Oh my gosh your hair! It looks like a hair advert 👍🏻
I lived such a fun age too, so much. I listened to the audio which was amazing.
I gave up on the seasonal quartet after autumn. I totally respect Ali Smith's talent but her writing style just isn't my thing unfortunately.
Great that you've got a fab tbr lined up for the rest of the year ☺️

Such a fun age is still on my list, I'm very intrigued

I felt exactly the same way about Sorcerer to the Crown. As soon as you held it up I thought "what a messy book that was" and then you said messy 😂 it reminded me of The Watchmaker of Filigree Street which was also historical fantasy published around the same time - that one was oddly plotted and messy too!
Haha, I know what you mean about Juliet Marillier's books having trials in 😂 I feel like I skim those bits!

Bless Juliet, she just wants it done properly! 😂

I keep picking up The Watchmaker of Filigree Street whenever I see it intrigued by it not sure I'll bother now

I agree that Summer was a teensy bit of a let down, especially after the brilliance of Spring. For me it was also difficult to read about characters who are depressed about being in lockdown because...same.

Exactly, it ended up feeling quite bleak!

I absolutely loved Such A Fun Age, flew through it in one day. Really want to read Summer soon, loved the other three books in the quartet.

I have heard mixed things about Such a Fun Age so I enjoyed hearing your thoughts about that one. I do want to give it a try 😊

You sold Such a Fun Age really well, that's for sure! Especially the bit about how, as a more literary book, it achieves being easily readable and enjoyable. It sounds perfectly timely too.
I had started Sorcerer to The Crown on audiobook, and liked the premise. I don't remember why I didn't pick it up again (I really wasn't far into it) but after listening to your advice, I think it was a sensible choice (or more like a sensible omission)!

I loved Such a Fun Age and Summer too-though I agree it was a bit anti-climatic-Spring is definitely my favourite. I'm looking forward to reading Ruth by Gaskell (I hope you enjoy reading your picks) and Bodies of Light by Sarah Moss.

I've been reading mainly horror/thriller books this month - had a few on my TBR that I wanted to get to along with my book club pick! But I'm running out of physical books now, all my others are packed up for my move next week :) Thank goodness for my Kindle! Hopefully you have a great reading month in November, it definitely sounded like this month was a bit of a mixed bag for you!

You made me laugh so much about the trials! I thought first you meant trials as in ‘trials and tribulations’ and I was wondering why that was an issue - and then you mentioned fantasy lawyers 😂 I’ve never read any Juliet M so I’ll approach with caution 😊

All these books didn’t have good editors ? I wonder what happens before they publish the books.

I think I came to the conclusion that I kinda sorta liked Sorcerer to the Crown, but then not really 😅. There were a lot of aspects to the story that I could have been interested in reading about, but then the author didn't seem to find them very interesting, because she glossed over pretty much everything.
