It's so lovely hearing you talk about being a parent. I had a baby three months after you and I so relate to not having time. My house is also being renovated. Great timing 😂. We will get through this. Totally relate to the looks thing. I didn't realise how challenging it would be to not be able to wear my clothes and not have time to do makeup. We're unlucky and living in a new city where we don't know many people. Similarly my routine is so different now. I really miss elements of that but can't imagine life without the little one now. Wishing you lots of sleep and you time in the future.

Before my oldest nephew was born, I imagined lots of cozy reading sessions. When he finally arrived, he was far more interested in tearing up books than anything else 😅

Oops I'm late watching this one 🤦🏼‍♀️ I could relate to your answers so much, I was nodding along while I was doing some cross stitch and watching! My kids are older now, 7 & 4, but so many things I could remember really well.. Needing some time doing the things you love, not being happy with how you present (I remember feeling frumpy definitely), feeling like I really wanted to complete some house projects but having no time etc. I so get it! Oh and also yes all of the other stuff like the washing, home admin etc. You do slot into a new routine when you go back to work. I remembered being anxious about bf and work but actually it was fine as my babies just had bf morning and night by then. I remember my friend said to see work like a treat, being in a grown up space, and having a wee in private!
See I could go on for ages 😂
One final thing - I took photos of all stuff before I put it in the loft and saved it into an album so that I knew what was up there and how it was boxed up - big help for later.
I'll actually shut up now 😊 xx

It doesn't stop. That's the best way to describe it lol I have a two year old & while in some aspects it's a lot easier than having a newborn and a baby...I can't say it ever really gets "easy" it just gets different. I'm sure every stage has its own rewards & challenges. But yeah there's no days off but that's just being a parent. We can't switch it on and off. Thanks for the q & a.

Loved this video so much Lauren! Having just had a baby, hearing you talk about being a parent is very encouraging and soothing actually while I’m in the early madness haha. Looking forward to your pregnancy and birth video :) x

All I can say is you were lucky to have so much support with the newborn. Enjoy every moment.

Bath books are brilliant for young ones who are interested in colours etc but aren't reading ready! And those cardboard type ones (where the pages are solid) are great.
My daughter LOVED the little bear books! And I Love You Blue Kangaroo and Frog In Love. I ready those so many times I hardly needed the book 🤣

I appreciate what you said about the way you noticed how much you valued your appearance. I found myself in the same situation where I felt incomplete not being able to take 15 to put myself together the first few months. I was so tired from it all and breastfeeding it felt like such a silly thing to want but it was really something I needed. Days I had to get ready to take the little one to a dr apt I noticed how much better I felt with a lil make up. I would say that I do not think this is for external reasons, I wasn’t trying to please others, I just needed that extra boost of confidence from feeling complete and put together. I really struggled with the being in between my maternity clothes and pre baby clothes. In the end I found I waited too long to just buy a few pieces I loved that fit me right at the time and made me feel great. I had to comes to terms with the fact my body was different and it wasn’t ever gonna be what it was, it was something new and great and it deserves clothing that flattered it. While I can fit into some of my pre baby clothes now a days, my baby is also turning three in December. So…. Hahah buy the clothes you need now. Don’t pressure yourself or your body to be something it doesn’t have to be. All in good time.

Dogger is WONDERFUL. Loved the Alfie and Annie Rose stories too. We named our first dog Alfie after those books.
I feel like I'm slowly curating a library of picture books and I have no children or any plans to have children any time soon!

I'm happy to see you back!
My son is now three years and started school in September but I related to everything you said hahaha. It literally took two years to get a fairly acceptable routine and one which made me happy! And even then, well it is what it is...
As for books I bought them and received some when he was small but he truly became interested well 6 months ago, otherwise well the eating books tearing them was routine haha.
What you said about feeling like completely shit is something I have struggled with since becoming a mother. It really took a toll on me, in not where I used to be but I'm on the right path ^^.
Thank you so much for sharing with us, I've given birth three years ago and it's like the first time I feel lije someone else on the booktube scene understand what it can be like. And it feels nice ☺️.

It sounds like the lack of time making you more picky about what you choose to stick with reading wise is a good thing! I'm still not great about DNFing books I'm not enjoying XD and the bedroom is looking so serene and lovely!

It was a local company called something like flowers forever and ever ☺️ it had to be kept in water throughout the day (the venue knew what to do) and then the preserving company came to pick it up the next day
