I hope the Dorset Wildlife Trust are keeping an eye on the fish population on this stretch of the river.

Good to know that otters have human guardians who care for their well-being.

@DataPAFilter The otters that I've seen and filmed in freshwaters have almost totally ignored fish (apart from small stone loaches and the like) and have been feeding on crayfish a lot which, as these are probably the introduced signal crayfish pest, must be a good thing for fish eggs and so fish stocks.

Put the crack pipe down fella!!! They are clearing out every waterway! Then moving onto swans, mammals and anything with a pulse! I work in the countryside and run a river, ITS FUCKED!!!!!! down to them.simples!

Anglers aren't bleating on because they hate the otter, it's because rivers don't have their natural prey these days, eels. So thousands of miles of river in the UK are being emptied of their natural fish stocks and now the otters are now turning their attention to small mammals, wild fowl eggs, chicks and ducklings, I've seen them even taking signets. In the fens they've been hunting bitterns.

Shame is that the pathetic angling community feel that otters may impact on their pastime and so should be culled! So typical of the angling community bang on about conservation but only if it means their increasing their 'fun prey' at the cost of any other nature- trees on the river band, otters, cormorants, swans killed by discarded tackle and huge amount of fishing litter at rivers. For a indication of their hypocrisy see the anglingtrust website and search for otters or cormorant

Personally Because I've been Fishing on Rivers like for example The Hampshire Avon and the Dorset Stour once and I have seen the odd otter on these rivers and they don't bother me as much-It's the introduced American Signal Crayfish and the European Cormorants that are a real nuisance to Fisheries-That's a big worry for me personally because the Cormorants have been eating the Roach,Salmon,Trout,Eels etc.-I blame The R.S.P.B. and Natural England for introducing the Cormorant to British Waterways-They should be ashamed of themselves-They don't care about the Angling Industry or the Fish themselves-Ignorance and Selfishness!!!!!!!!!
