko Kret pier is just walking distance from MRT station.

    The boat only runs from Sathorn to Pakkret on the weekday afternoon. The alternative is taking a cab/bus to Sanam Nuea temple, 5 mins walk from Pakkret pier, and taking a 3 Bath boat ride to Koh Kret. It's much more lively there during the weekend. There's also a very good local craft beer bar on the island....highly recommended!

    I visited Koh Kret in November just before COVID hit. Like you, wife and I took the same ferry up the Chao Phraya river from Sathorn. It’s crazy the ferry does not go all the way to Koh Kret but the journey and views are nice. We took a very small speedboat, return trip it was THB800 as I remember. We also visited on a week day which suited us as we like to avoid the crowds. Also cycled around the island too which was very interesting. I recommend this day trip to others who like to see a different side of BKK.

    It’s always so wonderful to discover new places. I visit Koh Kret each time I travel to BKK. You may want to visit the Temple of the Rising Dragon…the temple is quite interesting but the grounds are even more so. It is a rather kitsch type place but well worth a visit for its uniqueness. The Thai name is: Wat Sam Phran.
    This may make a great video for your supporters.

    Just a little tip: Ko Kret is not really the closest island near Bangkok.
    That would be Bang K(r)achao which is significantly bigger, a lot less crowded in the weekends and a bit more authentic (I went to Ko Kret a decade ago and it was a lot less touristy than now).
    For Bang Krachao it's just a quick taxi ride from Sikirit MRT station and then a little 2 min boat crossing for 20 baht. Then rent a bicycle for 100 baht/day (bring a copy of your passport).
    Also, I think you guys took a bit of an expensive route - From Nonthaburi Civic Center MRT (Purple line) you can get a taxi and within 15 mins (probably around 150 baht?) you are at the east pier to Ko Kret where you get a boat for a few baht. The MRT's from anywhere in the center should take around 45 minutes and around 60-70 baht one way.

  • @mikew9999
    @mikew9999 Год назад +2

    You can leave from the Pa Kret pier and I think it was only 10 baht to get across on the ferry. It took about 60 seconds to get across to the island. But you have to take a taxi to the Pa Kret pier either from the Nonthaburi pier, or from the Ministry of Public Health Purple Line MRT station. But the taxi ride takes about 25-30 minutes, and there is a cost for the taxi-- although it was not 1500 baht. But yes Ko Kret was loads of fun. Go on a Monday when there are almost no other tourists there and you have all those bike trails almost to yourself, and the locals, and the dogs.

    การลงเรือข้ามฝากไปยังฝั่งเกาะเกร็ด สามารถขึ้นเรือได้ที่ 2 ท่า คือ ท่าเรือวัดสนามเหนือ ( เสียค่าเรือโดยสาร 2 บาท ) ท่าเรือวัดกลางเกร็ด ( เสียค่าเรือโดยสาร 6 บาท ) เรือข้ามฝาก มีให้บริการตั้งแต่เวลา 5.00 น. จนถึงเวลา 21.30 น.
    These prices were in the past years, but I'm sure that there are the public boats running between Koh Kret and Nonthaburi on the piers. I've been there once.
    You may take the wrong pier ...

    If you don't want a private boat you can use public boat to go to Pakkred or Wat Klang Kret
    I think its the green flag boat but it doesn't have much travel
    you might have to go by bus to Pakkred or taxi to Wat Klang Kret
    Ko kret is just across Wat Sanam Nuea you can walk from Pakkred or Wat Klang Kret to Wat Sanam Nuea
    if the boat doesn't stop at Wat Sanam Nuea pier
    you can just ride a boat to cross Wat Sanam Nuea pier to Ko kret

      Ok and just wondering, what did your taxi ride cost? And from which part of Bangkok did you board the taxi… did you have to travel as far through BKK as Note and Flo did down the river? You need to figure the distance of your travel from where you started in BKK, whether by land or by water. Then the to the distance they traveled from where they started their journey, all the way to the island. Only if that distance is the same can you compare costs. Maybe you started out somewhere much closer to this pier you mentioned. So you cant really suggest they should have paid the same cheap price as you, especially as you had to take a taxi who knows how far to get to the pier.

    • @pedroaraujo6300
      @pedroaraujo6300 Год назад

      @@oliveoyal Central Bangkok area. Taxi around is usually 100 and should be no more than 200 baht. From suvarnabhumi airport a taxi will run 250 - 350 baht (including taxi airport tax and tolls) into central Bkk. A taxi from Bankgok to Pattaya city is 1000 baht (to 1500). Flora and note began their pricey journey from Nonthaburi Pier. I Live at Ratchayothin. They are quite a bit closer than I am to Ko Kret. Taxi cost me about 150 baht. You can tell by the look on their face, their awkwardness and asking viewers what the cost might be, that they had been taken for a ride. A private boat ride. 1,500 baht goes a long way in Thailand. If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't have suggested otherwise. The map knows.

      @@jomontanee I simply said it's a blessing for Flora and Note to be not in Thailand now but since you mentioned education and ignorance, I shall have you know I read and watch uncensored news. I know:
      - China's hospitals and crematories are overrun
      - China has a shortage of common cold/flu medicine and several countries including China has restrictions on number of tablets/capsules consumes can buy per day
      - CCP has stopped reporting COVID numbers since WHO and other countries believe the official COVID reported numbers are significantly understated
      - China has banned tourists from South Korea and Japan from entering their country since the 2 nations enforced restriction rules on Chinese travellers
      - China expects ALL visitors to be tested negative before entering their country and staff at their airports wear full PPE.
      - Chinese have booked out western vacinnations in HK that locals can't get their jabs
      - Shanghai the Bund and supermarkets are near empty
      I can go on with a longer list but I don't want to hijack Flora and Notes' channel. I have been to Thailand 3 times and love the people and food. I know many countries who depend on tourism have suffered since COVID hit the world 3 years ago but only time will tell if Thai's gambit will pay off.
