Virtual tour of Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams

- If you are usually one to spend your weekends visiting exhibitions and soaking up culture, then you may be feeling at a bit of a loss this month, as we all spend our days at home. However, Dior has just announced an exciting new development, which will help inject some culture back into your weekend, as the fashion house has released a virtual tour of its groundbreaking exhibition, 'Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams'.
The exhibition broke records when it was held at the V&A last year, becoming the museum's most-visited exhibit in history with over half a million people walking through the doors. Before it was staged here however, its home was at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, which is where the virtual tour took place.
If you want to step into the world of Dior, then head to the video above where you can watch the construction of the project, as well as have the chance to walk through the finished exhibition and hear from experts and curators about the rich history of the house. From learning about the various talented creative directors who have helmed Dior to seeing precious archival pieces and sketches, it really is an exhibition worth visiting (especially from the comfort of your own sofa).

Is it just me, or over time, do the models keep getting skinnier and skinnier?
Skinny models are better than "diversity" models: fat models, midget models, handicapped models... The focus should not be on the model's status. The focus should be on the clothing design.
An absolutely beautiful documentary of the intense processing of the exhibit! Thank you so much for uploading this. So much talent involved, so many hours of labour, such intricate details, so much creativity. Truly a masterpiece! So wish I had the privilege to see this in person!

Beautiful work. I think my biggest curiosity is how and where they store such a massive amount of garments. Is it fireproof protective area?

Also, how does the water in the air not damage the silk and other delicate material?

Dior Heritage is in charge of the conservation of the models in an undisclosed location. The temperature and humidity of the storage rooms are constantly monitored and the risk of fire is nill. The models can be loaned for exhibitions or retrospectives.
It's so nice to show behind the scenes of all the processes, the artists and designers and just everything that goes into the process of making each piece. I think it makes consumers appreciate the fashion and just how much does go into it. Lovely documentary.

You have to take a trip to Paris (France) and you can visit the permanent "Dior Galerie" exhibition, of course it's not as grandiose as the one in the video, but its really great because so many pieces are there, the presentation is really beautiful and mimic the one in this documentary.

That’s because Christian Dior quite literally reinvented women’s fashion. He injected life back into it. Current fashion designers have yet to reinvent the dress.

This was mesmerizing from beggining to end, such an exquisite exhibit, i read they opened a Dior museum now, i'm really hoping to go someday
Very interesting ,big problem was the type and size of English print. When the pictures was light u can read the translation. I would loved to watch to end but I was unable to read the print.
This could've been 3 hours and I'd still watch it gladly!

the title is misleading I thought this was a real 360 virtual tour. the dior channel has already posted this documentary.

Really interesting. Just one thing: the subtitles are in white & are frequently on top of a white background which makes them difficult to see.

Notamment le fais que Raf Simons n’a jamais étudié à Anvers, et qu’il n’ait jamais étudié le stylisme en général, Il a étudié la conception de meubles a l’école de saint Luc de Genk. Dior is a truly beautiful fashion house. Christian Dior’s work is utterly timeless and just plain stunning. As is the all directors who followed after him. This video was remarkable, a testimony to the curator who put her heart and soul into this exhibition.

Wonderful documentary, but the pale English subtitles were sometimes impossible to read when they appeared on a light background.😔
video minute 10:00, that is much better. I think the children have created some fake cells for this video and forced them in. Some of the dresses are so ugly, there is just no possible way Christian Dior would ever make such an ugly thing and sell it to the public. More likely, Carl and Sheila Cunningham, and Collin created these images to enrage us.

The most beautiful fashion exhibition I ever saw, and I've seen a few, along with exceptional exhibition of another Fashion hero, Alexander McQueen, "Savage Beauty" at V&A museum in London, and Jean Paul Gaultier à Petit Palais. This documentary video is great, too bad we couldn't see much of the petites mains, especially those working on the miniatures models, which are breathtaking, such masters in their craft, so tiny and beautiful.

I’m not articulate enough to communicate how emotional this film made me. It was exhilarating. I was lucky enough to view a Dior exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum in the early 90’s. When I saw the impossibly detailed embroidery and beadwork, crystals and sequins up close I literally cried. These garments are spectacular and it’s fascinating to see the stages and layers of construction involved. What a glorious effort! I remember when this event was first publicized and could only dream of attending. What a privilege it was to see this. The sweeping history of Dior and designers who followed him is wondrous to behold.
